Song Chuxia pricked up her ears and listened carefully to the sounds outside. When she heard the footsteps gradually fading into the distance, she quickly jumped out of bed and rushed to the door. Seeing that no one was outside, she finally breathed a sigh of relief and began stuffing all her belongings into her space.
As she put things away, Song Chuxia reassured herself. It’s not that I’m being a coward. It’s just that the male and female leads have such powerful protagonist halos. I don’t have much strength right now, so I need to lie low for the time being.
Song Chuxia recalled the scenes described in the novel. Wherever the male and female leads went, danger followed. Yet every time, they managed to turn misfortune into good fortune and even gained unexpected benefits along the way. However, someone like the original owner, who was merely a female supporting character, was destined to suffer losses and have nothing but bad luck. Therefore, she needed to avoid confronting the male and female leads for now.
Most importantly, they were always showing off their affection in front of the original owner. Ugh! It was seriously unbearable.
Just thinking about it made her feel sick. If it were her, she would probably be disgusted to death by them.
Song Chuxia also collected some of her roommates’ daily necessities, including laundry detergent, soap, face masks, unopened toiletries, toilet paper, sanitary pads, snacks, pens, paper, desk lamps, utility knives, and fruit knives. Although these would not be very effective against zombies, having them was better than having nothing.
She also collected storage bags and storage boxes.
Song Chuxia changed into a pair of jeans and a white T-shirt, put on a mask and a hat, and quietly slipped out of the dormitory.
Only then did she discover several bodies lying haphazardly in the corridor. There were bloodstains and severed limbs scattered everywhere.
As she walked down the corridor, a strong smell of blood assaulted her senses.
There were signs of fighting everywhere. The horrifying scene was enough to make anyone’s blood run cold.
Faintly, she could still hear waves of growling coming from the distant stairwell, accompanied by the sound of something crunching and chewing. The noises sent chills down her spine.
She cautiously listened to the sounds around her and couldn’t help regretting that she hadn’t left with the male and female leads.
Song Chuxia quietly entered the dormitory next door. The people living there were her classmates. The room was somewhat messy, and there were bloodstains everywhere.
After carefully checking her surroundings and confirming that no one was inside, she collected their bottled water, instant noodles, biscuits, some relatively new shoes and clothes, and even their bedding.
Now that the apocalypse had arrived, Song Chuxia no longer cared about such things. She figured that if she encountered the owners again in the future, she could always find replacements and return what she had taken. But for now, she needed to collect everything. Having enough supplies would give her peace of mind and improve her chances of survival.
What she needed to do now was gather as many supplies as possible and prepare for the days ahead.
She then visited several other dormitories and did the same thing, clearing out everything she could find. Duck neck snacks, jelly, a whole box of apples, a box of cherries, and all sorts of other things were stored in her space.
Looking at the growing pile of supplies inside her space, Song Chuxia felt a slight sense of security.
Suddenly, Song Chuxia remembered that she didn’t know whether time inside her space was frozen or continued to flow.
She recalled that the novel seemed to mention that, apart from the farmland, where time passed much faster, time remained frozen in all other areas of the space. However, her space was clearly different from the Female Lead’s. Besides, she didn’t have time to test it right now.
Her top priority was to finish collecting supplies from the dormitories before heading to the supermarkets for a shopping spree without paying a single cent.
Song Chuxia looked at the increasingly messy pile of belongings inside her space and thought that it would be much better if she had some shelving units.
Then she suddenly remembered that the dormitory beds could also be used to store things. However, since they had desks underneath and beds on top, they might not be very convenient…
Still, it was worth a try. For the first time, she felt that having a bunk bed was actually a good thing.
Song Chuxia went from one dormitory to another, collecting supplies. Whenever she came across a relatively new bed, she sent it straight into her space.
As she continued collecting things, she suddenly discovered that some dormitories even had storage racks, shoe cabinets, and wardrobes.
There was no need to say anything else. She collected every single one of them.
