Chapter 7 : Leagacy

I Reincarnated as the Oldest Son of a Noble Family

The nobles did not win because they were stronger but because they had no bottom line What made them united was not their interestsbut their similar logic and way of thinking.

Noah looked at the platform behind him. The knight who had been executed was one of those sons. He had enough blood from the Superior Bloodline to become a knight, but he did not have enough to be treated as a noble.

"Do the nobles know the secrets of the Paladins?"

"In fact, there is not enough information about this. But from what I know about those of the Superior Bloodline, it is impossible that they continued to use any of it. They worship talent and despise hard work."

Robert’s answer was direct.

"They may have part of the knowledge, or they may have nothing but rumors. But at least they know that the official history of the knights is a lie, and that is enough to make them dangerous."

Robert resumed walking, and Noah followed him.

"Why did you tell me this secret?"

"Because you want to live as a noble. A noble cannot maintain his position unless he knows how it came to be and what the greatest threat to it truly is."

"Aren’t you afraid that I might learn the ancient path of knighthood?"

"If you are able to find it, then learn it. Besides, you are a noble. Abandoning magic to chase a path buried centuries ago would be foolish, and I do not believe you would choose it."

His answer was practical, but Noah felt that there was another reason.

Robert had brought him to witness the execution, then revealed to him a history that had been erased from the world.

The nobles did not win because they were stronger but because they were a unit and had no bottom line , what make them a unit was not their interests , poweror a common goa but their similar logic and way of thinking. They simply believed in one principle: I come first, and after me comes ruin.

After a path emerged that allowed the lower bloodline to compete with them, the nobles waited and watched it silently to crush their legacy and reshaped the survivors into tools that served them. Exploiting cause and effect to build a promising future was the most suitable course of action.

That was how the nobles dealt with threats.

Noah asked:

"Did you call me here to see how spies are punished?"

"That was only part of it. As for the other reason..."

"So that you can learn where to spend your emotions."

Emotion.

Noah did not understand what that had to do with what had happened.

Robert said:

"Did you see me angry with the knight?"

"No."

"He betrayed the family and spied inside the palace. Despite his long years of service and his betrayal of my trust, I never hated him."

Noah replied with a mocking tone:

"But you killed him?"

"I killed him because his death was necessary, not because I held resentment toward him."

Noah understood what Robert meant. If Robert had acted out of anger, he would have prolonged the knight’s torture or humiliated him in front of everyone. But he spoke to the knight until he got the information he needed, then killed him with one strike when the man was no longer useful. Robert was a pure pragmatist.

"The lives of nobles are long. The blood of the Superior Bloodline grant us magic and a long lifespan. We can live for hundreds of years, and our lifespans grow longer as the glow of our blue blood grows stronger."

Noah remained silent.

"For the lower bloodline their lives ended within a few decades.. Some knights may live slightly more than one hundred years if they are fortunate while the Superior Bloodline possessed with long live spawn, they had surpassed the limits that modern medicine had long struggled to extend."

This increased Noah’s enthusiasm for his future, but he hid his smile.

Robert continued:

"Even so, we know the value of time better than anyone. That is why the nobles learned to use their resources efficiently."

"Don’t you make cooks and servants perform useless tasks?"

"While they waste their lives on those tasks, we spend our precious time however we wish. This is simply how nobles rule."

Robert continued walking as he spoke:

"Over hundreds and thousands of years, noble families searched for the best way to use limited resources. First, they had to determine which of those resources was the most valuable."

"Hmm... Money?"

"Emotion."

Noah had not expected the answer.

In his eyes, nobles had cold hearts and faces that revealed nothing. Therefore, it stirred his curiosity when Robert described emotion as the most valuable resource.

"Why emotion?"

"Because it gives a person his motives. Anger and jealousy drive him to eliminate his opponents, while sadness and regret give him a chance to examine himself. Joy and love create allies."

Robert looked at Noah.

"Each of these actions consumes part of a person’s emotions. If you want to live as a noble, you must remember that."

"Emotion is a consumable resource."

"Correct."

Noah had never thought about it in this way before.

If emotion was a limited resource, then it had to be spent where it produced a result. Robert did not waste his anger on the spy because his hatred would not reveal more information or change the death sentence.

He used his curiosity to discover the truth and his caution to protect the family, then ended the matter when there was no longer any benefit in keeping the man alive.

This was how the nobles lived.

As for their image as cold people who did not care about the lives of others, it was nothing more than the natural result of their way of thinking.

Robert said:

"We will leave the palace soon, and I will take you with me. There, you will understand why nobles do not spend their emotions on everyone who passes before them."

"...I understand."

The nobles were not always rational.

They were afraid of a path that ordinary humans could follow, so they erased it from history. They murdered those who followed it and stole the name of the knights and turned it into an institution that served them. They imposed an unfair system on others to protect their position.

and handled there pursuit with the utmost rationality. That was the contradiction of efficiency, and within the contradiction, the Superior Bloodline regimes.
