After spending a while comforting and playing with the friendly unicorn, Mark returned back to inspect his mother’s pod with a solemn look on his face. His gaze drifted over to the life-operating machines that surrounded her.
The weight of the situation always held somewhere hard and deep within his chest and it always hurt, most especially as a kid. But even when he had grown a bit now, it still felt bitter or worse even. Because right now he had the power and capabilities to change this situation unlike when he was younger as just a kid.
Whenever he looked at her sorry state he always felt the urge to just burst out in tears just like Tasha had, but he always tried to maintain his order and stance as the guy of the family. This was the similar feeling that he always had for his dad since he was born and it was really a traumatic experience to handle then.
Wiping out the little tears that brimmed and threatened to spill out from the corners of his eyes, he caught himself not to be vulnerable. Then a thought came to his mind with sudden realization.
Mark stood up to his feet. He had paid a visit to his family without even getting any little gift on his mind. That was really awful and cruel for his manner and he needed to fix that.
He also realized that Tasha hadn’t bothered to ask him about the result of his summoning trial. She might have been paranoid to discomfort him by asking, in case it didn’t go well, or she simply didn’t have it in mind.
The former seemed to be the case because he knew her and her character of curiosity to spill it out whenever she wanted to know the answer.
Along the way he moved through the corridors to find a gift shop to purchase one for his mother. But then he felt something crawl through his skin that made him pause his track the moment he moved across a particular empty room. He could tell that no one was inside through the window, but the door was closed.
Curiosity caught his mind as he moved toward the door to test if it was locked or just closed. The moment he held the knob, the door swung inwardly with momentum that carried him within the apartment.
His instincts screamed heavily at him with warning that he had failed to heed when he stepped inside. It all happened in an instant but the entire room had already disappeared to be replaced by something else. His eyes widened with shock.
The place that surrounded him wasn’t the hospital room anymore, but an entire landscape of a spare, thick forest where giant boulders sprawled around the place with shrubs and bushes. Trees that towered high surrounded the place to make up a wide clearing. Dry fallen leaves littered the floor like a stretching carpet.
The atmosphere was dark with a gloomy sky above that stretched like a wall. There was a wide path that led deep through the trees and shrubs. Mark’s eyes narrowed as the realization struck his mind. This was exactly what he had seen from the news notice in the airport terminal.
There had been a spike of dungeons around the city. And one of them, a Lost Dungeon that had no indication of its whereabouts, had just appeared inside the room of a clinic as a foreboding trap for anyone who was unfortunate. He was the victim of this trap, but if it had been any other person like a staff or even with a patient, it would have been their fatal end.
This trap was so diabolical and of all the places it was within the most crucial and lifesaving center. If it had been his sister that had fallen as a victim of this trap, he didn’t know what to even say about that.
But in a sense he didn’t know whether to term himself as dead and unlucky or as fortunate; he could use this as a precious opportunity to his favor and he wouldn’t like to waste it.
His time of patience instantly disappeared when he noticed some figures that came into view from the nearest trees. Their humanoid bodies were covered with thick dark furs and under their hides were bulging muscles with raw strength. The red gleam of their binocular eyes exuded bloodlust and hunger as they laid to target their unfortunate prey.
Maybe it was the opposite for Mark’s case... or not.
Broad ears jutted from their head and razor sharp fangs were visible from their snout. Their feet ’appearances were no different from that of their hands. Despite the hunched frame they stood at seven-feet-tall in height.
Mark’s eyes opened more. These were evolved chimpanzees of the great apes. They were far more dangerous and vicious than their regular kins that could be domesticated as pets. They had the brutal strength of bulldozers that could demolish heavy lead blocks.
The howl of their excited pants echoed across the trees that surrounded the clearing, where he stood. This was their home and they didn’t welcome any guests but brutalized them to pieces.
Mark could sense the strong killing intent that radiated from their presence. His body was frozen for a moment.
Two of the vicious beasts lunged down from the tree to pounce over him with brutal force, their eyes glowed heavily with savageness. But then Mark’s emerald green eyes gleamed as magical sparks swirled like brushing wind in front of him and an amazon giant appeared like an imposing goddess, her height rose up to match the trees as her head popped through their blanket canopies.
The trees around her were five to six meters, which was why she slightly surpassed them in height with the little difference.
What met two of the lunging chimpanzees was her massive bosom that bounced them away like they were bothersome flies as they slammed against the trees from the force of the momentum.
With a smile that appeared in his lips, Mark used this opportunity to seek for safety behind one of her long graceful legs. The size was big enough to be compared with a slim trunk at least.
The clearing suddenly felt occupied by her presence alone which was much of a disadvantage on the battlefield. With her size she was an easy and vulnerable target for any danger even though she possessed immense strength and might.
But she was a seasoned amazon warrior nevertheless with several years of experience and potential that no one knew.
One of her feet rose and swept around in a semi circular motion like a chopping blade that slashed dozens of trees into stumps to level up and make the surrounding much conducive for her stance. The unfortunate chimps that had been hiding for an ambush within those trees were flung several hundred feet away like broken, discarded dolls.
Several miles of the forest shook violently from the chaos caused by her attack as she moved with vicious speed despite her size. She had been careful and meticulous not to harm her master as she proceeded in her brutality towards the enemies.
She caught one with both hands and easily strangled it with immense pressure that instantly squeezed the remaining life out that made its body become limp, before she simply dropped it and caught another one as she hurled it like a baseball.
Mark was awed by the elegance of her movements in battle when she handled her foes with nothing different from dolls. She was enchanting and dangerous at the same time.
It was too hard to pull the eyes away from her work as he looked and he was even proud to have a summon just like her by his side. It made him really feel lucky and he was grateful for her.
After a while the area of the clearing had been expanded outwards with chopped stumps. Dozens gruesome corpses of the chimpanzees that sprawled all over the place, blood sprayed the floor in large amounts that even flowed like a river.
Mark was starting to feel powerless due to the fact that he hadn’t been able to participate in the battle. Cassandra stood with a huffing stance, her legs wide apart as her shoulders hunched with rising and falling chest. This must have taken a good amount of toll from her due to her lower tier and how vicious she had taken the first battle.
It was as though or likely that she had been itching for this very kind of moment for years and she had found the right opportunity to cast her might over her enemies. He could only guess that this was simply one of the characteristics of a member of the Amazon Order.
