Xu Lin gritted his teeth at her words.
He glanced at Grandma Cheng’s sharp gaze, then at the mocking smile on Cheng Yu’s face.
Lowering his head, he spoke to Xu Mian in a quiet, controlled voice, “See? This is all because of you! Since it’s your mess, you deal with it yourself!”
With that, Xu Lin stepped back a few paces, clearing space.
Grandma Cheng let out a cold, mocking laugh. She looked at the young girl standing in the living room.
The girl’s eyes were pale and indifferent, her expression casual, as if she didn’t care about the situation at all.
Grandma Cheng curled her lips. “Not bad. You have more backbone than your useless father. But little girl, in the real world, backbone alone is never enough.”
As she finished speaking, a violent glint appeared in her aged eyes. She raised her hand and gestured casually: “Hit her!”
Immediately, five burly men behind her stepped forward, each grabbing Xu Mian’s arms.
Grandma Cheng smiled, and Cheng Yu casually picked up a grape from the side.
Xu Lin turned his back.
A moment later
The sound of heavy objects hitting the floor rang out.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Then came low, muffled cries.
The room went silent.
Xu Lin didn’t open his eyes, afraid to see blood he was terrified of it.
Cheng Yu leisurely returned to peeling his grape.
Only Grandma Cheng witnessed everything. She rubbed her wrinkled eyes, doubting what she had just seen.
Xu Mian remained standing in the same spot, brushing imaginary dust off her sleeve, and lazily said, “Anyone else? Come on, don’t waste my nap time.”
Grandma Cheng lowered her gaze and waved her hand.
Over twenty bodyguards from outside the villa filed in.
Outside the Cheng villa, a limited-edition car drove straight through.
When Xie Yan arrived, Xu Mian stood casually in the hall, arms crossed, arrogantly asking, “Is that all? Want to keep going?”
Then, stepping in her harmless little white sneakers, she walked toward Grandma Cheng, step by step.
A sly, wicked smile curved her lips, her gaze radiating a cold, piercing menace.
She stopped in front of Grandma Cheng. Hands behind her back, she leaned slightly forward.
At that moment Grandma Cheng caught the dense, metallic scent of blood emanating from Xu Mian.
Her eyes flickered.
Xu Mian laughed arrogantly, disdainfully. “What? Scared?”
“Grandma,” Xu Mian spoke deliberately, word by word, “You’re getting old don’t let your temper be so big, or you’ll die early. Understand?”
With that, Xu Mian tugged her lips into a smirk, turned arrogantly, and walked past the bodyguards sprawled on the floor, leaving without looking back.
Xie Yan and Wang Hao stood at the doorway, watching her figure disappear.
A moment later, Xie Yan laughed aloud.
Wang Hao looked at the bodyguards lying all over the hall and swallowed nervously. “Miss Xu… her skills are incredible. Mr. Xie, are you sure… she won’t get domestic abuse in the future?”
Xie Yan raised an eyebrow. “With pleasure.”
Wang Hao was speechless.
Meanwhile, the elderly matriarch, frozen in horror, finally came to her senses.
The young girl had radiated an aura that rivaled Lin Yin in her prime!
She was simultaneously frustrated at being intimidated and impressed such a person could never be kept around.
In the future, she would be a disaster!
Better to eliminate the threat before her power grows!
“Mr. Xu, your daughter is impressive!” Grandma Cheng pressed Xu Lin. “I didn’t expect someone like this could come from the Xu family. Looks like our cooperation is off the table.”
Xu Lin immediately broke out in a cold sweat down his back.
“Ms. Cheng, it’s all a misunderstanding!”
“Is it?” Grandma Cheng narrowed her brows. “If Xu Mian is your daughter, then this is on you. If not, then naturally I’d personally teach her a lesson. Mr. Xu, is Xu Mian considered a Xu family member or not?”
Xu Lin was now forced to choose between his company and Xu Mian.
He stammered, “Everyone knows I favor Xu Die… she’s the daughter I truly recognize.”
Grandma Cheng smiled and gestured to her subordinates. “Make sure Xu Mian disappears from the streets of Lincheng tonight.”
As her subordinates moved, someone slowly entered through the door. Grandma Cheng squinted, and upon recognizing the newcomer, immediately stood.
“Mr. Xie! What an honor to have you here today.”
Xie Yan, clad in an elegant suit, swept a cold gaze across the hall.
His eyes lingered on Xu Lin’s face for a few seconds, clearly showing disgust.
Grandma Cheng instinctively thought the Xu family had offended this Kyoto magnate.
She was about to speak, but Xie Yan’s voice cut through coldly: “Miss Xu is a benefactor of the Xie family. I heard someone today tried to give her trouble, so I came to see who dared to go against my Xie family.”
His tone was icy, detached, and commanding.
Grandma Cheng was stunned. She looked at Xu Lin, who was frozen to the side.
“Mr. Xu, Miss Xu… do you know Mr. Xie?” she asked through clenched teeth. “Why didn’t you say so earlier?”
Xu Lin was dumbfounded.
Xu Mian a high school dropout, a so-called useless girl how could she possibly know someone like Xie Yan?
Xu Lin stepped forward, bowing slightly, polite and cautious. “Mr. Xie, which Miss Xu are you referring to? Xu Mian or Xu Die?”
Xie Yan raised an eyebrow, his expression mocking. “Mr. Xu, have you been raising someone else’s daughter for so long that you can’t even remember your own? Xu Die is the girl your maid brought in before marriage. Did I get that wrong?”
Moments later, Xie Yan’s sharp eyes darkened. “Or… does Mr. Xu have some secret, untold family scandal we don’t know about?”
He was implying Xu Die was Xu Lin’s biological daughter.
Xu Lin’s heart skipped a beat. He immediately denied it. “No! I have only one daughter, and that’s Xu Mian.”
Xie Yan’s gaze remained cold. “Good. Remember who your daughter is. Miss Xu has done my Xie family a great favor. Wherever she is, whoever disrespects her is declaring war on my Xie family.”
He cast a fleeting glance at Xu Lin, then looked at Grandma Cheng. “I’m reasonable, so I suggest no one makes me unreasonable. Otherwise, the outcome will not be what any of you want.”
Xu Lin kept saying, “Yes, yes, understood.”
Grandma Cheng lowered her head. “Yes, yes, a misunderstanding… it’s all a misunderstanding!”
Xie Yan finished speaking and glanced at the now-stunned Cheng Yu.
He tilted his head slightly and asked, “Just now, did you really say you wanted Miss Xu to lick your foot?”
Grandma Cheng was horrified and quickly explained, “It was a misunderstanding! All a misunderstanding!”
Xie Yan smiled faintly and adjusted his sleeve. “Since Grandma Cheng cannot teach the child, I’ll do it myself. Wang Hao.”
Wang Hao nodded and pulled out a sledgehammer from behind him.
A scream of agony tore through the air.
Xu Lin, completely terrified, crawled away from the Cheng residence.
