Song Ruan sat leisurely in the back of the three-wheeled vehicle, holding Ge Yan’s modified cloth shoes in one hand and the grapes Ge Yan had brought back in the other.

The cloth shoes were wrapped in fabric, so Song Ruan had no idea what the final result looked like.

In contrast, Shen Yuanming and the others had been completely left behind.Full novel: I Am a Mess, I Am Proud, I Spread Intangible Cultural Heritage Everywhere — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Shen Yuanming glanced back and saw Cen Yan squinting against the sun. He stopped the vehicle, took off his outer shirt, and handed it to her.

“Use this to block the sun.”

Perhaps because she had seen Song Bojian, or maybe due to last night’s argument, Cen Yan didn’t even offer Shen Yuanming a smile now.

She responded with polite distance: “It’s fine, no need.”

Shen Yuanming sighed softly: “Still angry?”

Cen Yan avoided his gaze and shook her head gently. After a pause, she suddenly called out: “Ge Yan!”

Ge Yan heard her and slowly pressed the brake.

Looking back, she saw Shen Yuanming stopped behind them, though she couldn’t tell what he was doing.

Ge Yan simply shifted into reverse.

“Please note, reversing! Please note, reversing!”

The vehicle slowly backed up and stopped beside them.

Cen Yan jumped off Shen Yuanming’s vehicle, completely ignoring his puzzled expression.

“Ge Yan, can I ride with you?”

Shen Yuanming was stunned, his eyes fixed on Cen Yan.

Cen Yan refused to look at him.

Shen Yuanming’s voice lowered slightly: “Ge Yan, do you dare take her away?”

In truth, this matter had little to do with Ge Yan, but seeing Shen Yuanming’s stubborn attitude, she decided to challenge him.

She exchanged a glance with Song Ruan, then turned back with a polite smile and nodded firmly.

Cen Yan immediately climbed onto Ge Yan’s vehicle and settled in.

Ge Yan started the vehicle: “Welcome to the Intelligent Voice Electric Vehicle. Self-check normal. Wishing you a safe journey.”

The mechanical female voice dutifully announced as the electric vehicle slowly moved forward.

Not far along, Ge Yan asked: “What’s going on between you two?”

Her cautious, gossipy tone seemed to genuinely forget that Shen Yuanming was her fiancé and Cen Yan was his white moonlight.

Cen Yan hadn’t expected Ge Yan to appear so indifferent. Who would gossip about their fiancé and someone else?

“Nothing, just a small disagreement.”

“Oh.”

Ge Yan responded lightly, as if it were no big deal.

Cen Yan found it strange—it shouldn’t be like this. Ge Yan had liked Shen Yuanming for so many years, practically willing to give him her whole heart all this time.

There had even been incidents like waiting outside the Shen family mansion all night in heavy snow for him.

So why did she now act as if it had nothing to do with her? Ge Yan didn’t seem like someone who could stop liking someone so easily.

Could it be related to Song Bojian?

Thinking of this, Cen Yan grew curious and tentatively asked: “Ge Yan, do you know Song Bojian?”

Ge Yan widened her eyes and looked back. So she knew Song Bojian was here—that must mean Song Bojian came for her.

Could their argument last night be related to Song Bojian?

No wonder Song Bojian had seemed so gloomy when they visited his home.

“Not familiar, haha, not familiar.”

Cen Yan looked skeptical, raising an eyebrow slightly as she studied Ge Yan.

Ge Yan sensed that Cen Yan hadn’t asked this question without reason, so she decided to take the initiative.

“What about you? Are you familiar with Song Bojian?”Cen Yan paused for a moment, recalling as she spoke, “Song Bojian is the second son of the Song family, one of the top conglomerates in the capital. Most of the Song family’s businesses are in his older brother’s hands—I know a bit about that.

As for him, during high school, he inexplicably transferred from an elite academy to an ordinary public school. Later, his university major had nothing to do with business; he just produces some films and TV dramas.

