CH 14: Hundred Pulls

I fell in Marvel with Essence Gacha but I’ve never heard of Marvel

“Wish me luck,” Lex said as he pulled up the gacha screen before him. The translucent blue interface lit up faintly as the current points displayed themselves.

485 Points.

November had already started, giving him another hundred points automatically.

After thinking for a moment, he decided to go for a full hundred rolls, costing 300 points in total. Ten pulls guaranteed a single character card and a single 4★ card, while a hundred pulls guaranteed all of that along with at least one guaranteed 4★ character card.

Soon, a hundred glowing cards floated before him in the air, spread out almost like a scattered deck suspended in space itself.

Lex started flipping through them one by one, quickly noticing a few new and rather surprising types of cards among the pulls.

Some of them belonged to the category he had started calling General Cards, since instead of having a specific world listed under them, they simply had: General.

From the hundred cards, around seventeen turned out to be General Cards. Some of them he had already seen before while others were completely new, though most honestly didn't seem all that useful right now.

Even the World Travel cards were probably something he wouldn't touch anytime soon. As it was, he still hadn't even properly explored this world yet.

Still, getting another Gacha Storage Card was genuinely useful. The Reroll Card also seemed like something that could become useful later on. The Character–Template Card especially caught his attention too, simply because of how flexible it sounded.

After going through the General Cards, Lex finally moved onto the character pulls.

Looking at the characters… or the AI companion, Lex honestly didn't know what to think.

He had somehow gotten two more characters from DC despite already having Donna. Maybe there was actually some sort of pattern behind the pulls.

But honestly, that wasn't even the weirdest part.

The weirdest part was the complete lack of guys.

Lex counted again silently.

Only two males.

“There is definitely something wrong with this Gacha…” he muttered under his breath.

Still, the pull itself had been absurdly lucky. A hundred rolls only guaranteed one 4★ character card, yet he had somehow gotten four of them.

That alone made the entire pull worth it.

As Lex looked through the characters more carefully however, his excitement gradually cooled down into thoughtfulness.

He could definitely use some of them.

Actually, most of them looked extremely useful.

But summoning people one after another without even getting to know them first honestly sounded like a terrible idea.

Summons weren't servants.

They were actual people.

People with their own personalities, values, histories and problems.

At the very least, he needed time to familiarise himself with them first, build some trust and understand what kind of people they actually were.

Sharon had already warned him before not to blindly trust summons simply because the cards described them positively. The cards only described abilities and general information, not who those people truly were.

Some could be manipulative.

Some unstable.

Some might simply be evil.

The only restriction placed upon them was that they couldn't intentionally harm him or his interests.

The problem was...

Lex himself didn't even know what exactly counted as his interests.

“Hey Donna,” Lex suddenly called out while looking over toward her, “do you know anyone called Power Girl? Or… what's a Kryptonian?”

Donna looked thoughtful for a moment, almost as if trying to sort through incomplete memories.

“I don't recall anyone specifically called Power Girl,” she admitted slowly. “But my memories still aren't fully reliable.”

Then her eyes shifted slightly as she continued.

“Though I do know what Kryptonians are. They're an alien species that look human, but under the right conditions they're basically god-like beings with all kinds of powers.”

Lex blinked.

That sounded mildly terrifying.

“What about Blackfire? Or Tamaraneans?”

That got a more immediate reaction out of Donna.

“Oh I've definitely heard of Blackfire,” she replied while narrowing her eyes slightly. “Maybe I've even fought her before? I honestly don't know.”

She folded her arms while looking at the card again.

“But she's definitely no superhero. Extremely useful probably… but not someone I'd recommend summoning lightly.”

While Donna could at least give him some information regarding the DC-related cards, the others still remained mostly mysteries.

Most of them at least sounded like they could fit into this world.

Merlin, Fleur and Nanami however sounded like they came from outright magical worlds.

Gwen Tennyson was also magic-related, but since she had apparently fought aliens before, her world was probably more modern.

Bang originally sounded like some martial arts master, but the name of the world itself made it sound more like a superhero setting instead.

Grayfia however...

Lex's eyes lingered on the card for a second longer than necessary.

A powerful devil noble.

Peerless maid.

Teleportation.

Ice magic.

That sounded dangerous for entirely different reasons.

“I definitely need a maid…” Lex muttered quietly before pausing. “Okay no, not need… but definitely want.”

From the side, Sharon gave him a completely unimpressed look.

Lex immediately pretended nothing had happened and moved on.

As for the Template cards he had gotten… those were interesting too.

