Bothersome.
The brief exchange between him and his sister left him utterly exhausted. It was more exhausting than dealing with the people you hate.
He took a look around the room and grumbled. "If only that guy had left something behind."
Except for clothes and money there wasn’t anything else. The headache was making it worse.
"Damn it! I need a smoke."
From the brief conversation with his sister he found that most of his suicide attempts were successful but he wouldn’t die. Rather he would be left alive badly injured. After coming back to life he would lose his memory.
Now that was great. He didn’t need to come up with an excuse for his faulty brain. This saved him a lot of trouble.
A crunching sound echoed from the back.
Grim knew who it was without turning back.
"So was it successful?"
"It was. I acted flawlessly as commanded. I don’t know about anything else."
Grim turned around and stared at Mina’s obedient expression before taking a step forward.
"That’s the best decision you have made."
"So now?" Mina asked while meeting Grim’s cold gaze.
Grim took the cup of tea and took a sip. He felt the heat drenching his throat.
"I don’t need to tell you what would happen to your sister if I didn’t find out right?"
Mina trembled a bit hearing this.
How could she not know?
Those who gained power through the blessings of Gods were like hot commodities that were hunted for materials for rituals and sacrifices.
Hunting didn’t happen on a wider scale like crazy but someone like her sister who grew up in the slums with no backing was an easy target. By the time she found out there would be nothing left but bones.
Noticing Mina’s changing expression Grim nodded satisfactorily and extended his hand before grabbing Mina’s chin and startling her.
Her entire body trembled but Grim ignored it and raised her chin to lock eyes with her.
"The debt for saving her should be paid by the sister. Such a debt can’t be repaid even if you followed me for the rest of your life. I am powerless to stop you if you don’t follow me so what’s your decision?"
Mina clenched her fist wondering what this person meant.
’Did he touch me just now?’
’Is he pressuring me?’
Roaring inwardly she grabbed her skirt and thought for a moment about where to strike when her spiritual senses screamed.
A danger warning erupted in her mind. As soon as the thought of attacking arose goosebumps crawled up her spine and made her sweat.
It was then she noticed something.
Something moved behind Grim’s back and slowly crawled out forming two eyes.
The moment it turned toward her a blinding explosion erupted and blinded her vision.
Her knees buckled as she began to tremble and sink to the ground startling Grim who moved his hand away.
With his hand removed Mina directly collapsed onto the ground in deep fright.
Grim’s brows furrowed as he looked down at her.
’Now what’s going on?’
’Why does she look so afraid?’
It sounded ridiculous for her to be afraid of him who was nobody while she was a strong-willed woman.
Or did his touch plucked some strange sensation.
He opened his lips to ask when a loud frantic sound echoed.
"I will follow you."
He immediately shut his lips. A question mark hovered over his head.
Mina, seeing the coldness, shouted again. "I said I will cater to your wishes as long as it’s not beyond something I can give."
Saying this she even wrapped her arms over her chest.
In fact she wanted to say that she wouldn’t give up her body but she was a bit scared to say it out loud and just made the sign. However the next moment she found the atmosphere dropping down.
’What happened? Don’t tell me he is really after my body?’
The spiritual energy around Grim seemed to flicker and his eyes became hollow.
But wait a moment.
Is... Is that disgust?
"Do you think you are a rare beauty?"
"??"
Mina blinked her eyes, unable to process what she had heard.
"You’re overestimating yourself." Grim spat coldly which shook Mina to the core.
"Excuse me!"
"Shut up!"
"I don’t have time to hear all this bullshit. Keeping aside the ability to shapeshift, who knows how worse you look in your real appearance also..."
He lowered himself to Mina’s level and smiled. "Did you forget what I said when we first met?"
"I hate the audacity of bitches who think they are beautiful."
Mina’s face turned red, feeling as if her pride had been trampled.
’I ain’t beautiful... This dog mannnnn!’
’Is there something wrong with his ey—’
Her thoughts distorted as she saw Grim standing up and picking up the napkins. He wiped his hands.
"So since you agreed I have a job for you!" Saying this he pulled out a piece of paper and a bag of coins which he had found in the wardrobe.
"Go and deliver it to Ken in the Hounds."
Hearing the name Hounds Mina wasn’t shocked this time. Rather it would be unusual if he didn’t know it.
Seeing her staring at him blatantly while quivering on the floor Grim asked.
"Do you want tea?"
"No!" Mina shook her head.
"Then go and finish the task."
Mina immediately jumped up gritting her teeth and gave Grim one hateful look before picking up the envelope and bag.
BANG!
She closed the door with a bang and cursed.
’Son of a bitchhh... How dare you humiliate me? Didn’t you see my sister? She is such a princess yet you think I am ugly...’
’Just wait... I will dazzle you with my beauty and dig out those dog eyes.’
She was about to leave when another scream came from behind.
"Have you left?"
"No!"
"Tell Frank I have somewhere I need to go tomorrow so ask him to prepare."
Mina chirped her teeth and answered softly. "I will relay it to the butler."
Inside Grim heard the footsteps going farther away and picked up a cookie.
’Did I successfully provoke her?’ he thought and then shrugged his shoulders.
"As long as it works."he shrugged and stuffed the cookie in his mouth.
Honestly he was tired of playing games and scheming.
Isn’t it easier to bulldoze your way through?
He wasn’t someone with a high IQ otherwise he wouldn’t have been schemed against in his past life and forced to follow orders.
He didn’t even know how many loose ends he had left in all this. Still he had to move ahead and step up.
Only in this way could he survive in this eerie world.
Chewing the burst of soft flavor he unfolded a huge sheet of paper with a mechanical drawing.
"I hope they don’t have these or else it would be useless."
