Ugh Ugh, what kind a dream was that.
Dreaming about doing nothing but writing a book, I mean seriously is that what it’s come to?
But as I cracked open my eyes as the last vestiges of sleep were chased out of my thoughts, only to find myself staring up at the lower half of a womans face.
Only the lower half because from the nose up her head was covered in a low drawn hood.
Jostle Jostle
Even as I tried to look around and discover what in the world was going on, I could feel that we were moving, or rather the woman seemed to be carrying me in her arms and was taking me somewhere.
The term princess carry came to mind because of the dream I just woke up from, but for some reason the shame that should come with knowing I was a male and yet being princess carried by a woman didn’t come.
I felt just fine and decided to tell this woman so, giving me the chance to stand on my own, only when I reached out, an incredibly tiny hand appeared before my eyes.
“Ga!”
The sound erupted my mouth in surprise.
For some reason the hand looked foreign, perhaps because I had been dreaming about being that man… wait… was I actually a man?
The woman carrying me gave me a simple smile, before bringing up her giant hand, pressing her finger to my lips, before her other hand moved to wrap me tighter in her embrace, making me feel a bit like she was trying to strangle me.
The confusion deepened.
All evidence showed me that I wasn’t a man at all, if anything I was probably a baby, but if that’s the case why would I dream about being a man?
Was this some sort of prophetic dream about what I wanted to be when I grew up?
The more I thought the harder my brain started to ache, and before I knew it the black of sleep started to take me once more.
Leaving behind only a few babbles of a ‘Ga Ga’ to the woman carrying me, hoping my intent was understood.
~
“This is perfect.”
I heard these words, uttered by the voice of the woman who was carrying me, but when I opened my eyes for the second time, I couldn’t find her when I looked around, all I could see was a wall on my left, while the wide open night sky was above me displaying countless numbers of stars twinkling like gems in the ocean.
Even as enamoured as I was by the sight, my thoughts returned to that woman.
Why had she brought me here? Where had she gone to?
But just as my thoughts started to spiral the wall beside me moved.
Or rather, it wasn’t a wall at all, but instead a door, and with its opening came light that caused my eyes to shut forcibly feeling like I had been burned and after opening them once more, what I saw was… Giants!
A new woman, this one dressed in a hood was well, though it only sat upon her head without covering her face at all from the front.
“Oh dear, it seems there’s another one.” Her voice sounded out into the night, but with a tone that was soothing, even more so than the woman who was carrying me before.
But it was her words that shocked me more than anything.
She said… Another one?
I was as I thought, a baby, and left here, only to be recounted as just another one, did that mean where I was now, was a hospital? Or perhaps an orphanage?
As the woman shook her head and began to bend down attempting to bring me into her arms, I squirmed and struggled, trying to free myself from my bindings, but I was wrapped up to tight, and before I knew it I was being lifted up once more.
“Go Go Ah!” I tried desperately to protest being treated like this.
“Oh my what a lively child we’ve gotten this time.” The lady spoke out once again, using one arm to cradle me, while the other teasingly poked at my cheeks.
Which caused me to giggle in glee due to the touch feeling like I was being tickled.
Before I knew it due to the distraction she had taken me inside of the building and closed the door.
Once inside she quickly undid my binding and gave my body a once over both with her eyes and with her hands.
But she smiled at what she found, even remarking that my parents must have loved me.
The next thing she did was rewrap me in my bindings before placing me in a structure a bit like a wooden cage, bars separating me from the person next to me.
Which at a glance confirmed my own state.
On my side was another baby fast asleep tightly wrapped in a blanket, no doubt the same state I myself found myself being in.
Confirming that this indeed must be an orphanage of some sort.
The days that followed did so at quite some speed, as I settled into this new life quite easily.
That dream I had was the only one like that, as all other dreams that came were simply about seeing that woman again, the woman I presumed to be my mother, others were of being older and helping the sister out around the orphanage.
Even one where I was k-kissing one of the ophan girls when I was older, a thought that always caused me to blush.
Our caretakers here seemed to be sisters of some sort of church.
One older sister, and two quite a bit younger ones who seemed to tend for us all in shifts.
But as the days turned into weeks, before then turning into months.
I couldn’t help but feel something was odd.
The thoughts in my head clearly made me different from the other children.
They always seemed to stare blankly at the walls or ceiling, only ever lighting up when they saw the sisters, or managed to flop over to spy another kid.
But then there was myself who seemed to have better control of my body, and a mind that was clearly racing thinking all the time, and having thoughts that none of the other kids probably ever even considered having.
Maybe I’m just a genius? I wont really know if that’s true until I try to learn how to read or write, perhaps become one of those hero things that man was writing about in that dream I had so long ago.
The sisters also told us all stories about heroes, and each one would cause the lot of us to cackle and cheer as best we could when good managed to triumph over evil.
