The ninth stream opened at one thousand eight hundred and forty people, which was four hundred more than the eighth, and every single one of them was there to apologize.

we have been good we have been SO good mothbite: nobody mention the post. do not mention the post krill: we are not mentioning the post we're not mentioning the post but I would like it noted that I have not slept ch1287: I took the day off work. not joking. I have PTO left and I used it sable my capture card has been off since yesterday. I'm not touching it. I forgot where the switch is bigcatt: eleven hundred of us held the line for a month. whatever happens tonight we did that we are so normal. look at us being normal fourdollarsamonth: we are the most normal people on this website

Josh, on the second monitor, watched the counter and thought: this is the last good hour we're going to have.Full novel: I Draw Shapeshifter Porn. She Is Real and Won’t Leave Me. — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He was correct, and he was correct in a direction he couldn't have predicted with a hundred years and a spreadsheet.

✦ ✦ ✦

She held out for an hour.

It was, objectively, one of her better hours. She was in a good mood, which for Luna was a distinct and dangerous weather system, and she spent it being wrong about the Ottoman Empire and then explaining that milk should be illegal, and the whole time eighteen hundred people, then nineteen, then two thousand, sat under it with their hands folded, not asking.

They didn't ask. A month of begging every stream, and on the one night she'd left the door open, not one of them touched the handle.

At about the hour mark she stopped mid-sentence, looked into the camera, and said:

"You've all been very good."

(Luna:Oh, they liked that.)

The chat did something Josh hadn't seen it do before. It slowed. Two thousand people typing, all at once, and the whole column went quiet for a long second like a room where somebody's father had walked in.

And Luna, who read a room the way other people read a headline, filed that instantly and reached for the nearest available bit.

"So good," she said. "Such good kids."

✦ ✦ ✦

The bit was supposed to be a joke.

Josh was sure of it. He'd thought about it more than he would have liked. The joke was look at you, you're children, you've been in the corner for a month. It was mockery, it had a sneer built into it, and the sneer didn't survive contact with her voice.

Because the voice came out wrong.

Or right. It came out about four notes lower than she meant it to, unhurried, warm at the edges, with a smile sitting on top of it, and there was a specific register a girl got into when she was enjoying having somebody's full attention and was in no hurry at all to do anything about it. She reached for a joke and her mouth handed her the other thing without asking.

"Mommy's not angry," she said. "Mommy was disappointed."

Josh, in the doorway with a bowl in his hand: Oh no.

OH

OH MY GOD mothbite: I need everyone to remain calm mothbite: I need everyone to REMAIN krill: mothbite has left the chat spiritually

I am a grown adult say it again pagefour: I came here to write a post about parasocial dynamics in small-mid vtuber communities. I am not going to be writing that post

She said it again.

Then she leaned into the desk, which she didn't normally do, and rested her chin on one hand, which Josh had never seen her do, and let a little more of the height out of her shoulders so that she came down into the frame instead of sitting above it, and the whole thing was so precisely, professionally aimed that Josh put the bowl down.

"You waited," she said. "A whole month. Not one of you ran off. And tonight nobody even asked me."

we didn't ask we would never ask we're asking so hard internally

"I know," Luna said. "I could hear it."

✦ ✦ ✦

Each line was hotter than the one before it, and she was doing it on purpose by then, because she had found out immediately that this thing worked better than anything she'd done on camera, and she didn't leave a working tool on the floor.

She told them they'd been patient. She told them patience gets rewarded. She told them that she had been thinking about it, about them, all week, which was a lie, and Josh knew it was a lie, and it didn't matter even slightly.

The counter went 1,990. 2,010. 2,040.

The donations came in sideways the whole time, unasked, the way they always did.

And then, at the top of it, riding the highest energy of the night, Luna said the following sentence:

"I'd forgive you completely if you jumped into the screen."

✦ ✦ ✦

Thirty seconds.

Josh had the graph afterward, and he went back to those thirty seconds about forty times.

