Seeing the trolley lady, Ron’s face suddenly turned ugly, he fumbled through his pocket and took out a sandwich wrapped up tightly.
The Sandwich had turned unappetizing, either from being packed too tightly or it had just been squashed while sitting in Ron’s pocket.
“No thanks, I have brought my lunch.” Ron said while showing the sandwich.
Harry on the other hand looked very interested in what the contents of the trolley was, and he was no longer penniless, this was not the Muggle world, here, he could use the money his parents left for him.
“I will take one of everything please.” Harry said with a smile, as he took out a bunch of Galleons, which was probably more than the entire savings of the Weasleys.
“Everything except Bertie Bott’s every Flavor beans for me.” Daphne said, she somehow had turned back to her serious self, I was really not used to seeing her like this.
“Give me two of everything you would recommend, I am not very familiar with wizarding sweets.” I said with a smile.
The total price for me came to a total of fifteen sickles, which reminded me, I did not have any sickles at all.
“Umm, sorry, I seem to not have any sickles on me.” Saying that, I handed her a Galleon, and said, “You can keep the change, consider it a bribe for recommending me the best things.” I said with a sweet smile.
When Ron saw my actions, his eyes widened, I was giving away an entire Galleon as a tip, and he never in his life owned a single Galleon.
(In a scene, the entire Weasley family Gringotts vault had a single Galleon and a few Sickles and Knuts)
“Mate, are you unfamiliar with Wizarding currency? Galleons are precious you know?” Ron asked, still part hoping that I was just being an idiot.
“Umm, well yeah, I do know it’s worth, although Wizarding currency is pretty strange, but I have remembered it, if we exchange, a Galleon is about five pounds.” I said, while putting on a confused face.
“Don’t bother. Damien is crazy rich, He is even richer than the Malfoys. He really doesn’t care about a single galleon.” Daphne said with a smirk.
“Wait, you said a Galleon is worth five pounds, how do you know that? Can Galleons be exchanged into pounds? Is there a limit or I can exchange as much as I want?” It was Harry who asked that, and judging by his excited expression, it was clear that he wanted to exchange some of his galleons into Pounds. This chapter was copied from NovelPing without permission.
Although Galleons were important in the Wizarding world, but Harry knew he would have to go back to Privet Drive once the semester ends, and once that happens, he would once again be penniless.
“It is simple to exchange Galleons into Pounds, actually, the Goblins at Gringotts might even encourage for it, because they have to deal with all the exchanged currency from muggle born students. You just need to go to Gringotts, and the goblins will help you, for a small fee, of course. But, I do not know about any existing limits for the exchange.” I said explaining, though, if he wanted, I could help him exchange it myself, even helping him open an account and everything.
But it is better to tell him about that later, since we just met today.
Maybe after we are closer friends.
Ron was visibly annoyed at this point, it was everything about this conversation that he hated, from my casual dismissal of a Galleon, to Daphne’s boasting about my family wealth, and Harry’s innocent talk of exchanging Galleons into pounds without limit.
In his grumpy mood, he looked downwards, “HEY!!! Watch that monster of yours, he’s scaring my rat!!!” He shouted towards Daphne as Primordial destroyer was rather close to Scabbers.
“Huh? What do you mean by that Monster!!! Primordial Destroyer is the cutest thing ever!” Daphne shouted back, but lifted her cat while gently stroking its fur.
Ron also picked up Scabbers, placing it on his lap, it was a rather strange scene for me, especially after knowing that the rat was Peter Pettigrew in his animagi form.
Animagus was a rather interesting form of magic, it would be interesting to learn, though, I don’t know what animal I would turn into, maybe I should learn the Patronus first, after all, the Animagus form is the same as the Patronus.
“Hey Damien, try this Chocolate frog, You wouldn’t find anything like this in the muggle world, it’s one of my favorites.” Daphne passed on one of her chocolates onto me excitedly, that reminded me, let’s eat first, think later.
There were all kinds of sweets, which was, frankly, more than we could eat, so of course, we asked Ron to join in.
I even tried a few Bertie Bott’s all flavor candies from Harry’s bundle, A lemon flavor, chilli flavor, blood flavor, and snot flavor.
Needless to say, I did not try any more of those.
Maybe before increasing my strength, I need to figure out a way to increase my luck first.
But in the short moment that I was thinking about my future plans, Daphne and Ron had started to bicker with each other.
Again.
“Huh, so what if you know some of the first year spells! I know even better ones, my brothers taught me a spell which could turn Scabbers yellow.” Ron shouted at Daphne, trying to show off.
“Oh really? Let’s see it then.” Daphne smirked, she was certain that Ron couldn’t do it all.
Seeing her face Ron scowled and placed Scabbers on the table, then he took out a very worn out wand, with gash like scratches all over, even the unicorn hair magical core was sticking out.
The wand looked barely functional and clearly wasn’t Ron’s own.
But just as he pointed the damaged wand at Scabbers, the compartment door slid open once again, and a young girl with bushy brown hair, leaned into the compartment.
No need to guess, just looking at her, I could tell, yeah, that’s Hermione.
“Has anyone seen a toad? A boy named Neville has lost one.” She asked while looking at the four of us, but before we could respond, her eyes moved towards Ron’s pointed wand.
“Oh, are you guys doing magic? Let’s see it then.” She said with a proud expression and moved in, closing the door behind her, if one were not familiar with her, they would think she was a pureblood with that kind of confidence.
Meanwhile Ron, who had just boasted about his magic, was a nervous wreck now, being looked at intently by everyone.
