The heart-decorated Yangzhou omelet fried rice made by Nagasaki Asuna disappeared within moments beneath repeated spoonfuls from the boys.

“Nagasaki is an angel…”

Chen Hao’s excessive behavior drew serious condemnation.

“Chen Hao, we agreed one spoon per person!”

“Why the hell are you using a ladle?!”

“If you’re still hungry, eat your own beef fried rice.”

“You used so much salt you could kill someone!”

Meanwhile, Cheng Fei’s Golden-Wrapped-Silver fried rice received unanimous approval from the girls.

“It isn’t greasy, and it tastes really good…”

“Not adding chili was so thoughtful.”

“Cheng Fei is so gentle…”

“Cheng Fei, can you feed me one bite?”

“Just one…”

In reality, Cheng Fei knew it wasn’t that amazing.

The entire method was designed around laziness.

No matter how much technique he used to compensate, the result was merely decent.

Cheng Fei and Nagasaki Asuna sampled various dishes around the room.

Their conclusion was that most were edible.

However, many had poor heat control or terrible seasoning.

Naturally, both silently agreed not to say that aloud.

During the tasting, a petite girl hurried toward Cheng Fei with a bowl.

She stood on her toes.

“Cheng Fei, Cheng Fei!”

“Try my pickled-chili egg fried rice.”

“Come on, aaah~”

It was Zhou Han, their Chinese class representative.

Dimples and small canine teeth appeared whenever she smiled, making her extremely cute.

“I’ll do it myself.”

Cheng Fei accepted the spoon and ate a bite.

Compared with ordinary fried rice, it possessed the sour, spicy flavor of pickled chili.

“Good?” Zhou Han asked eagerly.

“Pretty good.”

Cheng Fei gave her a thumbs-up.

“I knew it!”

“They kept saying it was too spicy.”

“I don’t think it’s spicy at all.”

Zhou Han took back the spoon Cheng Fei had just used and tasted a bite herself.

A satisfied expression appeared.

“See?

Delicious.”

After Zhou Han left, Nagasaki Asuna gave Cheng Fei a teasing smile.

“Doing something like that behind Shen Xi’s back.”

“Cheng Fei is terrible.”

“Zhou Han is just outgoing.”

“Even outgoing girls don’t casually share spoons with boys, right?”

“I can’t stop her.”

“What if she had already used that spoon before giving it to Cheng Fei?”

“That’s a conspiracy theory.”

“Cheng Fei really doesn’t have enough vigilance.”

…

After home economics ended, Cheng Fei didn’t return to the classroom.

He headed directly toward the school gate, planning to hurry to his shift at the milk-tea shop.

Two black luxury sedans stood along the road every student had to pass on their way out.

Several men in black suits and sunglasses waited beside them.

Cheng Fei glanced once and ignored them.

He continued toward the bus stop.

Then came breathless shouting from behind him.

“Cheng Fei!”

“Are you Cheng Fei?”

A girl hurried out of the school gate.

Her twin tails were tied with perfect precision.

She had attractive features, and white over-the-knee socks covered both legs beneath her skirt.

Judging from the uniform, she was also a Sakura High student.

Cheng Fei didn’t recognize her.

She walked directly to him, grabbed his hand, and smiled warmly.

“You’re Cheng Fei, right?”

“Come with me.”

“Someone wants to see you.”

Something felt wrong.

Cheng Fei pulled his hand away.

“Who are you?”

“Who wants to see me?”

“Don’t worry about that.”

“Just come with me.”

The girl reached for him again.

“What the hell?”

“I have things to do.”

Cheng Fei frowned, brushed her away, and turned to leave.

At some point, two men in black had appeared behind him.

They blocked his path.

Cheng Fei’s instincts screamed.

It seemed someone had suddenly targeted him.

He turned back.

The warm smile had vanished from the twin-tailed girl’s face like a discarded mask.

Her expression became cold.

“You don’t know what’s good for you.”

“Get him into the car.”

The two men immediately seized Cheng Fei from either side.

The boy struggled.

He couldn’t move at all.

With his physical strength, escape was impossible.

“Gentlemen, easy.”

The boy was shoved into the vehicle.

Bang.

The door closed.