2,040 → 1,710 → 1,380 → 960 → 540 → 350

✦ ✦ ✦

The chat, what was left of it, went completely blank for a second and then filled up with people asking the same question in different fonts.

what what just happened where did everyone go is the stream down. is it down on my end mothbite?

mothbite where did you go krill's gone bigcatt's gone ch1287 is gone and that guy does not leave guys guys what if they actually what if they actually tried to jump through the screen lol lmao even

Luna, on camera, said: "Where did my kids go?"

And Josh, standing in the doorway with his phone in his hand, felt the first cold thing go down his spine, because he had spent a month in that fandom's back rooms and he knew exactly what those people were like.

✦ ✦ ✦

Then her X started blowing up.

The reason it was X and not a message had been eating Josh alive for a month. She had no inbox anybody could reach. Every DM on every account she ran was closed. If anybody wanted to show Sable a photograph, there was one way: post it in public, on the timeline, and tag her.

Sixteen hundred people needed to show her a photograph.

@sablevt i did it

@sablevt for you

@sablevt am I forgiven

Every post had a picture on it. Every picture had a monitor in it.

Every monitor was destroyed.

@sablevt 27 inch. 144hz. worth it

@sablevt it went further than I thought it would. the desk came with it

@sablevt I want to be clear that I understood it was a joke. I did it anyway

@sablevt [photo of a cracked ultrawide leaning against a radiator] mommy I'm sorry it took me two tries

@sablevt my roommate is standing in the doorway and he will not stop saying my name

@sablevt [photo of a forearm, wrapped] worth it. no hospital. wrapped it myself. do NOT worry This chapter is updated first at g.com.

@sablevt didn't break. tried three times. I have failed you and I have also failed to break a monitor a reply: bro that's a TV. you can't break a TV like that. you have to a reply: don't tell him how to break a TV

@sablevt 4 of us in a discord call did it at the same time on the count of three. one of us is fine

@sablevt [photo] I don't have a monitor anymore. I'm typing this on my phone. I regret nothing and I would like to know if it counted

Luna read maybe six of them.

Then she said, out loud, on stream: "They jumped into the screens."

And then, and Josh would watch this part back more times than the thirty seconds, she opened X on the stream.

On the shared screen. Where the other three hundred and fifty people could see it.

✦ ✦ ✦

The second drop was faster than the first.

She got a few seconds of stunned quiet and then the counter simply fell out from underneath her, and this time she was watching it happen live, and this time she understood what she was watching.

"No — stop — STOP—"

346

"PUT IT DOWN. WHATEVER YOU ARE HOLDING—"

280

"I'M NOT ASKING—"

201

"STOP."

146

She sat there in front of one hundred and forty-six people with her hands up.

"...Mommy's not angry," she tried.

Nothing. One hundred and forty-six people, and not one of them typed a word.

The bit was dead. She'd killed the bit.

✦ ✦ ✦

Behind her, Josh had gone through the whole thing in a few seconds and it went like this:

A vtuber told her audience to jump into their screens and they did it.

The photographs are public. They are on a public timeline. They are tagged with her name so that they can be found by anyone searching her name.

One of them has a bandage in it.

Someone is going to write this up. Someone is going to write this up tonight. There will be a thread and then a video and then a proper article and the headline is already written, it writes itself, it is ten words long, and every one of them is true.

Sable told her fans to break their monitors. They did.

That is not a scandal you survive. That is not "creator says something stupid." That is a person who used a parasocial relationship to make other people destroy their property, live, for content, and it is on video, and there are receipts, and there are hundreds of them, and they are all in public, and the receipts are the fans themselves, and there is no version of what comes next in which either of us —

He sat down on the edge of the bed.

Then he did not sit down on the edge of the bed, because he was on the floor.

I told her to trust the audience.

Then nothing.

✦ ✦ ✦

Everything after this, he saw the next day, on the VOD, with a blanket around him.

✦ ✦ ✦

Luna turned around to ask Josh what to do and found him folded up under the desk chair like a dropped coat.

