“Hehe… You really asked such a stupid question.”

After hearing Lin Yuan’s question, Long Haochen chuckled. He had clearly overestimated this guy in front of him.

“I did walk north after leaving Haiyue Restaurant, but I didn’t go far. I’ve been waiting nearby for you to come out. Though you cleverly drove south, unfortunately, the speed of a car in my eyes is no different from a snail’s.”Full novel: I Was Reborn as the Villain, but the System Bound Itself to the Female Leads — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

“All it took was a little effort to catch up. Do you understand now?”

Long Haochen smiled arrogantly, clearly enjoying the feeling of being superior. In his eyes, ordinary people were nothing more than ants—he could crush them with just a flick of his fingers.

Lin Yuan also smiled, but his was a bitter one.

These ancient martial artists were truly absurd. Just relying on their physical bodies, they could match the speed of a vehicle. One foot alone could stop a car at full speed.

When reading the original plot, he didn’t think much of such abilities. But now that he was experiencing it firsthand, he had only one word to describe it—insane.

Later in the plot, when people could split mountains with a sword or tear the sky apart with a blade, what would that even look like?

Sadly, he probably wouldn’t survive to see that far.

As Long Haochen continued approaching, sweat the size of beans rolled down Lin Yuan’s forehead.

Was this really where it all ended?

“Young Master, run!”

At that moment, Lin Yuan’s driver suddenly leapt out of the car without warning and tackled Long Haochen, holding onto him tightly to buy Lin Yuan some time to escape.

“Courting death!”

Long Haochen grew furious. He exerted a little strength, and a surge of immense force exploded through his limbs. He grabbed the driver and flung him straight at Lin Yuan.

Thud! The driver’s body crashed heavily into Lin Yuan, and the two of them were thrown back two or three meters before hitting the ground.

Lin Yuan didn’t have time to think about the pain in his body. He shakily stood up.

“Damn, this body is too damn weak,” he muttered in frustration.

The driver also got up. Since Lin Yuan had cushioned his fall, he wasn’t badly hurt.

“Young Master, I’m sorry! Are you alright?”

“Still alive.”

Lin Yuan wiped the corner of his mouth and fixed his gaze on Long Haochen again.

“Young Master, I’ll hold him off. You run and get more help!” Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

“Useless,” Lin Yuan replied directly.

“This guy isn’t human. No matter how many people you bring, they won’t be able to hurt him. And you alone can’t stop him either. I’m the target. You should go. Don’t throw your life away for nothing.”

“Young Master!”

The driver never expected to hear such words from his own Young Master.

The Young Master was actually worried about him. The Young Master cared. To protect him, he was willing to stay behind and let him escape.

The driver was so moved, he was about to cry.

“Hehe, such deep loyalty between master and servant.”

“Lin Yuan, I heard you’re a notorious scoundrel in North City, guilty of every imaginable crime. And now someone like you is worried about a driver’s safety? I’m starting to see you in a new light.”

Long Haochen clenched his fist, preparing to deal the final blow.

“Since you at least have a bit of backbone, I’ll give you a swift death.”

As he finished speaking, Long Haochen exploded into motion. His body became a blur like lightning, and in the next second, his fist was already aimed at Lin Yuan’s face.

“This is it. My second life… ends here.”

Lin Yuan knew there was no way to dodge. He closed his eyes, accepting his fate.

But deep down, he still couldn’t help cursing.

“Damn it, you old bastard in the sky! If you’ve got guts, give me a system! I swear I’ll grind this BYD Child of Destiny into the dirt!”

“Stop!”

A furious shout echoed across the overpass in the night.

Lin Yuan opened his eyes. Long Haochen’s fist was only 0.01 centimeters from his face.

Both of them turned to look toward the voice. Two security officers in police uniforms were rushing over, flashlights in hand, their beams so bright the two couldn’t even open their eyes.

Long Haochen snorted coldly. He grabbed Lin Yuan’s collar and yanked him up in front of himself.

“Consider yourself lucky tonight. But I don’t believe you’ll be lucky every time. Go on, crawl like a sewer rat, hide all you want, and see how long you can survive.”

Killing someone in front of North City’s security officers was unwise—especially someone like Lin Yuan, the eldest son of one of the Four Great Families. If he really killed him now, the Lin Family would retaliate with everything they had, turning it into a major case that would shake all of North City. That wasn’t something beneficial for Long Haochen’s plans. Read the latest chapters at novelping(.)com.

“You’re welcome to tell the security officers that I tried to kill you. But if you do, you won’t be the only one who dies. Your parents, yes, and even your daughter—none of them will live. If you don’t believe me, go ahead and try.”

With that, Long Haochen threw Lin Yuan to the ground and vanished into the night.

“Long Haochen!”

Lin Yuan clenched his fists. Every man has his dignity and his bottom line. If someone humiliates you, you might endure it. But if they threaten your family and you still swallow your pride, then you’re no man at all.

“Child of Destiny, screw you! You didn’t kill me today, but one day, I’ll make sure you regret it!”

Lin Yuan swore to himself.

“Hey! Are you two alright?”

“You’re… Lin Yuan?”

The two security officers rushed over, stunned when they recognized Lin Yuan.

He was too famous. Every two or three days, he’d be brought into their station. It was practically his second home. He even had his own personal holding cell.

“What happened just now?”

One of the officers asked, confused.

From what he saw, Lin Yuan seemed to have been attacked. In North City, someone actually dared to lay a hand on Lin Yuan? Were they tired of living?

“It’s nothing. Just ran into a mugger.”

Lin Yuan patted the dust off his clothes and said casually.

The two officers looked at each other, both thinking the same thing—was this really Lin Yuan?

If it were before, he’d be cursing them out by now, calling them useless trash for not catching the culprit…

“Young Master Lin, do you want us to handle this case?”

“No need. Nothing was stolen. He just shoved me and I fell. It was too dark—I didn’t see his face clearly. Let it go.”

“You two keep patrolling. Be sure to stay alert.”

Lin Yuan called his driver and left the scene.

The two officers looked at each other again.

Did… did Lin Yuan just give them instructions?

Is it still nighttime? Are we dreaming right now?
