Alvin stared at the interface floating before him, his brain briefly short-circuiting.
What appeared wasn’t a character panel, a talent tree, or an experience bar.
It was…
the Inventory?
And it was the deluxe, top-tier expansion backpack from his pre-transmigration game, featuring eighty-eight slots!!
“…” Alvin’s gaze swept over the illusory grid a few times.
The internal monologue of complaints flooded his mind like the Nile in peak season.
“Seriously, man?
I just want to ask—this ‘ultimate move’ you’ve been brewing for eleven years is just a backpack?
Even an experience bar would give me something to look forward to!
Or at least some basic attributes?
But no, you go and hand me a luggage bag?”
“Do even you think I should pack my bags and run, so you specially gave me more space for snacks??”
(`-´)ゞ
Complaints aside, any change was a good thing.
He bent down and pulled a small bag from a hidden compartment under his bed frame, preparing to test if the “cheat” he had just received actually worked.
There wasn’t much inside—just the “strategic supplies” he had prepared in advance.
Five Silver Sickles, a toy wand, a map, a stack of Muggle money, a set of old children’s clothes, and a small pouch of Floo powder.
This was the “escape fund” he had slowly hoarded after being forced to move out of the main manor house.
Alvin picked up one of the Silver Sickles.
It was shiny, bearing the official mint mark of the wizarding world.
“Put into inventory.”
With a thought, the Silver Sickle vanished instantly from his hand.
Simultaneously, in the currency display area of the backpack interface, a change occurred:
Gold Coins: 0, Silver Coins: 1, Copper Coins: 0
Alvin grinned so wide he showed all twenty-four of his teeth.
(๑•̀ㅂ•́)و✧
“It really works!
Now…
can I take it out?”
He focused his attention on that solitary silver coin in the inventory and thought, “Withdraw.”
The inventory interface flickered, and a minimalist option popped up:
[Please select withdrawal form: Silver Coin / Copper Coin]
Alvin: “Oh ho?”
It even had an automatic change-breaking function?
Then again, the game originally had this feature.
He tentatively selected [Copper Coin].
*Clatter!*
A crisp, pleasant sound of metallic clinking rang out!
A large handful of yellow Copper Knuts erupted from his palm like a fountain, spilling onto the floor and gradually piling into a small mound!
Alvin looked at the pile of Knuts—which clearly exceeded twenty-nine—and was momentarily stunned.
“Holy…
holy crap?!”
“How are there so many?
This is wrong, totally wrong!
Could it be…?”
He crouched down, his fingers trembling as he began to count.
“One, two, three…
ninety-eight, ninety-nine, one hundred?!”
Exactly one hundred Copper Knuts!
In the official exchange rate of the wizarding world, one Silver Sickle could only be exchanged for 29 Copper Knuts.
But after passing through his inventory, they were spat back out according to the game’s 1:100 ratio!?
“A net profit of 71 Knuts!”
“This is criminal!
Absolutely criminal!
Even the goblins at Gringotts would drop to their knees and call me ‘Daddy’ if they saw this!!”
Alvin stared at the pile of copper coins, then back at the plain inventory interface.
His breathing grew ragged.
“If there’s such a massive loophole with Silver Sickles, what about the higher-value Gold Galleons?”
“The official rate is only seventeen Silver Sickles for one Gold Galleon!”
“But in the game, it would be a net profit of eighty-three silver coins.
And if I turned those into copper coins…”
“Hiss—” He sucked in a breath, his eyes virtually dazzled by the vision of mountains of gold and seas of silver.
An audacious, nearly insane plan rapidly took shape in his mind.
“Buy low, sell high?
No, that’s too small-scale!
My operation is the ultimate arbitrage!
Getting something for nothing!
Total robbery without the mask!”
Thinking of the possibilities, he couldn’t help but let out a wide grin.
His smile gradually turned “deviant” in the dim light.
Without hesitation, Alvin stood up and stripped off his wizarding robes—which, though old, still bore the conspicuous Rozier family crest.
He changed into the old clothes he had prepared.
The fit wasn’t perfect, but it was enough.
He stuffed the remaining items into the inventory slots in one go.
Next came the real challenge.
He stepped out of his room.
Thanks to the various stealth games he had played in his previous life, he managed to avoid the gossipy family portraits.
Moving quickly through the shadows, he made it through the halls without incident.
Of course, he wasn’t exactly terrified of being caught and tossed into a volcano anymore.
In a worst-case scenario, he could perform a “disappearing act” with his items.
Who would dare say he wasn’t using powerful spatial magic?
A Squib?
Could your family’s Squib do this?
Still, not getting caught was obviously better.
Finally, he stopped before a heavy wooden door.
This was one of his objectives—the Rozier Family Treasury No.
2.
Treasury No.
1 supposedly held the family’s true heritage—magical contracts, ancestral artifacts, and layers of protective charms so tight not even a mosquito could fly in.
Alvin was self-aware enough not to try his luck there.
But this Treasury No.
2 contained the Gold Galleons used for daily family operations, some less-important magical materials, and such.
Its defenses weren’t exactly “loose,” but they were minimal.
Specifically—a lock.
A standard Unlocking Charm, *Alohomora*, could open it.
Alvin didn’t know the Unlocking Charm.
But that didn’t matter.
He had a literal lock-picking skill.
He fished a safety pin out of his pocket—something he had learned from a weird video he’d watched on a boring weekend in his previous life.
He crouched down and fiddled with the pin inside the lock for a moment.
*Click.* A faint sound of the mechanism releasing echoed.
The heavy wooden door swung open.
Alvin smirked.
“Puny lock.
How laughable!”
He pushed the door open and stepped inside.
By the light of the magical torches in the room, he saw the situation: in the center of the vault, several open bags of Gold Galleons were piled like small mountains; Silver Sickles were scattered like fallen stars; and in the corners were bags filled with various exotic minerals and powders.
A nearby bookshelf was packed with magical tomes.
Time was short, and the mission was heavy!
He rolled up his sleeves and got to work.
“Get in there—Store!”
As his intent manifested, it was like a whale gulping down water.
The mountains of Gold Galleons, the Silver Sickles, and the various magical materials were swallowed by an invisible vortex, vanishing into thin air instantly.
Alvin withdrew his hand and impatiently checked the inventory interface.
[Currency: Gold: 3,947 | Silver: 88 | Copper: 75]
[Inventory: The newly acquired items occupied about twenty slots!
Bags of materials took up most of them, along with some gold and silver ornaments that had been tossed in.]
Staring at the massive figure of nearly four thousand Gold Galleons, Alvin’s heart pounded uncontrollably.
If he broke all this down into Copper Knuts through the system, wouldn’t his total wealth instantly multiply twenty-fold?!
The label of “Tycoon” was ready and waiting—he just needed to “launder” the cash!