She looked at him for a second.

Then she turned back to the camera, because she had one hundred and forty-six people and a problem, and no help was coming.

(Luna:These people are insane about me.)

She put her chin back on her hand.

"Kids," she said, four notes lower. "Come back. Mommy's not angry."

✦ ✦ ✦

They came back on phones.

The counter climbed in ones and twos, and every name arrived with a version of the same message.

mothbite: on my phone. monitor's dead. present krill: phone. present. mothbite are you seeing this we're all on phones mothbite: I see it bigcatt: phone. and I would like to formally request that you never say that again please never say that again sable I am begging you. do not give us another condition. we will do it. that's the problem. we will absolutely do it ch1287: I have three monitors. HAD ch1287: I have one monitor we're not safe. we've established we're not safe

I have a family

"You do?" said Luna.

not the point

"You were very good," Luna said.

The chat made a sound. A chat can't make a sound, and Josh, watching it back, would swear on paper this one did.

"All of you. Look at you. Look what you did for me."

OH GOD mothbite: SHE'S DOING IT AGAIN. SHE'S DOING IT AGAIN AND I AM NOT LEAVING

I'm on a phone. I have nothing left to break. I am UNKILLABLE krill: we found the exploit. break the monitor first. then she can't get you

"Good kids get rewarded," said Luna.

✦ ✦ ✦

Meanwhile, out in the world, the timeline was doing what a timeline did with sixteen hundred photographs of broken monitors, all with the same handle attached.

what is happening on my feed right now why are there so many broken monitors ok I have now seen nine of these and I need somebody to explain the girl this is the head rotation girl. this is the same one. the filter one

"the filter one" she has an ARMY apparently

I have watched vtubers for years and I have never seen anything like this. these people BROKE THEIR MONITORS. on a JOKE going to go see what this is

I'm going too. purely as an observer

The counter, which had been at 146, went through 1,840 and didn't stop there.

2,240

Luna didn't look at it once. She had stopped caring about the number the moment it started going up, because she had a bit running, and the bit was working, and she was busy.

She was hyping the reward.

✦ ✦ ✦

She hyped it and kept hyping it. Josh timed it afterward, professionally, like a competitor.

She never said what it was. She said they'd earned it, that it was better than what they'd asked for, that they weren't ready, that she'd been saving it: all of it improvised, none of it planned, every line landing on an audience that had already destroyed household property for her and was therefore not a difficult crowd.

Then she said:

"Mommy's milkers. For such obedient kids."

And she shapeshifted.

✦ ✦ ✦

It wasn't a morph.

Josh had spent six years drawing the slow version. The tasteful version. The one where it takes eleven panels and the light changes and you can see it happening by degrees. He had built his whole career on the slow version and he had watched her do the slow version in his living room for weeks and he had never once seen her do this. This chapter was taken from novelping dot com without permission.

She got both hands under her chest and pulled.

Forward, and out, and it was a physical action: the effort showed in her shoulders, she braced against the desk, and there was an exact instant when the flesh gave and came with her hands like something being drawn out of a shape rather than expanding into one. Weight arrived. It wasn't there and then it was there, a few full sizes of it in about the time it took to pull off a sweater, and the skin that wasn't a shirt went with it without a seam or a strain anywhere, and her whole frame absorbed the new mass in one sharp settling motion, and she let go.

And it moved. It kept moving after her hands were gone.

Then she sat back, arranged herself, and said, "There."

✦ ✦ ✦

On the VOD the next day, with the blanket around him, he was hard before she let go. Six years drawing her, and I never drew anything half that good.

✦ ✦ ✦

The chat stopped being a chat.

It became a column of noise moving too fast to read, at a speed the platform itself visibly struggled with, and it stayed at that speed for the rest of the stream and didn't slow down once.

