Even though many barbecue stalls had popped up today, Gan Lan’s stall was still the fastest to sell out. People knew a good thing when they saw it, and quality was the most important thing!

Turning on her Light Brain, Gan Lan applied for an account on the school forum. She then went to the Star Network store to look at ingredients. She had already decided on tomorrow’s new menu: garlic roasted oysters. She just didn’t know if they sold any.

Browsing through the shellfish section, she searched for oysters but found none! She could only scroll slowly in hopes of finding something similar, and she actually did. It was called a Choubei, about the size of two adult palms, and one cost twenty Credit Points! She bought two hundred to try first. Such a large size was perfect for making garlic and vermicelli roasted oysters—oh, wait, roasted Choubei. She just needed to add vermicelli to the ingredients list.

People in the future had quite large appetites. A normal person polishing off one or two wouldn’t be a problem. She decided to set the price at eighty Credit Points.

After buying all the necessary seasonings and ingredients and receiving the delivery, she first started marinating the mutton.

Then she soaked the vermicelli until soft and prepared the sauce needed for roasting the Choubeis, plating it for later use.

Heating oil in a pan, she sautéed the minced garlic over low heat until fragrant. She scooped the sautéed garlic onto a large plate, poured in spicy millet peppers, oyster sauce, and other seasonings, stirred it well, covered it, and placed it in the spatial temperature-controlled box.

The skewering process was handed over to the small robot. The small robot cost six hundred Credit Points a month—the price of sixty roasted mutton skewers! For a poor person like her right now, it was suffocatingly expensive!

However, considering the small robot had many functions, such as basic washing, cutting, and skewering, it reduced her burden significantly. The six hundred Credit Points weren’t that unacceptable anymore.

There were even more people selling barbecue on Food Street today. The whole street smelled like roasted meat. Gan Lan felt helpless yet somewhat amused by this; the wisdom of the working class was equally applicable in the future. Some had even extrapolated and started roasting other things.

Fortunately, before Gan Lan came to set up her stall, she had already posted a reminder using her forum account.

Come and have some barbecue!: [Setting up the stall in ten minutes. Aside from mutton skewers, there’s a new ingredient today. Only 197 portions available. First come, first served!]

Posting on the forum was very effective. As soon as she arrived at her stall, she saw many regular customers already lining up!

The first person in line came every day. Gan Lan remembered him because this young man was good-looking! Although most people in the future era were attractive, this young man stood out even among the beauties!

Seeing these regulars was like seeing walking Credit Points to Gan Lan. She greeted them with a smile.

She quickly started the fire, placed the large Choubeis on the grill, and topped them with vermicelli and spicy garlic sauce.

The garlic and vermicelli roasted large Choubeis SIZZLED, emitting a unique aroma. Even the roasted mutton skewers next to them couldn’t mask their distinct fragrance!

"Junior, give me two of these Choubeis, and twenty roasted mutton skewers!" Wu Mingyu said, unable to help swallowing his saliva as he stared at the Choubeis.

It was simply too fragrant. The comments in his livestream were unanimously drooling. Wu Mingyu felt a bit smug; he was the first to eat it! Coming early to wait was clearly a very wise decision!

Finding his usual spot, Wu Mingyu couldn’t wait to drink a mouthful of the large Choubei’s broth, slurp up some vermicelli, and then take a bite of the Choubei meat. The broth was incredibly fresh, and the vermicelli, having soaked up all that goodness, was even more delicious than the broth itself. The Choubei meat was plump, tender, and succulent.

My god, it was another heavenly flavor that left him intoxicated!

My Life Is So Hard: [I’m not on campus today, so I can’t eat the real thing! My life is so hard. I don’t even know if our junior will sell this tomorrow! SOB SOB]

Ming Doesn’t Cry Anymore: [Ming, are you planning to change your livestream to this treasure junior’s recipe shop? These past two days, it’s like you’ve grown roots at this barbecue stall. You’ve changed...]