His tastes are quite strange too—sometimes it’s high-profile commercial blockbusters, and other times it’s obscure little web dramas that barely get any attention.

But—the most mysterious thing about him is his own mystery.”

Ge Yan frowned slightly. What was that last sentence about?

Could it be that listening to this was like listening to nothing at all?

Cen Yan continued, “He rarely attends public events. Especially after a car accident three years ago, he was sent abroad to recuperate, and there hasn’t been any news about him since.”

The more Ge Yan listened, the more she felt a sense of awe. Someone so aloof was willing to attend such a grand film festival just to compete for the role of producer for Cen Yan’s film.

It must be true love.

If it weren’t for the fear of getting entangled with Shen Yuanming again, Cen Yan and that Song Bojian would be a perfect match of talent and beauty.

But for now, the more important thing was to ensure that Cen Yan and Shen Yuanming would never part.

Ge Yan suddenly felt a twinge of regret for taking Cen Yan away from Shen Yuanming’s side.

Wanting to make amends, Ge Yan made a decision that went against her very nature.

Praise Shen Yuanming.

“Actually, Shen Yuanming isn’t bad either. He’s worth billions, comes from a prestigious family, and is so gentle and considerate toward you…”

Cen Yan looked at Ge Yan suspiciously, sensing something.

“So, you still like him, don’t you?”

“I like him…” for his money.

Ge Yan almost blurted out those last two words.

But for once, her mind worked quickly.

Looking at it from another angle, given Cen Yan’s nature of not being able to stand others having what she doesn’t, if she knew Ge Yan still liked Shen Yuanming, would she turn back and try to snatch him away?

Ge Yan turned and saw Cen Yan staring intently at her, waiting for an answer.

She paused for a moment before continuing, “Of course I like him. Otherwise, why would I have stayed by his side for so many years? It was only because I saw he couldn’t let go of you that I was forced to give him up for the sake of love. But seeing the two of you like this now, I truly wish Shen Yuanming would turn his head and look at me for a change.”

Beside them, Song Ruan kept munching on melon seeds, stuffing her mouth with grapes like a little hamster.

Sure enough, Cen Yan’s expression gradually turned cold.

With the situation regarding Song Bojian still uncertain, she absolutely couldn’t afford to let go of Shen Yuanming at this critical moment.

As for Ge Yan, even if it was something she no longer wanted, she couldn’t just hand it over to her.

Cen Yan could see it clearly—there must be a place in Shen Yuanming’s heart that belonged to Ge Yan.

Even if she didn’t like Shen Yuanming, she couldn’t let Ge Yan take advantage of the situation.

“Stop the car!”

The corners of Ge Yan’s lips curled slightly as she slowly pressed the brake.

She turned around with an innocent expression and asked, “What’s wrong?”

Cen Yan glanced back at Shen Yuanming, who was still quite a distance away, and without another word, jumped out of the car.

“You go ahead. I’m going to wait here. I can’t let Ah Ming be alone.”

Song Ruan, who had just finished the last grape, widened her eyes in disbelief. How could this woman change her mind so quickly?

It was absurd, yet there was a hint of logic to it.

Having achieved her goal, Ge Yan didn’t even look back as she bid farewell to Cen Yan.

“Goodbye to you!”Song Ruan truly hadn’t caught the underlying implications in their earlier exchange. She didn’t understand why Sister Ge Yan would so smoothly send a romantic rival to the person she liked.

“Sis, were you two just fighting over a man earlier?”

“Yeah, wasn’t it obvious?”

Song Ruan’s mind couldn’t quite process it, nodding half-consciously: “Mm, really obvious.”

Song Ruan worried that Ge Yan might only be putting on a brave face. She had heard some things about Ge Yan before and seen her performances. But what was always more talked about than Ge Yan’s acting skills were the scandals surrounding her.

Yet she never expected that on the first day of recording, the first person to strike up a conversation with her would be Ge Yan. Even more surprising was how Ge Yan’s outgoing and talkative demeanor was completely different from the introverted, quiet image she had seen on previous shows.
