Yan Sui closed her eyes and rubbed the bridge of her nose. Communicating with an idiot really was difficult.

“Apologize. Pay me back. Don’t make me say it a third time.”

Fu Qingci had always acted superior around Yan Sui.Full novel: I Quit Showbiz to Slack Off! This D-List Actress’s Vegetable Garden Goes Viral — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

He’d never needed to lower himself to accommodate her. Yan Sui would naturally cater to him.

Now that she’d turned on him, the contrast was impossible to ignore.

More importantly, this concerned his dignity as a man.

Since his debut, he’d clawed his way through the entertainment industry for years to reach his current position. There were very few people left who dared to provoke him like this.

“Yan Sui, do you have any idea what happens when you make me angry?”

Yan Sui gave him a cool smile. “What happens? You’ll bite me? I don’t treat you like a person, so are you really planning to act like a dog?”

She lazily spun her phone in her hand. “Hurry up. The police are on their way. I can already imagine what the gossip accounts will say.”

“Tsk. ‘A certain top male celebrity surnamed Fu taken away by police—is it a distortion of human nature or a collapse of morality?’”

By then, rumors would be flying, his rivals would be piling on with smears, and the online headlines would be a sight to behold.

Yan Mo clutched his arm. “Big Brother.”

Fu Qingci gave a cold snort and roared, “Fine! I’ll apologize. One hundred thousand, then. Take the money and get out of here. Don’t let me see you again!”

Yan Sui paid no attention to his fury and continued coolly, “When you transfer the money, make sure you note that it’s compensation for what you did to me. I don’t want you suing me later to get it back.”

Her contemptuous gaze pierced Fu Qingci like a needle.

“I don’t care about a hundred thousand! And I’m not that low!”

Yan Sui gave a dismissive laugh and looked him up and down.

“Who knows?”

Fu Qingci was so furious and humiliated that he nearly ground his teeth to dust.

“Yan Sui, don’t you dare regret this! We’re leaving!”

Yan Mo said anxiously, “We can’t leave. She called the police.”

She didn’t want the police showing up at her door.

Yan Sui smiled faintly. “Oh, I forgot to mention—I just realized the call didn’t go through.”

Yan Mo froze, her expression turning complicated.

Fu Qingci’s face darkened. He swept out of the room.

Yan Mo gave Yan Sui a long look. She was glad to see Yan Sui break things off with Fu Qingci.

But Yan Sui was acting strangely—as if someone else had taken over her body.

“Yan Sui, think this through. There’s no turning back once you’ve loosed the arrow. Big Brother won’t forgive you.”

Yan Sui propped her chin on her hand and glanced at her lazily.

“Living without his forgiveness is like a fish without a bicycle. I’m giving you this useless piece of trash.”

Yan Mo gritted her teeth. “What about your career? You’re giving that up too?”

Yan Sui raised an eyebrow. Her career?

“Oh, I’m coming clean: I’m a rich heiress! I’ve decided to go home and inherit billions!”

At that, Yan Mo broke into a mocking smile.

So Yan Sui was dreaming up nonsense now.

She still didn’t know that the Yan family would soon throw her out.

“Well then… good luck?”

Once Yan Mo left, the hospital room finally fell quiet.

Yan Sui lay on the bed, staring at the ceiling.

During those years in the apocalypse, she had awakened a wood-element ability and spent her time doing agricultural work.

She closed her eyes and summoned the power within her.

Only when the familiar sensation returned did she realize it had come with her to this world, too.

Yan Sui opened her eyes again. Her cheeks were flushed and radiant, and she looked much better than before.

She could be discharged.

She picked up her phone, ready to get back in touch with her parents, whom she hadn’t contacted in ages.

Yan Sui had never been especially close to her parents, but they weren’t on bad terms either. Their relationship had always been calm and ordinary.

But later, “she” had fallen out with them over Fu Qingci and thrown herself into the entertainment industry.

She hadn’t been home since.

Thinking of the absurd things she’d done under the system’s control, Yan Sui clicked her tongue.

What a mess.

As soon as she opened her phone, she saw someone had tagged her in the group chat.

It was a staff member from the show.