Collect, collect, collect!
Unopened milk, potato chips, oatmeal, spicy strips, jelly, and even unopened delivery packages were all swept into her space without her bothering to check what was inside.
“Ding!”
Song Chuxia suddenly had an idea. There was another place she could visit later: the parcel collection station! That place would have plenty of supplies too.
Song Chuxia knew that if she didn’t collect the supplies from the dormitories and the parcel station, they would only go to waste.
With light footsteps, Song Chuxia finished searching all the dormitories on that floor. She wanted to take the stairs to another floor, but both staircases on either side of the dormitory building were packed with zombies.
She could even hear panicked footsteps and terrified screams coming from other floors.
Since this floor was relatively safe for the time being, Song Chuxia decided to hide in one of the dormitories and lock the door. She then thought about entering her space.
Great!
She couldn’t get in.
Not at all.
She clearly remembered that Su Qianqian, the Female Lead, could enter her space!
There had even been an incident where the Female Lead had gotten into an argument with the male lead and hidden inside her space. The male lead had searched everywhere for her before she finally came out. Because of that incident, their relationship had grown even closer.
Wait a minute. Wasn’t the Female Lead’s space capable of allowing people to enter? Although she could only bring herself inside.
She could also grow crops there, even though the Female Lead had never bothered to plant anything.
Most importantly, the Female Lead’s space was enormous. It was about the size of five football fields!
Fine! Fine! So this was how unfair the treatment between the female lead and female supporting character was?
Song Chuxia was practically furious just thinking about it.
Then she remembered the spiritual spring water.
When she had read the novel, this was what she had envied the most. It could enhance one’s beauty, preserve youth, and strengthen the body.
The Female Lead was already beautiful to begin with, but after drinking the spiritual spring water, her skin became even more delicate and flawless, as smooth as jade and seemingly so soft that it could break with the slightest touch. Calling her the most beautiful woman in the world would not have been an exaggeration.
With anticipation written all over her face, Song Chuxia controlled a cup and used it to draw water from the well.
She took a sip.
It was sweet. Not bad!
She then gulped down the entire cup.
She thought she would probably faint soon and that dirt and impurities would emerge from her body.
She waited and waited.
Great!
There was absolutely no reaction.
She angrily drank three more cups, but still felt nothing.
Wonderful!
It was just ordinary well water. Apart from quenching her thirst, it had no other effects.
Song Chuxia was utterly speechless.
Was this really the difference between a female lead and a female supporting character? The gap was simply too outrageous!
Earlier, Song Chuxia had cut up several apples and placed some inside her space and others outside.
Fortunately, time inside her space was indeed frozen. The apples stored inside showed no signs of spoiling.
Only then did the frustration in her heart ease slightly.
After drinking so much water that she could barely move, Song Chuxia carefully made her way to the corner of the stairwell and cautiously peeked around to observe the entrance.
Hmm, not bad. There were no zombies on the stairs anymore.
Song Chuxia quickly went up to the fifth floor.
She had originally lived on the fourth floor, so she decided to search the fifth and sixth floors first before going downstairs.
The fifth floor was also covered in bloodstains. Books, clothes, and other belongings were scattered all over the ground.
Song Chuxia began searching the rooms one by one.
When she reached a dormitory, she discovered that its door was locked. She guessed that someone might be inside, so she didn’t bother investigating and simply moved on to another room.
“Classmate, are you leaving? Can we go together?”
A woman’s voice suddenly rang out in the corridor.
Song Chuxia, who had been heading toward the stairwell, turned around and saw several girls standing at the entrance of a dormitory, looking at her.
Song Chuxia ignored them and continued straight up to the sixth floor.
She paid no attention to the curses coming from behind her.
Just as before, Song Chuxia searched every unoccupied dormitory in the entire building whose doors had been left open, collecting everything she could.
At times, she almost wished she could take the beds themselves. She even felt tempted to rip up the floorboards and take those too.
