Chapter 6: The Lion’s Den

I Can See Your Flaws. Now Let Me Turn You Into a Monster

The early morning sun fractured across the training courtyard, casting a sharp glare over the nineteen commoner students who had spent the last seven days pushing their anatomy to the breaking point.

The atmosphere was no longer filled with the quiet desperation of a rejected class.

Instead, a violent, rhythmic symphony of grunts, slicing wooden swords, and heavy boots thudding against the earth echoed off the stone perimeter walls.

Near the back of the yard, Silas was undergoing a severe, specialized endurance circuit.

His uniform was completely drenched in sweat, his chest lifting and falling in a rapid, agonizing cadence.

He held a heavily weighted iron training bar across his shoulders, his thighs trembling violently as he executed his hundredth deep squat.

His vision blurred, his muscles screaming at him to drop the steel bar and collapse into the dirt just as he used to do.

Do not stop, Silas roared internally, his jaw clenching so hard his teeth clicked.

Crimson did it.

Crimson broke the scale.

I am not failing this class.

At that exact microsecond, a strange, burning sensation ignited deep within his skeletal structure.

The invisible, fragile genetic threshold holding back his base conditioning suddenly fractured.

The heavy iron bar felt a fraction lighter, and a sudden surge of raw, unadulterated energy flooded his lower core.

A tiny, translucent ripple of golden force hummed beneath his skin, a clear, definitive sign that his own physical parameters were beginning to crack their baseline caps.

Instructor Gage stood near the iron gates, his cold eyes capturing the subtle physiological shift in Silas's movement.

He did not say a word, but he noted the progress down to the exact millimeter within his internal mind.

The seeds had been planted, and the rest of Class F was officially beginning to sprout.

Glancing down at the gold pocket watch in his hand, Gage clicked the device shut and tucked it neatly into his vest.

"Maintain your current loops until sunset," Gage commanded flatly, his voice instantly silencing the yard.

"Do not drop the pace."

"I have a minor administrative errand to attend to."

"Yes, Instructor!" the nineteen students shouted in perfect, synchronized harmony, their focus immediately returning to their brutal routines without a single second of hesitation.

Gage turned on his heel and walked calmly away from the courtyard, navigating the grand, opulent corridors of High Pristina Academy.

His destination was the Grand Council Chamber, a massive, restricted amphitheater located deep within the central ivory tower where the topmost authorities of the institution gathered to dictate the laws of the campus.

As Gage reached the towering, double arched mahogany doors of the chamber, two heavily armored elite guards stepped forward, their halberds crossing to block his path.

Their armor was etched with glowing blue mana runes, radiating a distinct, aggressive pressure meant to intimidate any ordinary commoner.

Gage didn't even slow down.

He simply continued his forward stride, his piercing eyes locking onto the guards with such an absolute, freezing intensity that the two men instinctively froze.

A primitive, survival driven panic seized their hearts, causing their hands to tremble as they rapidly pulled their weapons back, allowing the doors to swing open.

Gage walked into the chamber, his hands casually tucked inside his trousers pockets.

The council room was a vertical, tier based theater.

Dozens of arrogant head instructors, high ranking elemental mages, and wealthy, lavishly dressed noble house representatives sat along the high curved stone benches, looking down at the central marble floor like judges preparing to condemn a criminal.

The moment Gage stepped into the center of the room, the collective atmosphere shifted.

Without a single word of warning, a massive, suffocating wave of combined magical pressure erupted from the upper tiers.

The high mages and noble lords intentionally released their raw mana auras, blending fire, lightning, and gravity magic into a crushing weight designed to instantly force a commoner to their knees, fracturing their composure before the trial could even begin.

The air in the chamber grew visibly heavy, the stone floor subtly vibrating under the immense magical load.

Gage strolled into the exact center of the pressure zone, completely unbothered.

His posture remained immaculately straight, his tailored suit jacket didn't even rustle, and his breathing remained entirely regular.

He stopped, looking up at the high tiers with an expression of complete, icy indifference, as if the crushing mountain of royal mana was nothing more than a gentle summer breeze.

The high mages shifted uncomfortably in their seats, their faces turning slightly pale as they realized their combined power was failing to elicit even a single blink from the man below.

