Adrian

The morning light shone brightly and it hit my eyes.

I raised my hands to cover my eyes and when I looked around, it was a white painted room, not much of anything aside from the EKG machine and the IV drip stand.

It was a hospital, but it looked more like a bedroom.

A woman dressed in a casual outfit walked in with a medical tray in her hand.

“You are awake?” She hurried over and checked my eyes with a little torch.

“How do you feel?” She asked.

“Just fine, a slight headache.”

“That’s normal, I will get the doctor.”

Doctor?

I held her hand before she could walk away, “where is this place?”

“Your home Mr Adrian.”

My brows crinkled, “Home?”

“Yes, home.” She responded and then let out a small smile.

She didn’t hesitate, she walked out and shut the door behind her.

The room was unfamiliar, it didn’t seem like I was at the Moretti, perhaps, it was the Mancini’s.

My lips parted.

There was a window beside me.

I tried to stand, but pain shot through my head and dropped me back onto the bed.

When I touched it, there was a bandage wrapped round my head and wires connected to it.

I laid back down, waiting for the doctor.

It didn’t take long before he arrived with the woman.

“Adrian, it’s a good thing you are awake.

You gave everyone quite a huge scare.”

“We have to take you for some tests.”

“Test?

I thought we weren’t at the hospital?” I frowned.

“It is a hospital, but just for the family.

You’ve been registered as a family member in the Mancini’s.

He held back his words.

The woman removed the wires from my head and then wheeled me out of the room.

There was a long hallway, and each door we passed through seemed to be a different ward.

We entered the MRI room and I was laid in the machine.

After the tests, the doctor turned to me and said,

“The results are fine.”

There was another doctor who was in charge of this space.

He handed the results over to the lady and said-

“Give it to him.” He looked at me briefly and rolled his eyes.

There was a hint of disdain in his gaze, as though I was nothing but a useless person.

For someone who we’ve never met, I wondered how he came to have such an impression of me.

I tried not to ponder on it.

When I caught his gaze again, I could tell he was a twink.

After the woman wheeled me back to the room.

“You will have to remain here for at least a week, make sure to listen to the nurse, Mrs Thompson, and do as you are told, that way you will be able to leave here sooner.”

I tried to nod but failed brutally.

The last memory before passing out suddenly flickered, and Nikolai once again occupied my thoughts.

I wondered if he had just left me here, or perhaps…

“Have there been…” I didn’t finish when the doors opened and Isabelle rushed in.

“Adrian.” She ran towards me and took a seat beside me, “I had just left for .”

“You’ve been here?”

“Yes Adrian, you’ve been unconscious for the past one week.”

A week?

“Nikolai?”

“He isn’t at home for now.” Liliana answered as she walked inside.

“Thank God you are finally awake.

I will let Nikolai know.

He was here earlier.”

“He was?”

Liliana seemed to have said that unintentionally, she quickly covered her lips and said, “He had some work.

But I promise he did check on you.” This chapter is updated first at novelping.com.

I thought wrong, again.

There was no way he would be here just because I was hospitalized.

“He actually has some equipment he purchased to enhance the family’s hospital.”

“Of course.” I looked away.

Typical of him.

I wonder why he came to my rescue, perhaps, it was another work…

Time went by in a flick, and when the moonlight shone I stared dazey at it.

The wires on my head have been removed, there was the IV left, but I could move around.

I leaned on the wall as I looked outside the window.

Leonardo hasn’t visited the past two days, neither have…

My thoughts drifted to Nikolai again and I frowned.

Forget it.

But then, the smell of his perfume when he carried me in his arms, and the grip around my waist, even at that moment of death, I couldn’t have wished for a better way to die.

I gulped, snapping myself out of such thoughts but then-

Two men dragged a man towards the building opposite.

Behind them, a man dressed in a dark long coat and pants walked behind them.

It was Nikolai.

His aura gave him away.

When they reached the entrance, they entered.

I wondered what Nikolai was up to, perhaps it was one of the guys from the kidnapping.

Curiosity hitched on my throat and I couldn’t help but pace around waiting…

After about an hour a car parked in front and they walked out.

Nikolai entered and they drove off.

The guy being dragged wasn’t with them.

It was an opportunity…

If I could make it there before they get back, perhaps…

I was skeptical, scared even.

Would he kill me if he finds me there?
