Adrian
It didn’t take few minutes for Nikolai’s gaze to instantly become indifferent.
With a seeping cold gaze, and a voice that hint at disgust, he muttered-
“Adrian, you are nothing but a child to me.”
My lips almost dropped, and my gaze failed me.
The frown, and my gritting teeth struggled to keep those words hidden in my belle.
The veins on my arms were visible as my fist tightened.
He could tell, his words had affected me.
There was a sense of victory in his eyes, and when his lis curled slightly, I sensed his satisfaction.
I must have thought wrong.
I could never be his type.
I’m a prey of his, and he was mine.
I seemed to have forgotten my place.
His eyes bore hatred for me, and my vision would cause him to be my enemy.
How could I have allowed ecstacy, get the better of me.
That feeling was gone, what remained was pure hate for the man standing in front of me.
A child?
I bit down on my lips, trying to calm my nerves but he did it again.
“Little boy, don’t forget, one wrong move and you are dead.
Crossing the lines every now and then, will not help you.”
A deadly scoff left my lips and I bored my eyes into his ferociously.
Not even a mantra would be able to stop the chaos I was going to bring down on him.
“Child?”
I muttered as if giving him one more chance to correct his mistake, but Nikolai nodded. Read this novel at g.com for the best experience.
He walked passed the door as if I gave him such rights to leave.
When I got to him, I grabbed his arm and tightened my grip to threaten him.
“Don’t you dare call me that ever again.”
I could see the shock in his eyes, but soon overwhelmed with rage that could cause a storm.
But I wasn’t letting go of him, until he made his plea.
Nikolai didn’t seem like he would ever do that.
I was flared in anger, and my breathing hinged.
“Adrian, let go of him.” A familiar, yet unrecognizable voice at the moment muttered and it only caused my turmoil to increase.
Without looking, I yelled-
“No one asked for your opinion.”
When he heard my words, I could see how he turned his head slightly.
His lips parted, and his eyes widened.
The hint of shock was clearly projected.
“You must have been drinking.” He said curtly.
I couldn’t hide my disdain.
I threw his hands in the air, but he restricted it and let it hang.
“Stay away from me Nikolai.” I warned and he smiled.
“I’ve told you before Adrian, we aren’t friends.
And one more word, I wouldn’t spare those lips of yours.”
Another threat!
“Those threats no longer get to me, Nikolai Volkov.”
“It seems like I’ve underestimated you Adrian, after all you are Leonardo’s bastard.”
“I’ve heard that all my life, you might need to come up with something more interesting.”
Nikolai clenched his fist and for once I could see he was deeply affected by my words.
When he took a step towards me, there was not a hint of fear cowering in my body.
I stared at him deadly, looking up at his 6,5″ self.
“Adrian…” He muttered softly, and suddenly –
The quicks of high heels trod towards us and grabbed Nikolai’s arms.
“Uncle Nikko, that’s enough.” Isabel was quivering.
When I met her eyes, she seemed frightened.
She was gently tapping on Nikolai, and her lips pleading for me to stop.
“I wonder what Leonardo thinks of this?” Nikolai muttered as he broke his gaze.
I followed his eyes, and instantly my body cowered.
“Adrian, I’ve mistaken you for a gentleman.” Gabriel muttered.
Everyone was present.
Liliana, Vivian and even Leonardo.
I was doomed.
Not just because of Leonardo, but if this engagement gets bursted, I might never be able to find out which of the Mancini’s tried to have me killed.
“Isabelle, hasn’t this engagement run longer than it should?” Nikolai broke the dead silence in the hallway.
“I guess so.” Isabelle knew, there was no exchanging words with Nikolai, not in this present state of his.
She mellowed her gaze as they walked past me.
“Wait!” Leonardo halted them.
“Adrian, apologize!”
