“Search?” Xu Feng hadn’t expected that giving something to Widow Wang would bring double rewards, nor did he expect it would unlock a new function.

Could this search feature help him find prey faster in the mountains?

If so, wouldn’t that make him a professional mountain ranger?Full novel: I Was Reborn into the Past and Saved My Stunning Sister-in-Law at the Beginning — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

With a thought, a transparent map appeared before him, displaying a bird’s-eye view of Xu Village.

Next to it was a search button. Xu Feng tapped it lightly in the air, and the map rippled like water.

After ten seconds, it stilled, and a golden dot appeared out of nowhere on the transparent map.

The marked location was exactly at Widow Wang’s house next door!

Finally understanding, Xu Feng realized this was the Perfect Life System’s newly awakened search treasure function. And this golden dot being at Widow Wang’s house meant there was a high chance that she had a treasure in her home!

Maybe even Widow Wang herself didn’t know about it; otherwise, why would her life be so hard?

Thinking of this, Xu Feng recalled an old incident.

In the past, because he fancied Wang Xiuli, he often hung out with her husband. Once, after drinking too much together, her husband let something slip.

Xu Feng had asked him why, despite not having a proper income, he was still so generous.

The man had drunkenly replied, “Brother, let me tell you the truth. Even if I don’t dig in the fields, I can still live a life of luxury.”

At the time, Xu Feng thought he was bragging, but looking at things now, it seemed that there really was something valuable hidden in his house.

The mother and son next door lived such a tough life, probably because the man didn’t have time to tell Widow Wang before he got shot. Or maybe he never intended to tell her at all, fearing she might use the treasure to hook up with another man and live the good life without him.

“A’Feng, what are you thinking about? It’s time to eat.”

Xu Feng’s thoughts about whether to keep the treasure for himself were interrupted by his wife’s voice.

The sisters weren’t very hungry, but Xu Feng hadn’t eaten breakfast. He had originally planned to mooch a bowl of pork stew at the Village Chief’s house, but seeing that even the men and children in the village couldn’t get enough to eat, and knowing that he would soon get around sixty kilograms of meat, Xu Feng didn’t serve himself.

Lunch was quite sumptuous, with pork rib soup paired with white steamed buns.

Seeing the white buns his sister-in-law steamed, Xu Feng couldn’t help but think of Widow Wang.

Better let him take over, and then give something back to Widow Wang—wouldn’t that be a win-win?

Thinking it through, Xu Feng happily ate two large buns and a big bowl of pork rib soup in one go.

He had to admit, his sister-in-law’s cooking was really excellent.

With improved nutrition these days, she looked much healthier, her face no longer pale but glowing and rosy.

“A’Feng, you’ve been staring at sister so much she’s getting embarrassed.”

Hearing his wife’s teasing, Xu Feng snapped out of his daze.

He had been lost in thought while staring at his sister-in-law, forgetting the time.

Lin Xixue’s face clearly showed her discomfort. She almost bit her finger while eating the bun. Xu Feng grinned, “Nonsense, I was just thinking about something. But Xixue, you really are more beautiful than before.”

Xu Feng, being straightforward, said whatever was on his mind, but Lin Xixue wasn’t as thick-skinned.

Her face flushed, and she hurriedly took her bowl to the kitchen without finishing her meal.

Xu Feng pinched his wife’s thigh, “Even dared to tease your own man, huh? I’ll deal with you properly after dinner!”

Lin Xiyue replied, “A’Feng, why don’t you go deal with sister instead? You’ve been holding back because of me. You must be suffering.”

She could tell that last time her husband held back because he was worried about the baby in her belly, not enjoying himself fully.

Anyway, since they were going to live together with her sister, sooner or later, it wouldn’t make a difference.

Xu Feng rubbed his wife’s head affectionately, “Feelings haven’t reached that point yet. Don’t worry about your man, silly girl.”

In the kitchen, Lin Xixue wished she could find a hole to hide in after hearing their conversation. “You little brat, you’re really good to your sister!”

She wasn’t blaming her sister. On the contrary, Xu Feng’s words made her feel moved.

After lunch, the two sisters didn’t take a nap but began cutting fabric to make clothes. Xu Feng had overestimated their skills.

Though they had learned sewing, they weren’t proficient, and such good material couldn’t be wasted by careless cutting. In the end, they had to ask Widow Wang for help. Since cutting clothes took a lot of time, they also brought the little one along.

When they entered, Widow Wang didn’t even glance at Xu Feng, as if the incident from the morning where he peeked at her had never happened. “Sister Xiuli, can you check how many clothes we can make from all this fabric?”

Widow Wang took the material from Lin Xiyue’s hands, measured it, and looked at the sisters and Xu Feng’s height. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

“It’s really good material. Xu Feng, you’re really generous. For summer clothes, less fabric is needed. I think you can make three adult outfits and one for the child.”

Country girls all had these skills, and Widow Wang was confident in her sewing abilities, so she wouldn’t say anything she wasn’t sure of.

“Really, sister? Then that’s perfect. We can make one for the little one too.”

Since cutting clothes was time-consuming and laborious, they couldn’t let her work for nothing. “No way, Xiyue. I already took a big advantage of you this morning. How can I have the nerve to accept another piece of clothing?”

Widow Wang hadn’t expected Xiyue to be so generous. The piece of meat they gave her this morning was enough for her and her daughter to eat for several meals.

What was cutting some clothes compared to that?

“If you don’t take it, I won’t ask you to help. I might not even finish cutting it properly this afternoon. It’s too much trouble for you.”

Since she put it that way, Widow Wang didn’t refuse any longer.

“Come on, say thank you to sister.”

Widow Wang also told the little one to be sweet-mouthed and call her sister.

“Thank you, sister. You’re so pretty!” The little one might have been a bit thin, but his clothes and little face were clean and tidy, showing that Widow Wang was someone who liked to keep things neat.

“Then I’ll go back and get the basket. The scissors and measuring tape are all in it.”

Xu Feng saw this as a great opportunity, “I can’t help much anyway. Sister, I’ll go get it for you, so you don’t have to run back and forth.”

Hearing Xu Feng volunteer, a trace of unnaturalness flashed across Widow Wang’s face, though it was barely noticeable, “Alright then, it’s hanging in the main room. You’ll see it as soon as you enter.”

Knowing the exact location, Xu Feng walked out of the courtyard excitedly. He immediately opened the map, but unfortunately, the search function could only pinpoint Widow Wang’s house.

The rest would have to be found by himself.

Entering through the gate, Xu Feng immediately noticed the clothes drying in the yard.

Could it be that just because he looked at her a few times this morning, she was trying to lure him into trouble?

No wonder Widow Wang looked a bit unnatural when she heard Xu Feng offer to fetch the basket.

So that was the reason. But why hadn’t this woman refused?

Perhaps only Widow Wang herself knew the answer.