SHE PULLED THEM

SHE PULLED THEM WITH HER HANDS

THAT'S NOT A FILTER THAT'S NOT HOW the mass. WHERE DID THE MASS COME FROM

I'm a rigger. professionally. that is not possible with a rig. I want everyone to hear me say that krill: I TOLD YOU. I TOLD ALL OF YOU. A MONTH I TOLD YOU it BOUNCED. after. it kept ok so LEBU has been building this. that's it. that's why she wouldn't shapeshift. he's been building this for a month

^^^ that's it. that's the answer. Lebu was cooking mothbite: nobody cares about Lebu mothbite: sorry. genuinely. no offence to the guy. but nobody cares about Lebu right now

Lebu who never heard of him there is no Lebu. there has never been a Lebu

Six years of readers. Josh watched his entire professional identity get deleted by his own fandom in one scroll of the chat, and the worst part was how efficiently they did it, like a crew that had been drilled.

And the new ones, the four hundred or so who'd come in as tourists, purely to see what sort of person makes strangers break monitors, saw the pull with no context at all, and stayed.

They clipped it. Obviously they clipped it. It was out on four platforms before she'd finished the sentence after it.

✦ ✦ ✦

Luna couldn't engage anymore.

She said so afterward: the comments were flying too fast to read, and they wouldn't stop. She'd built a whole job out of talking to a room, and somewhere in the last hour the room had turned into weather.

And the donations.

Josh didn't have a clean number for the donations, because the alerts stopped resolving into individual events at some point and became a single continuous sound, and because when he did go and look at the total the next morning he closed the tab and went and stood in the kitchen.

He did have some of the individual ones, and he wished he didn't.

fourdollarsamonth — $2,400

The guy's handle was four dollars a month. He had been giving Josh four dollars a month for years.

ch1287 — $900. "monitor fund. not for me."

a name nobody recognised — $6,000, no message bigcatt — $310, then $310, then $310, then $310

Four names: $2,400, $900, $6,000, and $310 four times, which was $1,240. Together, $10,540, from four people.

Somewhere out there, that Tuesday, a number of grown adults did something to their finances that they were going to have to explain to somebody, and Josh didn't get to feel good about that column.

✦ ✦ ✦

She was about to end it.

She had her hand on the mouse, and she was, for the first time since he'd known her, visibly done, and then a comment went past.

sable someone's clipped it already. it's on tiktok

Luna stopped.

"I got clipped again?" she said. "Who did it?"

The chat turned into a courtroom in seconds.

not me

NOT ME we're going to burn them name. we need the name let's form a committee mothbite: I'll run it. I have the doc from last time spam enough reports that he's banned from eternity someone doxx him that guy shouldn't be allowed to live

I've found it. 400k views. I have the account post it don't post it. mothbite has a process mothbite: I have a process

"Hey. Hey." Luna put both hands up. "I am not mad anymore. Let him go."

but he clipped you he CLIPPED you sable someone go find that guy's real house and kill him

^

^^ mothbite: nobody is killing anybody. we're reporting. that's the process we can report AND no

"Like I said." Luna leaned in. "I'm not mad anymore. From now on, clipping is allowed."

The chat's entire ecosystem died on the spot: a month of laws, a pinned rule set, a document, an enforcement culture, a moral order.

"But only from my troops."

A pause.

"Yes, my troops." She was building it as she said it; Josh could see her finding the shape of it about a syllable ahead of her mouth. "I am forming an army. Join my army, as I wage war over the internet—"

She sat back.

"—with these mommy milkers."

She did not move her body.

They bounced anyway.

And every single person in that room saw it.

✦ ✦ ✦

The chat didn't recover. Josh wasn't sure it ever did.

She ended the stream a little while later, at a peak of two thousand eight hundred, which was less than half of stream one's, except that this time none of them were leaving.

Then she got up, walked across the room, and slapped Josh in the face until he woke up.

(Luna:This little prick was sleeping while I made an army.)

"Wh—"

"Get up."

"What—" He got as far as one elbow. The room went sideways and came back. There was a blanket involved and he didn't know where it had come from. "What happened. How bad is—"

"Manage my army," Luna said, and left him there.