Sky Blue: [Delicious, so delicious! A heavenly taste, another heavenly flavor! Is this junior a treasure?! I’m going to skip class, climb the wall, and line up to buy some!!]

"Yes, I plan to take root at her stall. With such delicious food here, why would I go eat that awful stuff and torture myself? Isn’t it better to enjoy different delicacies together every day?"

Just as Wu Mingyu finished speaking, he saw the comment from Sky Blue and couldn’t resist stabbing him in the heart.

"Even if you climb the wall right now, she’ll probably be packing up by the time you get here. Tsk, tsk, how pitiful!"

However, Gao Haiyang couldn’t hear this anymore. He had logged off immediately, not even having time to change out of his school uniform before hurriedly skipping his mentor’s class.

When Gao Haiyang—with his tall and slender frame that looked a bit delicate, dressed in his uniform with his handsome face—appeared on Food Street, he immediately attracted a flurry of stares.

Gao Haiyang was unfazed. After all, he had experienced this too many times. He was long immune to it and headed straight for Gan Lan’s barbecue stall.

An outlier suddenly blended into the long queue. Although this happened often, people still couldn’t help but cast glances his way.

Smelling the aroma of roasted meat permeating the air, Gao Haiyang took a deep breath, completely intoxicated by it.

Unexpectedly, a crisp voice rang out. "Everything is sold out. I’m sorry, fellow alumni. Please come early tomorrow! See you tomorrow!"

Gao Haiyang was utterly stunned. He almost burst into tears!

A dejected Gao Haiyang trudged back to school. He thought, "If I skip class for the whole day tomorrow, I’ll definitely be first in line! I’m going to buy a huge box of them! I’m so mad! WHIMPER~"

Yan Yifei had just finished his physical combat class. His face was slightly flushed, and drops of sweat slid down his chin into his tank top, inviting one’s imagination.

He watched Gao Haiyang walk straight past him, not even noticing a person as large as him standing right there.

He wondered if Gao Haiyang had been kept behind by their mentor for a scolding again. But this guy was very carefree; even when scolded, it went in one ear and out the other. When had he ever been so dejected?

Before Gao Haiyang could get too far, Yan Yifei cleared his throat to signal his presence.

Hearing this sound, Gao Haiyang seemed to have found his pillar of support. He immediately turned around, rushed to Yan Yifei’s side, grabbed his arm, and choked out, "SOB SOB~ Captain!"

Then he went on and on about how he skipped class today, how he pushed his speed to the limit to scale the wall and reach the adjacent Food Street in just five minutes, and how he lined up only for the food to sell out, blah blah blah...

"Captain," Gao Haiyang whined, "last time you said to have the chef study our junior’s barbecue. The taste wasn’t bad, definitely better than before, but it still can’t compare to her own cooking. She released a new item today! WAAAH! And I didn’t get to eat it! Captain, can you help me ask for a leave of absence from tomorrow’s training class? I want to wait there first thing in the morning! I have to eat it! WAAAH WAAAH!"

Yan Yifei shook off Gao Haiyang’s hand, found a chair to sit down, and said coldly, "You want to ask for a leave just to eat?! Do you need me to call your esteemed mother? To tell her that you’ve lost your mind lately?"

Hearing the mention of his esteemed mother, Gao Haiyang trembled all over. He ran back to Yan Yifei, looked at him pleadingly, and said, "Captain, I was wrong. Just pretend I didn’t say anything. I’ll get going now. Bye, Captain!" With that, he immediately ran off.

Yan Yifei watched Gao Haiyang’s fleeing figure. He admitted to himself that the roasted mutton skewers were indeed quite good... Well, they were delicious, and very hard to replicate.

The chef had wasted a lot of ingredients just to recreate a similar taste, but it still lacked a certain something. In that case, he would go take a look himself tomorrow.