Xiaojun: 【Teacher Yan Sui, the production team has already spoken with your company. You don’t need to film the show anymore.】

Before Yan Sui could reply, another message appeared.

【You have been removed from the group chat】

Yan Sui left the chat and saw a message from her manager.

Yu Guang was mainly responsible for Fu Qingci. Yan Sui had only been assigned to him as an afterthought, and usually he left her affairs to an assistant.

If he was contacting her personally now, Fu Qingci had probably complained to him.

Yu Guang: 【What’s your problem with Qingci? He and Yan Mo aren’t really together. It’s just a way to promote his new drama. You’re obviously going out of your way to make things difficult for him!】

Yu Guang: 【If you still want to renew your contract with the company, get back here immediately and apologize to Qingci. Ask him to forgive you!】

Yan Sui: 【Did you die a violent death in your last life? Why are you so hot-tempered?】

Yan Sui: 【You and Fu Qingci both come from the parcel depot, don’t you?】

Yan Sui: 【Big packages, small packages—you two putting on a show as the Perfect Pair of Bastards?】

Yan Sui: 【Renew your contract? Go renew your dad’s head! Fu Qingci is your ancestor, so bury him in your family grave and burn incense for him every Qingming!】

Yu Guang was so enraged that he immediately sent her a voice message that was a full sixty seconds long.

Yan Sui: 【Too long. Not listening.】

After sending her final message, she blocked Yu Guang.

She blocked Fu Qingci as well.

When she was done, she opened Weibo. Without bothering to look at the 99+ private messages, she began composing a post.

Sui Sui Safe: 【I’m leaving the entertainment industry. Bye-bye!】

After posting it, she uninstalled the app.

Not long after, her mother, Ms. Zou Shuangyun, called.

“Come home. Your father and I have something to tell you.”

Then she hung up. Ms. Zou had always been concise, never wasting words.

Meanwhile, Yu Guang, blocked by Yan Sui, was so frustrated he was about to explode.

It felt as if he’d swallowed a fly; his anger was stuck in his chest, unable to rise or settle.

“Look at her! Yan Sui’s gone crazy!”

Fu Qingci’s expression was cold. “I’ve already seen it for myself.”

Just as Yu Guang had said, Yan Sui had gone crazy.

He gave a cold snort. “Ignore her. It’s not as if she’s never thrown a tantrum before.”

In less than two days, she’d be unable to resist coming back to apologize and beg for forgiveness.

Yu Guang clenched his back teeth, his jaw taut.

“This time, don’t you dare forgive her too easily! Yan Mo was generous enough not to hold it against her, but if she really offends her, you’ll regret it!”

Fu Qingci yanked at his tie and closed his eyes.

A moment later, his assistant knocked and came in.

“Big Brother Yu, look!”

Yu Guang snapped impatiently, “What is there to look at?”

He glanced casually at the phone. His eyes narrowed, and his anger shot straight up.

“Yan Sui’s gone crazy!”

Fu Qingci’s eyes flew open. “What happened?”

Yu Guang said, “See for yourself!”

The assistant handed him the phone. Fu Qingci looked at it, and his expression changed at once.

“Leaving the industry? Did the company approve this?!”

The assistant reminded him, “Her contract with the company expired a while ago. She hasn’t renewed it yet.”

In fact, the idea had come from Yu Guang. He’d dangled the contract in front of Yan Sui, then planned to have Fu Qingci plead with the company on her behalf.

That way, Yan Sui would be touched and become even more devoted to him.

As for the production team, there was no need to mention them. They had been the ones to tell Yan Sui to leave, so there was no question of a breach of contract.

In all her years with the company, Yan Sui had spent them revolving around Fu Qingci. She didn’t actually have many resources of her own.

With her looks, she could have made a fortune simply by livestreaming. Instead, she’d been stuck among the least-known celebrities.

A wave of irritation stirred in Fu Qingci’s chest. “Call her.”

The assistant said, “I tried. She blocked all of us.”

Fu Qingci didn’t believe him. “Bring me my phone!”

He immediately tried to call Yan Sui, only to discover she’d blocked him too.

Fu Qingci’s handsome face twisted with rage. He gripped his phone and hurled it hard to the floor.

“If she wants to leave the industry, let her! I want to see how long she can stick with it!”