Gage narrowed his eyes, allowing his personal interface to silently sweep across the row of judges, scanning the statistics of the elite masters who presumed to sit in judgment over him.

Target: Head Instructor Malakor (Class A Chair)

Mana Level: A Rank

Physical Conditioning: F Rank

Overall Danger Assessment: Minimal Blip

Target: Duke Sebastian of House Vance

Mana Level: S Rank

Physical Conditioning: E Rank

Overall Danger Assessment: Minor Inconvenience

A faint, invisible ripple of amusement passed through Gage's mind.

The entire ruling body of the academy was composed of fragile glass cannons, individuals who possessed high magical outputs but whose physical forms were so weak and unconditioned that they were barely a blip compared to his own UNKNOWN metrics.

"Instructor Gage," a loud, booming voice echoed from the highest seat.

Head Instructor Malakor leaned forward, his face twisting into a mask of severe, arrogant authority.

"You were brought here to account for the highly irregular, illegal anomalies occurring within Class F."

"A talentless commoner successfully incapacitated three noble heirs of Class A using unclassified, unrecognized physical methods."

"This council demands that you hand over the exact training manuscripts, illegal enhancement potions, or forbidden arts you utilized to alter that boy's body."

Sitting beside Malakor, Duke Sebastian of House Vance slammed his heavy gold rings against the stone railing, his eyes burning with aristocratic rage.

"You have humiliated my bloodline, commoner!"

"If you refuse to surrender your training methods to this council immediately, we will strip you of your teaching credentials, seize your assets, and bury you alive within the deepest dungeon of the academy perimeter!"

"Speak!"

The threats echoed loudly off the high marble walls, the noble representatives glaring down at Gage with absolute, predatory malice.

They expected him to tremble, to beg for mercy, or to desperately bargain for his life.

Instead, Gage stood entirely motionless in the center of the floor.

The silence in the room stretched out, growing longer and heavier with every passing second.

The arrogant smirks on the nobles' faces began to stiffen as Gage simply stared up at them, his eyes dark, hollow, and completely devoid of any human emotion.

The atmosphere in the grand chamber began to curdle.

A sudden, instinctual chill swept through the room, completely unrelated to magic.

It was the raw, primordial terror of a sheep realizing it had locked itself in an enclosed space with an apex predator.

Gage slowly removed his hands from his pockets, adjusting the silver cuffs of his suit sleeves with a terrifyingly slow, methodical precision.

When he finally spoke, his low, calm voice carried a distinct, absolute weight that caused the air in the chamber to completely freeze.

"You speak of dungeons and stripped credentials," Gage murmured smoothly, his words slicing through the heavy air with razor sharp clarity.

"As if your titles hold any meaning to a creature that can erase this entire tower before your hearts can beat another turn."

The entire room gasped, several mages instantly reaching for their catalysts in sheer panic.

"Let us make one thing perfectly clear to this council," Gage continued, his voice dropping into a register that vibrated straight through the stone foundations of the floor.

"I am not an employee of your academy."

"I am an evaluator."

"If you dare to step into my courtyard again, or if you dare to touch a single thread of my students' clothes before the midterm festival, I will not simply strip your titles."

"I will silence your voices permanently."

"The silence of death is a very loud thing, lords."

"I suggest you do not force me to demonstrate how deafening it can truly be."

The final sentence dropped like a physical anvil.

The entire Grand Council Chamber fell into an absolute, suffocating, deathly silence.

No one screamed.

No one cast a spell.

The high mages, the wealthy house representatives, and even Head Instructor Malakor sat entirely paralyzed in their high seats, their throats completely dry and their bodies shaking uncontrollably from a sheer, instinctual terror they couldn't even comprehend.

The absolute weight of Gage's presence had completely broken their psychological composure without him drawing a single weapon.

Gage turned his back on the frozen council, his tailored suit coat swirling smoothly as he walked toward the grand exit.

The heavy doors flew open before him, and as he stepped back out into the bright morning light, the powerful elites of Pristina Academy remained trapped in a state of absolute, petrified horror behind him.

The boundary had been drawn, and the midterm festival was officially set to become a slaughterhouse.
