Nuocheng focused on the news, as a CEO, watching the financial report was part of his daily routine.
He had cooked three packs of noodles, added three eggs and approximately two sausages, he hoped that would satiate a big man like Sicheng.
Someone who does a lot of heavy duty work must surely have a big appetite right?
Slurping the contents in the bowl, Sicheng moved to the sink, quickly washing the bowl and cup.
Keeping it in the rack then walking back to the couch.
"I’m done." Glancing at Nuocheng, he sat down at the opposite chair. "What did you want to talk about?"
Nuocheng leaned forward, paused the news and placed the remote on the table.
"Okay. What are you going to do? I’m happy to let you live with me until whenever but I know that’s not something you want." Leaning back, he crossed his legs, his gaze finally reaching Sicheng’s face.
"I’ll get a job, I only need a place to spend the night, tomorrow I’ll leave.."
Nuocheng’s eyes narrowed, was he going to sleep on the streets? Or did he have some back up plan and was only held up by the rain?
"But you don’t have any money. How sure are you that you’ll find a job with housing that fast?"
Sicheng clenched his fists slowly, it stung a little, getting reminded of his current predicament.
"Yes. Thank you for letting me spend the night. If it’s okay with you, I’ll head in."
Nuocheng’s fingers tightened around his trouser, sighing lightly.
"You don’t need my permission. Do whatever you want." He picked up his phone, not sparing Sicheng another glance.
5:16pm.
It was well past closing time, so he should check on Chenxi and ask for a general overview and today’s documents.
With the phone to his ear, he watched Sicheng walk to the stairs.
A static sound rang out before Chenxi came in.
"What’sup? I’m heading your way, along with the documents you need to sign against tomorrow. I’ll be there in fifteen."
Nuocheng couldn’t even say a word before Chenxi hung up.
He sighed, placing the phone on the table.
Pushing off the couch, Nuocheng slid his hands in his pockets and walked to the wine corner.
Times like this, especially when he felt like shit—his favorite wine always did the trick.
"Ah"
Screaming Eagle 2007.
One of his most expensive wines.
He grabbed a glass from the holder and sat on the counter stool.
Black liquid swirled, barely catching the light.
"He’s a tough cookie," he muttered to the glass.
"Haven’t even thought about sleeping with him yet, and he already doesn’t want me.Not my body or my money."
He took a sip. The alcohol burned going down.
"Some ego he’s got. He’s a man alright."
Ding!
Dong!
Following the sound of the key pad.
"Nuocheng? I’m here.." Chenxi kicked off his shoes, as he stepped inside the living room.
"Nuo—Oh, there you are.."
His eyes narrowed slightly, staring at the glass cup in his hand.
"Why the fuck are you drinking?"
Nuocheng didn’t respond until he’d downed the last of the wine, not leaving behind a single drop.
"Why the fuck can’t I drink? Don’t piss me off."
Chenxi scoffed as he stomped to the kitchen, grabbing the bottle before Nuocheng could reach for it.
"You too, don’t piss me off. Why the fuck are you drinking? Next you’ll start harassing Han Sicheng that you want to sleep with him, the man has expressed his boundaries—respect it."
Nuocheng clenched his fists, the veins in his neck popping.
"You think I don’t know that? I’m fucking aware and no I’m not drinking because I want him to fuck me."
"He had me all to himself when I was at my most vulnerable and he didn’t touch me, you think I’ll force myself on someone who doesn’t want me?"
"I can feel that he’s suffocated when I’m around. I’m drinking because I want to, fuck."
Chenxi sighed and cocked the wine bottle, placing it back on the shelf.
"Don’t be stupid, I know it’s the alcohol talking but still.."
Chenxi paused, sighing exasperatedly.
"If you put your eccentrics behind you and ask him out like a normal person, I’m sure he wouldn’t refuse. Your first and second impressions were all fucked up. It’s normal for him to distance himself. He’s not like the other men that go after your money."
Nuocheng had to accept the fact—he’d be the one chasing Han Sicheng.
"Do you even like him? Or is this your ego talking? Because he’s not all over you."
Nuocheng’s eyes widened but he didn’t say anything. He walked to the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water.
"I’m attracted to him, isn’t that enough?"
Chenxi snorted, like he was holding back a laugh.
"Don’t be stupid. He’s handsome and looks like he’s got a big dick, then what? Is that all? You’d marry him just because he looks like he can please you in bed?" Chenxi pinched the bridge of his nose. Nuocheng’s cluelessness always gave him a migraine.
"Now ask yourself why he doesn’t want you. You just said the reason. He’s the object of your attraction. A sex toy. The perfect specimen, as you said. Be realistic, Nuocheng. Why chase him when you don’t even know what you like about him?"
Nuocheng waved his hands, he couldn’t stand this conversation anymore.
He stomped to the couch and sat down with a huff.
"Let’s not talk about this anymore, can’t a man drink in his own house again? Talk business to me this time, I don’t want to hear anything else."
Chenxi loosened his tie, letting out a breath.
"Sorry, I lost my cool for a second."
He opened his briefcase and placed the folders on the table.
"You can read these and sign them before the day ends. We can talk about the rest tomorrow."
Nuocheng flipped open the first folder, reading the first line.
"Do we really have to see that creepy old bastard? I get that he has the best farm in the country but I’m not keen on sacrificing myself for a job."
