“Hey, big bro, could you let me have this blue buff?”
Hazel Sinclair put on a cutesy voice, leaning close to her phone as she spoke, her tone becoming even sweeter.
On the screen, the jungler, who had been attacking the blue buff, immediately stopped.
Seeing this, Hazel Sinclair quickly maneuvered her character to secure the blue buff.
After she got it, she immediately put on the sweet voice again and spoke into her mic.
“Thanks for letting me have the blue, jungler bro.”
“Love you.”
And Leon Sterling heard every word.
His dark gaze fell on Hazel Sinclair from behind.
He stood at the door without saying a word, just watching her quietly.
Hazel Sinclair felt a pair of eyes on her.
After the team fight was over, she glanced toward the doorway and saw Leon Sterling standing there, his face dark.
“You’re back?” Hazel asked casually.
Leon Sterling placed the items in his hands on the dining table one by one.
He walked up to Hazel, snatched her phone away, and then gripped her chin, staring at her as he spoke slowly.
“Hazel Sinclair, you call other men ‘bro’ behind my back?”
“Is ‘love’ a word you can just throw around so easily?”
Hazel felt a sharp pain in her chin.
She slapped his hand away, glaring at him as she demanded, “What the hell is wrong with you?”
“You’re getting mad over a video game?
Are you going through menopause or something?”
“Instead of being paranoid, why don’t you go make some more money?”
As she spoke, she pushed him away and reached for her phone.
‘Thank god we won that promotion match,’ she thought.
Leon Sterling just stood there, watching her quietly.
After a moment, he finally asked, “Is money the only thing you care about?”
“It’s money.
Who doesn’t care about it?” Hazel said as she collected her in-game rewards.
She glanced at the time and saw it was already eight in the evening.
‘No wonder he’s home,’ she thought.
“Hurry up and make dinner.
I’m hungry.” By now, Hazel felt no guilt at all ordering him around.
Leon didn’t leave.
Instead, he cupped the back of Hazel’s head with one hand, his lips immediately following to press against hers.
Hazel’s chattering mouth fell silent.
Leon expertly parted her lips and deepened the kiss.
Hazel’s eyes flew wide, her face a mask of shock.
‘He’s kissing me!’
When the kiss ended, Leon pulled back, his eyes locked on hers.
“Hazel Sinclair,” he said, “from now on, you are not to call other men ‘bro,’ and you are not to say the words ‘love you’ to any other man.”
“If I hear you say it again, I’ll make you regret it.”
Hazel wiped her kiss-swollen lips, glaring at him viciously.
“Get out!” she yelled.
“Get out and go make dinner!”
Leon grabbed her foot, his face still devoid of expression.
“Do you understand?”
With her foot captured, Hazel tried to pull away, only to find he had a tight grip on her ankle.
This made her even more furious.
“Let go of my foot!
Go make dinner!” Hazel yelled, still trying to yank her foot free.
But Leon neither spoke nor moved, simply watching her in silence.
Finally, Hazel sighed in resignation.
“I get it.
Now get out of here.”
“Then give me a kiss,” Leon said, pushing his luck.
That did it.
Hazel snapped, kicking him in the chest with her free foot, her exquisite features twisted in fury.
It was a furious expression, yet in Leon’s eyes, she looked radiant and captivating.
“Don’t think you can do whatever you want just because we’re legally married!
You want me to kiss you?
Dream on!” Hazel shouted.
Just as Hazel was about to truly lose her temper and show this man who was boss, he immediately let go of her ankle, stood up, and said, “I’ll go make dinner.”
“The milk tea and flowers are on the table.
The cake will be delivered a bit later.”
Leon was a lot more talkative today.
‘He must have been provoked,’ she mused.
He was also afraid that one day at work, he’d suddenly get a call from Hazel telling him she wanted a divorce.
Hazel sat up straight, her brow furrowed as she watched his retreating back.
‘This man is different today.’
‘He used to come home and be a total clam, never saying a word, just quietly doing things.’
She glanced at the milk tea he’d bought—it was the strawberry mochi flavor she loved.
Staring at the man’s broad shoulders and narrow waist, Hazel clicked her tongue, her mind replaying their kiss.
‘This guy’s lips are actually really soft.’
‘And he’s a pretty good kisser.
Looks like he’s had plenty of practice.’
‘At least I finally got a taste.’
Hazel’s gaze drifted to his waist.
‘I wonder how intense those hips are when they get moving,’ she mused.
‘Tsk, if only he’d do a little twerking for me.’
BEEP—
Her WhatsApp buzzed.
Hazel exited the video she was watching, tapped on the notification, and saw another friend request.
‘Another stranger.’
‘Who on earth keeps trying to add me?’
‘Do I have a treasure map tattooed on my back or something?’
To figure out what they wanted, Hazel tapped “Accept.”
The moment she accepted, two voice messages came through immediately.
Hazel glanced at the voice messages and tapped play.
She was used to doing as she pleased when she was home alone.
The message played on speaker, loud enough for both people in the room to hear every word with perfect clarity.
[Skylar: Hey, beautiful.
Must be lonely all by yourself at home.
Interested in some in-home service?]
[Skylar: Innocent but fiery, cool and aloof heartthrobs, sweet puppy-dog types, fierce wolf-boys, cold and dominant CEOs…
I’ve got them all.]
Hazel froze mid-sip of her milk tea.
Even Leon, who was at the sink washing meat, paused.
At that moment, her WhatsApp went DING!
Hazel scrambled to turn off her phone, glancing guiltily at Leon as she explained in a small voice, “Don’t get the wrong idea.
I’m not planning on cheating on you.”
“So you *are* planning to cheat on me?” Leon turned to face her, a humorless smile on his lips.
“AHEM—” Hazel cleared her throat and rushed to say, “What are you talking about?
If I wanted to cheat on you, do you think I’d need to do it like this?
There are plenty of men who’d be happy to have me.”
Leon looked at her, and whatever he was about to say dissolved into a sigh.
‘My wife is too beautiful, and her mind is too wild,’ he thought.
‘I really can’t get by without money.’
He finished searing the steak just as the cake he ordered arrived.
Leon answered the door, brought the cake in, and set it on the dining table.
Hazel immediately started opening it.
‘Let’s see what a cake that costs at least a thousand dollars looks like.’
She peeled back the layers of packaging to reveal a pure white swan cake.
The faint scent of sweet cream filled the air, and Hazel took a small sniff.
‘The cream smells amazing.
This thousand dollars was definitely worth it.’
She opened her phone’s camera, adjusted the settings, and handed it to Leon.
“Take a picture of me.”
Hazel held the cake, a large bouquet of fresh flowers placed beside her.
Her half-finished milk tea was cast aside.
She looked into the lens, the corners of her lips turning up into a radiant smile.