The twin-tailed girl watched the first car depart.

She narrowed her eyes and looked around once, then hurried into the passenger seat of the second vehicle.

Both cars vanished down the road.

…

Only after Cheng Fei was pulled from the car and the blindfold removed did he understand where he had been taken.

A vast, quiet estate.

Huge trees thick enough to require an adult’s arms to encircle them stood everywhere.

The air was fresh.

At the center of the main path stood a fountain featuring a dynamic sculpture of a charging bull.

At the far end of the estate was an enormous villa resembling a palace.

The twin-tailed girl exited behind Cheng Fei.

She glanced at him coldly and began walking toward the mansion.

“Follow me.”

“Don’t do anything stupid.”

Surrounded by several men in black, Cheng Fei had no choice.

Upon entering the palace, the first thing he saw was an extravagantly luxurious chandelier.

Enormous oil paintings on the walls depicted grand hunting scenes.

A spiral staircase with golden railings rose toward an unknown destination.

“Miss.”

“We brought him.”

The twin-tailed girl walked toward a sofa along one side of the grand hall.

Another girl sat there.

Black hair fell like a waterfall.

Her small face possessed effortless perfection.

Long lashes framed reddish eyes.

Arrogance radiated from her brows.

She wore Sakura High’s uniform.

Her blazer rested loosely over her shoulders.

Black tights covered the elegant lines of her legs.

Leaning against the sofa with a lollipop between her lips, one leg crossed over the other, she looked lazy yet imposing.

“Recognize me?”

A mysterious smile curled across her lips as she studied Cheng Fei.

“No.”

Cheng Fei shook his head.

The girl laughed.

“Weren’t you supposedly my fan?”

Cheng Fei went silent for a second.

Then he understood.

He glanced toward the black-suited guards at the entrance, then back at the girl above him.

Lin Xuanqi.

He scratched his head.

“…I don’t remember offending you.”

Lin Xuanqi chuckled.

“You play innocent well.”

“Is anyone more innocent than me?”

“I happened to save someone inside a game.”

“And she repaid me by having me kidnapped.”

The girl leaned forward.

Resting her chin on one hand with her elbow on her knee, she rhythmically tapped a finger against her cheek.

“Let me guess what they taught you.”

“Act innocent.”

“Approach me through the game first.”

“No one taught me anything.”

“I really did happen to be passing by.”

Cheng Fei sounded sincere.

“Heh.”

“You think I’m stupid?”

“Now you’re making this boring.”

Lin Xuanqi’s smile became terrifying.

She waved.

“Teach him a lesson.”

Two men in black quickly moved toward Cheng Fei and seized him.

“Wait!”

“I’ll talk!”

Cheng Fei raised a hand.

Lin Xuanqi lifted her chin.

The men paused.

“No one actually sent me.”

“I followed you to the Fifth Layer because I wanted to get closer to you.”

“Because…”

“Because?”

Lin Xuanqi raised a brow.

Cheng Fei looked at her Sakura High uniform.

“Because I secretly like you.”

“I saw you on opening day and fell in love at first sight.”

“But I was too scared to speak to you in person, so I could only approach you like that.”

“That’s better.”

“At least it sounds like a proper story.”

Lin Xuanqi yawned.

The two guards loosened their grip.

“I genuinely didn’t lie.”

The boy remained calm.

Lin Xuanqi didn’t even look at him.

She picked up a file beside her and spoke softly.

“Cheng Fei.”

“Raised in a welfare home.”

“Supports himself through scholarships and part-time work.”

“Ranked twenty-seventh on Sakura High’s entrance exam…”

“Teachers describe you as excellent in character and academics, disciplined, hardworking.”

“Your reputation among classmates is very good.”

The girl put down the file and rested her chin on one hand.

“Actually, I ranked second on the latest monthly exam,” Cheng Fei corrected.

“They put effort into choosing you this time.”

Lin Xuanqi suddenly looked curious.

“Tell me.”

“How much are they paying you?”

“If someone were paying me, I wouldn’t need part-time jobs.”

“Still refusing to talk?”

“I actually appreciate you somewhat.”

“If you confess honestly, I guarantee I’ll let you go.”

“How about it?”

Thank you so much for reading until the end.
