“Ah!!!”

Xu Mian carried the framed photo to dinner.

Xu Mian carried the framed photo for a walk.

After returning, she placed the frame neatly in the living room and boldly ate some fruit.

“Mom, this is our home. Do you still recognize it?”

“Hmm. That vase you auctioned it back then, remember?”

“This furniture set, you picked it out yourself.”

“Master bedroom?”

Xu Lin and Wang Fang froze at her words.

They were terrified that Xu Mian might take the frame into their bedroom.

Fortunately, Xu Mian leisurely said: “Forget the master bedroom. Someone’s in there anyway. Don’t go looking for Dad tonight he might be busy. Seeing those kinds of dirty things is unlucky.”

Wang Fang felt the entire villa turn eerie.

She nudged Xu Lin.

Xu Lin pressed his lips together and approached cautiously. “Mian Mian, walking around all day with a framed photo isn’t that a bit inappropriate? Your Aunt Wang and your sister are both scared.”

“What’s there to be afraid of if you haven’t done anything wrong?” Xu Mian ate fruit while watching TV, her tone casual. “Besides, everything inside and outside this house belonged to my mom. If you’re afraid, just move out. My mom wouldn’t keep you here anyway.”

Xu Die was terrified, screaming: “Xu Mian! That’s enough! Mom’s been dead for years! And you’re still using her to scare people! Scaring Dad that’s unfilial!”

Xu Mian was peeling an orange.

She tossed the peel into the trash and gave Xu Die a cold look.

One second later.

Xu Mian clapped her hands and stood up. “I don’t have a mom?”

Her gaze suddenly turned ice-cold.

The faint smile on her lips vanished completely.

“Yes, you have a mom.”

“You’re lucky.”

“The nanny climbed into my poor dad’s bed and suddenly moved in, acting all arrogant.”

Wang Fang noticed the redness in Xu Mian’s eyes.

She immediately grabbed Xu Die’s hand and hurried her upstairs.

Their retreating figures were rushed.

Wang Fang knew Xu Mian had a mental illness, a deep-seated one, and had once lost control completely.

Xu Mian’s earlier demeanor mirrored that exact past state.

“Mom! I don’t want to live in the storage room!”

“Be patient!”

“When the trust fund arrives, Mom will buy you the prime property on the mountainside!”

Xu Die pouted. “Really?”

Wang Fang: “Of course. Your dad loves you so much you know it yourself. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have brought you into the board. Over the years, he couldn’t officially acknowledge you and feels guilty. In the future, he will make it up to you doubly. Stand firm in the company, build good relationships with the other board members, and eventually Xu Corporation will be yours.”

Xu Die reluctantly nodded and entered the windowless storage room.

Xu Mian crossed her legs, relaxed. Xu Lin, irritated, asked, “Are you really going to work at the hospital tomorrow?”

Xu Mian glanced at Xu Lin. “Why?”

Xu Lin had previously thought Xu Mian going to Shengming Hospital was unacceptable, but now he just thought: let her go! Keeping her around would give him a heart attack!

After all, it had been so many years.

Xu Mian was just a little girl back then what could she have noticed?

Now she probably just felt he spoiled Xu Die more and was jealous.

Even if Xu Mian did have suspicions, so what?

Back then, everything had been executed flawlessly.

What could a little girl uncover?

Xu Lin laughed at his earlier worries and said to Xu Mian: “If you feel working at Shengming isn’t going well, you can tell Dad. Mian Mian, you have to trust Dad no matter what, Dad loves you. You are his biological daughter.”

Saying this, Xu Lin sat on the sofa, posing as the good father. Xu Mian, disdain written on her face, pointed Lin Yin’s memorial photo directly at him.

Xu Lin was like a man on pins and needles, and within a minute, he rushed upstairs.

Xu Mian laughed loudly from below.

Everyone in the villa trembled at the sound, full of fear and dread.

Xu Lin grit his teeth and growled, “Xu Mian and her mother both should just die!”

Xie Yan’s car arrived at Shengming Private Hospital in the border city.

The director personally received him.

“You… coming at this hour… is because ?”

The director couldn’t blame himself it was already eleven at night!

Inspecting work? Who inspects at eleven o’clock at night?

The new investor was aggressively taking over, holding half the shares of the hospital with the Xu family. The director, not knowing the temperament of this Kyoto newcomer, smiled apologetically.

Xie Yan stood at the hospital entrance, surveying the surroundings.

Pointing like a general: “Environment’s too poor remove the weeds. That road is too narrow, staff cars can’t get through easily. And over there…”

Cold sweat broke out on the director’s back. He didn’t understand why the new shareholder was critiquing the surroundings late at night.

Wang Hao smiled slightly and said politely to the director: “Our CEO has high expectations for your private hospital, so he personally came to Shengming. Give him an idle post.”

The director’s heart skipped a beat. “Does this mean our work ”

Xie Yan raised a hand, offering no explanation. “Everything I mentioned must be rectified by tomorrow. My office must remain quiet. No need to grant me authority, and don’t reveal my identity.”

Then he got into the car.

The director bowed repeatedly. “Please take care.”

The car didn’t leave just sat there. The director bent down to ask if Xie Yan needed anything else, and heard the refined voice from inside: “When does the hospital open?”

Director: “8:30 a.m.”

Xie Yan waved his hand. Wang Hao told the director: “You can start the rectifications.”

The luxurious, limited-edition car sat arrogantly in the hospital.

The director’s assistant whispered: “Does CEO Xie really value our hospital this much?”

“Value? Ha. This is Kyoto’s untouchable new wealthy elite. Any project he invests in is at least ten billion. Do you think he cares about the meager revenue of our hospital? He’s clearly crazy, paying 250% above market price to buy half the shares of this private hospital.”

“There’s something fishy!”

“Definitely something fishy!”

The director suddenly remembered something and grimaced: “Tomorrow, Xu CEO’s daughter, Xu Mian, will intern here. Make sure she’s treated well!”

The secretary paid little attention: “Xu CEO has a daughter? I thought Xu Die was his daughter… She’s already on the board. Now this one is coming to our private hospital? Isn’t it obvious which is more important? Why worry about some fallen princess?”

The director muttered irritably, “Anyway, don’t offend anyone. All of them are troublesome. Better send them off peacefully.”

Night deepened.

Inside the luxury car, Xie Yan, unusually, closed his eyes, doing nothing.

“CEO Xie, it’s late. Better rest at the hotel. There are still several hours until 8:30 a.m.”

As he spoke, Wang Hao saw Xie Yan’s hand on his lap trembling slightly.

Long after, the trembling, low voice echoed inside the car.

“Wang Hao.”

“Five years.”

“I can finally approach her again… how could I sleep?”