[Max Payne - Template

Rank: ★★★

Type: Template

World: Max Payne

[Gregor Clegane - Template

Rank: ★★★

Type: Template

World: Game of Thrones

Description: A monstrous knight feared throughout Westeros for his overwhelming physical strength, brutal combat style, immense endurance, and terrifying presence on the battlefield.]

[Darth Vader - Template

Rank: ★★★★

Type: Template

World: Star Wars

Description: A feared Sith Lord and former Jedi Knight consumed by darkness. Darth Vader possesses immense mastery over the Force, overwhelming combat prowess, ruthless tactical instincts, and an imposing presence feared throughout the galaxy.]

Looking at the templates, Lex was genuinely surprised to see a four star one among them. Since he could currently only equip two templates at a time, he needed to choose carefully.

After thinking for a while, he eventually decided on Darth Vader and Gregor Clegane.

Gregor's template was simple and straightforward. Overwhelming physical strength, endurance and brutality. Something he could probably adapt to quickly without much issue.

Meanwhile Darth Vader's template clearly seemed far more complex. Just from the description alone, it felt like something that would require actual training and understanding to properly utilize, which made focusing on it first the obvious choice.

As for Aoi Todo...

That seemed tied to another completely different power system altogether. One that would probably take time to understand properly before he could make full use of it.

Doing that after Darth simply made more sense.

Other than these 34 Cards there were many interesting cards too, some even four stars which was expected as 10 four star cards are guaranteed.

[Teleportation System Staff

First thing he noticed was the Teleportation System Staff, which honestly felt like an incredible pull since he had wanted some kind of teleportation ability for a while now.

The three-day cooldown however was pretty frustrating.

Still, instant long-distance teleportation was absurdly useful no matter how he looked at it.

Monstrous Strength could probably be given to Sharon. Out of everyone currently around him, she benefited from a straightforward physical enhancement the most since she was still mostly baseline human physically.

Lex himself could also use it of course, but after the Bryan Fury template his strength was already pretty solid and future templates would likely increase it even further anyway.

Unshadowed Crucifix was… an odd one.

The thing honestly sounded dangerous.

Useful too, definitely useful, but the side effects were concerning enough that Lex immediately decided he probably shouldn't touch it casually.

Though admittedly…

Selling it to someone you hated without explaining the side effects sounded absolutely hilarious.

Trip to the Desert-inator on the other hand was somehow even more ridiculous.

Lex stared at the card for several seconds.

Whoever created this thing had to be a complete lunatic.

You create a device capable of instantly teleporting people anywhere and decide to use it exclusively for sending people to the desert?

Honestly, respect.

Milim Eye meanwhile sounded genuinely amazing. Lex had absolutely no idea who Milim was, but she apparently had incredible eyes.

The ability itself was useful enough that he immediately decided he would use it as soon as he finished going through everything else.

Dragon’s Fear was more of a double-edged sword.

Still, Donna would probably be the best person to use it. She would naturally be immune to her own roar while Lex himself would likely remain unaffected because of Essence of Transcend Self.

If they were ever surrounded by weaker enemies, the skill could probably wipe out entire groups psychologically before the fight even properly started.

Quirk - Assault was obviously another ability meant for Sharon.

Pairing it with Monstrous Strength and Sharon’s already terrifying combat skill would make the upcoming mission significantly easier.

Ray Tracing was… difficult to judge.

The description sounded incredibly useful, but also vague enough that it could either become absurdly powerful or disappointingly situational depending on how exactly it functioned.

Gjallarhorn however made Lex hesitate slightly.

Not because it sounded weak.

Quite the opposite actually.

That was the problem.

Anything connected to divine entities and ancient guardian beings sounded like the kind of thing that attracted attention from creatures he absolutely did not want noticing him.

Still…

It also sounded unbelievably cool.

So unless things went horribly wrong, he’d probably avoid using it immediately.

Probably.

Build was another surprisingly useful pull.

Honestly, he had assumed the gacha would already provide something similar eventually, but the actual usefulness of the skill depended entirely on what the seven preset blueprints really were.

If one of them included a proper hidden base or fortified mansion, the value of the skill would increase dramatically.

Brise meanwhile immediately caught his attention.

Having another vehicle was already useful by itself, but this one was effectively a disguised armored war machine.

More importantly, it fit the whole “Merlin” identity surprisingly well.

A mysterious magical figure driving around in an absurdly advanced transforming combat vehicle honestly felt weirdly on-brand.

Not to mention it would be useful for any more openly heroic activities where subtlety stopped mattering.

Either way, Lex was definitely excited to try it out.

Then there were the four-star draws.

Archangel Blade immediately stood out.

