“Fine. As long as you finish cleaning everything within three days, I’ll pay you the three hundred thousand Jenny.”

A smile appeared on Renn’s face.

Renn walked out of the courtyard and looked around.

“Let’s get started.”

Cleanup work was perfectly suited to Renn.

Because of the Disassembler, whether he broke down objects or corpses, he could obtain useful rewards.

At the very least, he would always gain Clear Cube Fragments.

That meant even if he weren’t taking cleanup jobs, Renn would still have to seek out these kinds of things and disassemble them.

But collecting them as part of the Cleaners gave him a perfectly legitimate reason to do so without arousing suspicion—

He was cleaning them up to earn money.

And he really did get paid for it.

Take this job, for example.

Even if Renn hadn’t accepted the contract, he would still have secretly collected some of the corpses and discarded items to run through the Disassembler and see what he could obtain.

But he would have needed to do it covertly, and he probably wouldn’t have been able to collect everything.

Now that he had officially taken the job, however, Renn could process all of it openly.

Not a single item had to be left behind.

And on top of that, he would earn three hundred thousand Jenny.

The residential district wasn’t particularly large, with six streets running through it.

“We’ll clear them one street at a time.”

Renn said, “I’ll place the Disassembler in the middle of the street. You three bring everything from both sides over to it, and I’ll handle the actual disassembly.”

“Once the job is finished, I’ll take one hundred and fifty thousand Jenny. The three of you will each get fifty thousand.”

Machi raised a hand.

“Renn, I don’t need that much. I’m definitely not as efficient as those two right now.”

Machi was thinking about Renn’s interests.

Renn nodded.

“Fine. Then Machi gets thirty thousand Jenny. Uvogin and Nobunaga, you two get sixty thousand each.”

Uvogin and Nobunaga exchanged a glance.

Neither had any objection to the arrangement.

Firearms.

Bladed weapons.

Corpses…

Anything that could be considered battlefield debris was brought to Renn’s Disassembler.

One item after another was broken down.

And Renn’s gains were enormous.

Most of the corpses on the ground belonged to members of the Whale Gang or Shark Gang.

By disassembling their bodies, Renn could acquire those skills for himself.

“Theft Fundamentals progress has reached 100%. Upgrading to Theft Mastery. Current progress: 0%.”

Renn: “…”

A torrent of information entered Renn’s mind.

In an instant, he gained a wealth of knowledge about theft.

How to choose targets.

How to pick doors open…

“Under normal circumstances, I probably won’t have much use for Theft skills.”

“But I’m bound to encounter situations where they’ll come in handy eventually. The more skills I possess, the better.”

The day passed quietly.

By nightfall, they had finished clearing two streets.

Victor looked at the young man standing before him.

“How’s it going?”

“They’re extremely efficient. They cleared two streets in a single day, and those were two of the more difficult ones.”

“The Disassembler that Renn conjures can break down practically anything.”

“Building materials, knives, firearms… even corpses.”

The young man paused.

“Boss, are we really going to pay them three hundred thousand Jenny?”

“What if I tamper with things on the third day? I could dump some garbage back onto streets they’ve already cleared.”

Victor was somewhat tempted, but in the end, he shook his head.

“All four of them are fairly strong. It isn’t worth making enemies over three hundred thousand Jenny.”

“Not necessarily, Boss.”

The young man said, “We know how strong Uvogin and Nobunaga are. They’re both Enhancers and decent fighters, but against the Nen users in our gang, they wouldn’t win.”

“We have the advantage in numbers.”

“As for Renn, I think his main ability is that Disassembler.”

“Nen abilities have their trade-offs. If his Disassembler is that powerful, then I doubt he can be particularly strong in combat.”

“He may have used some special method to convince Uvogin and Nobunaga to join his team.”

“And that girl isn’t strong.”

Victor’s eyes flickered.

To someone who had just seized control of an entire residential district, three hundred thousand Jenny wasn’t actually that much.

But if there was a way to save that money, Victor didn’t mind trying.

“Send someone to test him.”

“If he really isn’t strong, then we’ll do as you suggested.”

The young man’s face lit up.

“Yes, Boss.” Follow the newest chapters on g.com.

Night fell.

The house Renn rented had three rooms.

Renn occupied one.

Machi occupied another.

That left Uvogin and Nobunaga sharing the last room.

Neither of them minded.

The two had known each other for a long time and had already built a deep friendship.

Uvogin looked at Nobunaga.

“Nobunaga, joining Renn’s team doesn’t seem like such a bad thing for us.”

“Yeah.”

Nobunaga nodded.

“The Whale Gang hired us for a job where we could’ve died, and they weren’t even paying us ten thousand Jenny.”

“Now we can make sixty thousand Jenny in just three days.”

“That’s twenty thousand a day.”

“And all we have to do is gather up some garbage and carry it over to Renn.”

“It’s easy work.”

“Renn’s division of the income is pretty fair too.”

The total payment was three hundred thousand Jenny, and Renn was taking half.

But that was completely reasonable.

After all, Renn was doing the most important part of the work.

It was his Disassembler that actually made all the waste disappear.

Renn reviewed his gains.

“I already have more than three hundred Clear Cube Fragments.”

“I have four mastery-level skills now.”

“Nen Mastery: 4.3%.”

“Firearms Mastery: 2.6%.”

“Swordsmanship Mastery: 5.8%.”

“Theft Mastery: 7.9%.”

Renn shook his head.

“I never expected Theft to have the highest progress.”

“That alone says plenty about how chaotic Meteor City is.”

Suddenly, Renn sensed danger.

His body sprang aside.

“Bang!”

A bullet struck the spot where he had been standing just moments earlier.

“Who’s there?”

Renn’s expression darkened.
