Chapter 2: Delicious Sweet Fruit

I Transmigrated as a Peasant, but My System Wanna Make Me a Duke!

Vili’s eyes widened in shock at the sight before him.

Then, a torrent of unfamiliar knowledge rushed into his mind, filling it with things that hadn’t been there before.

In an instant, Vili absorbed all sorts of miscellaneous knowledge, from the attributes of basic plants to techniques for identifying high-quality ones. He transformed from a complete novice into a knowledgeable Basic-level Gatherer.

"This is..."

This Title Attribute Panel was very familiar to him. It came from *Path of the Emperor*, Vili’s favorite game before he transmigrated.

In that game, new players started from the bottom, constantly unlocking achievements and gaining titles. They would use the rewarded attribute points to improve themselves, then build their own faction, rising from a Little Lord all the way to the most powerful Emperor and conquering the entire map.

’Just as I thought, every transmigrator gets some kind of incredible gift.’

A sense of calm suddenly settled over Vili. It seemed he now had the confidence to survive and grow strong in this strange new world.

’But is the Title Attribute Panel trying to groom me into an Emperor? I’m really not interested in conquering the world...’

When Vili played the game in his past life, he treated it more as a fun, personal development game. He never participated in wars between the various factions, wanting only to build a harmonious territory and be a contented Lord.

Just as Vili’s train of thought was wandering, Vilia shouted from down below.

"Vili, what are you spacing out for? Hurry and pick a Sweet Fruit for me! I’m so thirsty I can barely speak!"

Vilia urged him on, gesticulating wildly.

"Got it!"

Interrupted by Vilia, Vili stopped his investigation. With a thought, the Title Attribute Panel before him vanished.

Only Vili could see the Title Attribute Panel, and he could control it at will.

After dismissing the panel, Vili glanced at the Sweet Fruit he had just picked.

The fruit was a bit smaller than an apple from his past life. It was a milky-white sphere dotted with a few faint yellow spots and small pits.

Vili brought the fruit to his nose and took a light sniff.

’The quality is just average...’

Vili shook his head gently, seemingly unsatisfied with the quality of the Sweet Fruit.

The new knowledge in his mind included detailed descriptions of everything about Sweet Fruits.

He called out to Vilia and tossed the fruit down to her.

"This fruit’s quality is very average. It’ll probably leave a sour, astringent taste in your mouth."

Vili shouted down to Vilia.

Vilia deftly caught the Sweet Fruit Vili threw down. Just as she was about to take a bite, she heard his words.

She tilted her head, glanced down at the fruit, and inhaled its sweet fragrance.

Judging by its appearance and scent alone, this Sweet Fruit had to be of first-rate quality.

"He hasn’t picked Sweet Fruits as often as I have, how could he possibly be more experienced..."

Vilia mumbled to herself. She refused to believe that Vili, who spent his days toiling in the fields, could be better at identifying Sweet Fruits than she was.

CRUNCH!

After wiping the Sweet Fruit on her clothes, Vilia took a direct bite.

Sweet juice burst from the fruit and filled her mouth. A cool, refreshing sensation spread through her whole body, as if instantly washing away the summer heat.

’That guy Vili was just pretending to know what he’s talking about after all.’

Vilia thought to herself. But just as she was about to refute him, she froze.

Right as she finished chewing the piece of Sweet Fruit and was about to swallow, a sour, astringent sensation flooded her mouth. The original sweet fragrance was completely replaced by it. Her teeth felt gritty and rough, and her tongue went slightly numb.

What Vili said was actually true!

Vilia forced herself to swallow the mashed pulp in her mouth, then tossed the rest of the Sweet Fruit into the nearby grass.

"How did you know!"

Vilia’s eyes widened as she questioned Vili in the tree.

Of course, Vili couldn’t tell her the truth.

"Lots of observation, deduction, and practice."

As he spoke, Vili tossed down another Sweet Fruit. "This one has a better texture. It’s juicier, and it doesn’t have that sour, astringent taste. It’s just a little less sweet."

Vilia caught the fruit, inspected it carefully, and then slowly took a bite.

’It’s exactly like Vili said...’

Rich with juice, a delicate sweetness, crisp flesh—it was all just as Vili had described.

Vilia had suspected Vili just got lucky the first time, but for his description to be perfectly accurate twice in a row proved that he had truly mastered the method for selecting Sweet Fruits.

At this thought, Vilia’s eyes suddenly lit up.

If Vili really had such a skill, it would be absolutely wonderful news for their entire family.

Although the nobles didn’t care for Sweet Fruits, they were very popular among the common people. Every time Vilia finished gathering them, their father, Lake, would always make a special trip to town to sell them. Nearly every time he went, he sold out completely.

However, because the quality of the Sweet Fruits they picked was so inconsistent, they could never command a good price. The good were mixed in with the bad and had to be sold cheap, so the income was never very satisfying. If it wasn’t to supplement the family’s income and allow the children to eat white bread a few more times, Lake wouldn’t have bothered with such a tiring trip to the city.

But now, Vili actually possessed the ability to identify high-quality Sweet Fruits. This meant that they could raise their prices when selling them in the future. If the quality was truly good enough, they might be able to double or even triple their profits.

"Vili, you’re amazing!"

It was a rare moment of praise from the young Vilia for her older brother.

Vili was taken aback for a moment, then smiled. The original owner of this body had never enjoyed the privilege of being admired by his younger sister.

But he understood perfectly well why Vilia was so happy. Picking high-quality Sweet Fruits meant an improvement in their family’s circumstances.

Even with his Title Attribute Panel, it would take a considerable amount of time to truly establish himself in this world. In the early stages, this family would be his most powerful support and strongest backing.

"Catch!"

Vili moved nimbly through the tree, picking one excellent-quality Sweet Fruit after another and tossing them down to Vilia below.

Vilia caught each one and tossed it into the basket they had brought.

A brilliant smile spread across Vilia’s face. It was the first time she had ever felt that hard work could be this joyful.