A weapon capable of permanently killing angels, demons, and supernatural entities sounded absurdly dangerous.

Honestly, it would have been extremely useful against that demon from before.

Though considering the demon had promised they would meet again…

Maybe getting the blade now wasn't the worst timing.

Divine Eyes of Depth was another terrifyingly useful ability.

Combined with Milim Eye, the two would probably complement each other incredibly well.

One focused on perception and truth while the other seemed capable of analyzing flaws and weaknesses themselves.

That combination honestly sounded unfair.

Nihil Light on the other hand was just raw overwhelming power.

Ignoring resistances, enhancements, and defensive abilities was the kind of effect that sounded simple until you realized how absurd it actually was.

For the first time since arriving in this world, Lex briefly wondered if he might already be approaching the level where he could stand alongside actual Avengers.

That thought was… mildly terrifying.

Sandalphon meanwhile was complicated.

The weapon sounded ridiculously powerful, but Lex honestly didn't think he personally needed another weapon right now.

It would probably be better suited for one of the summons instead.

Though neither Sharon nor Donna really fit it considering both already had their own preferred fighting styles and weapons.

Still, depending on how strong it actually was, it might simply be too useful to ignore.

Finally there was Heretic Magic.

That one immediately made Lex uneasy.

Soul-related abilities were exactly the kind of thing that sounded horrifying in practice.

Still…

This universe clearly contained a massive amount of supernatural nonsense and as far as Lex knew, there were plenty of creatures where simply destroying the body wasn't enough.

Having something capable of directly affecting the soul might become necessary much sooner than he wanted.

However, this wasn't all he had gotten, there was a single thing, a single card that could be considered extremely useful and was definitely the most amazing card from these hundred pulls, a single five star card which had appeared purely through luck as there was no guarantee of a five star card at all.

[Ultimate Skill - Raphael, Lord of Wisdom

Rank: ★★★★★

Type: Skill

World: That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime

Description: An Ultimate Skill embodying supreme wisdom and analytical authority, regarded as the skill most likely to evolve into a Manas. Raphael grants immense thought acceleration, analytical appraisal, parallel calculation, chant annulment, comprehensive understanding through All of Creation, alteration capabilities, and the power to synthesize or separate abilities, matter, and information.]

Just looking at it, Lex was excited. If the description claimed it embodied supreme wisdom and analytical authority, then what sort of absurd power was this supposed to be?

And more importantly… it was five stars.

Even things like the Archangel Blade, a Kryptonian which according to Donna was an almost godlike race and Darth Vader, who was described as being feared throughout an entire galaxy, were still only four stars.

As soon as he tore the card apart, he felt a change within the Essence of Transcend Self, as if it was stopping the creation of the skill. But as he tried to understand what was happening, Lex realized it wasn't rejection.

It was permission.

The skill itself was being created using a part of his own soul.

The moment he consciously allowed it, he felt the change immediately.

It was as if something new, something different had appeared within his own consciousness.

As he mentally reached toward it, he found a massive web of processing. It was adapting, rapidly going through everything he possessed, every memory, every ability and every piece of information.

“Can you understand me?” Lex sent the thought toward the web of wisdom and immediately saw it react.

<Affirmative.>

A female voice replied back.

Monotonous.

Emotionless.

Precise.

“Since we share the same mind, you probably already know what I'm currently worried about. Can you help me in that regard?” Lex asked while thinking about the girls once again.

<Requesting permission to utilize all available abilities and skills excluding Essences.>The voice responded instantly.

Since it was essentially still one of his own skills, Lex decided to trust it and granted permission.

Immediately, the processing power increased to an absurd degree.

His access to his own thoughts did not diminish, rather it felt as if his mind itself had expanded. For the first time in his life, Lex truly understood what multiple trains of thought actually meant.

Then he felt his Telekinesis react.

Usually, he only used it as a force to move objects, but Raphael used it differently. The invisible force rapidly spread outward across the entirety of New York before narrowing toward the farmhouse. Lex himself couldn't move anything at that range.

No.

Raphael was using Telekinesis to observe.

To perceive.

To map.

Another thing he noticed was his Quirk - Dead Signal reacting to his phone before suddenly going silent.

The next moment, Lex gained full access to the internet directly within his mind.

<The X-Men as well as the Brotherhood of Mutants will be making their move within a few hours. If you wish, you may go there first and rescue Kitty Pride and Alison Blaire. However, if you decide on that, please make use of at least the recommended Gacha Cards on yourself first.>

Raphael explained while simultaneously showing him everything, including pictures of the kidnapped girls, their current location inside the farmhouse and even information regarding the X-Men and the Brotherhood.
