Mina almost collapsed on the floor, failing to control her trembling legs. Her entire body was drenched in cold sweat as she recalled the experience.
Grim Wargrave always had that odd, cold arrogant face. Even his name was based on the fact that when he was born, he had an expression as if his family had taken a huge sum and hadn’t cleared the debt.
He always wore that rotten expression, but something was different today.
Those eyes were looking at her as if she were prey that was going to be slaughtered at any moment. Coupled with that, there was a weird, menacing aura that didn’t make sense.
The man was anything but strong. While being known for his attitude, he had been mocked for being unable to inherit the lineage.
"Didn’t he kidnap girls? Then, why did it look as if he hated it.I thought I can use his lustful nature to pry things open."
"Is this body not charming enough?" Saying this, she looked at her body shape.
People would die to have her, wouldn’t they?
Why didn’t he find her acceptable though or..
At that moment, a sudden thought flashed through her mind, making her gasp.
"Did he find out?"
How was this possible?
She bit her lip in horror.
"No, this isn’t possible. If he did, I might have been disposed of already. He isn’t wise enough to see through me. After all, I have completely copied the maid’s appearance serving him."
The paranoia was making her uneasy.
"I can’t fail now. I need to observe and find out about my sister."
"I need to find her and escape before things can go wrong."
Making up her mind, she controlled herself and left swiftly.
*******
Inside the room.
BANG!
He collapsed, slumping against the door while holding onto it.
’Damn! What was that?’
’Did Grim order her to wear like that?’
’No wonder you keep on dying, you useless piece of shit.’
But on second thought, the maid felt unusual.
Was this the standard level of beauty?
No, this didn’t make sense. My gamer sense refuses to believe it.Aside from her identity, there was another thing to look for.
Why did Grim commit suicide? Because if he died here, then how did he become a villain in the game?
His memory was also blank. There was no trace of any information in it.
"I need information!"
Getting up, he put aside the tray and decided to rummage through Grim’s things to see if there was anything useful.
*********
Sunlight filtered through the separate curtains and reflected off the shiny objects filling the entire room.
Clothes, papers, and various miscellaneous things were scattered all around the room. In the middle of it all, the ashen-haired man sat at the table with a blurred expression.
Despite spending an all-nighter, he wasn’t able to find anything significant except for minute details.
He was the firstborn of Duke Wargrave.
Besides him, there were two other children, or rather, twins.
A brother and sister who were a pain in the ass.
This bit of information he knew from the game, and from it, he could infer that he didn’t have much affection for his family, which might have forced him to become a villain.
He grabbed the calendar.
He didn’t know the date, but from the page, he could infer that it was the month of June, Year 1970 of the Horan Calendar.
"The game might have already begun in the background, but it’s yet to take center stage."
He didn’t just waste time searching through things. Instead, he recalled the game scenarios and what he should do.
At first, he was powerless and useless.
The first thing he did was try to look for a Sigil on his body, and as expected, there wasn’t one, which meant he hadn’t inherited the War Lineage of the family just like in the game.
He hoped that this version of Grim might have successfully passed through the rituals because of a weird phenomenon but he was wrong.
"Why?"
The question made him tense.
The power-ups in the game weren’t something one needed to make a lot of effort to obtain. Rather, they depended on odd sorts of peculiar rituals to receive the blessings but successfully getting over it was another thing.
Countless questions but no answers.
Knock!
"Young Master Grim!"
"What is it?"
"You refused to go out for dinner, and you have been cooped up in your room for the last two days. The Lord is worried and wants you to come out and have breakfast with the family."
Annoyance flashed in his eyes. He had already started to hate these pricks and their useless mysteries.
’I wish I could just stay alone, but...’
"Wait a bit."
Ordering him, he put on some nice, clean clothes. From the wreckage, he pulled out a long-collared shirt and stuffed a small scarf into it to hide the wound mark because he couldn’t find any plausible answer if they asked."Why is there such a hideous scar on your neck?"
Aside from the scar, all other wounds had healed and if his guess was correct, the scar should disappear by tomorrow.
Standing before the door, he reassessed the scenarios countless times before opening it.
CRUNG!
The door swung wide open, giving him the sight of an old man with white wrinkles and a gentlemanly, soft smile.
His face cracked the instant he saw the face.
’Oh my! What luck!’
’I just opened the door to find the living Yama standing before me. How awesome...’
********
Walking through the corridor, he assessed the grand world that greeted him. Each space was luxuriously decorated.
From the windows, he could see the vast stretch of meadows extending far and wide.
The servants along the way greeted him with absolute obedience. Everything felt nice and cozy, if not for the smiling old man trailing behind him with such subtle steps that his presence was hard to feel.
The butler of the estate and, in a way, the right-hand man of Grim, named Frank.
The seemingly old man wasn’t much different from any neighborhood grandpa greeting you with a smile in the morning. But behind that mask lay a horrendous face that might make you vomit.
Because he wasn’t just an ordinary Joe, but someone who would be a contender for the title of King of Assassins, the Valiant hailing from the Shadow Lineage, the Master of Seven Seals.
Having an assassin walking behind him was really nerve-wracking. By the way...
Where the hell am I going?
I don’t know a fuck about this place.
"Frank!"
The old man froze, seized up by the Young Master’s voice, and bowed.
"Yes, Young Master!"
"Lead!"
The word sounded like an absolute command, filled with authority, making the nearby servants flinch in terror.
Frank gave a mysterious smile and nodded. "Of course, Young Master. It’s my pleasure."
He just followed the old man, and it took almost ten minutes to walk through the grand mansion.
Frank took his stance before the grand door and grabbed the knob to open it.
"Have a pleasant morning!"
"You too, Frank!"
Grim walked past him and entered the hall. He saw a long dining table, at the center of which sat a muscular, stone-hearted man, the head of the house, Duke Aster Wargrave.
Next to him was his mother,Samantha Wargrave and beside her was the adopted daughter of Wargrave,Meloni Wargrave who, despite sitting in her place, looked quite out of place.
Just how tall is she?
After giving her a look, his gaze fell on his father, who stared at him intensely and spat,
"Sit!"
Grim’s whole body flinched unceremoniously, as if a certain feeling had been engraved into it.
He paced forward to pull out the chair when a stern voice echoed through the air.
"Did you fail again?"
Huh?
A confused expression spread across his face. He raised his head to look at the ashen face of the head of the family, who clicked his tongue.
"You can’t even commit suicide properly?"
The hands holding the chair tightened.
