Seeing Su Qingxue’s current “vivid and fragrant” state in front of him, Xia Feng’s heart pounded nervously.

He didn’t dare look at her for even another second.

If he kept staring, who knew what kind of reaction he might have next.Full novel: I Was Set Up at the Very Start and Ended Up With a CEO Wife! — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

Don’t look at what you shouldn’t. Don’t look at what you shouldn’t.

Muttering this in his heart, Xia Feng hurried back to his seat as if fleeing the scene.

He pretended nothing had happened, turned on his computer, opened a work document, yet couldn’t stop himself from sneaking glances toward the desk opposite him.

His heart was in turmoil as well.

Wasn’t the effect of this [God-Level Massage] a little too strong?

He had only wanted to calm her down, not make her collapse like that!

After a while, Su Qingxue finally recovered from lying on the desk.

The sensation that had left her whole body weak and her scalp tingling gradually faded, replaced by an unprecedented sense of comfort and relaxation, as if all the fatigue from recent days had been swept away.

But what followed immediately was overwhelming shame and anger.

She had actually… reacted like that just from a few touches. She had even made such embarrassing sounds and shown that expression.

Su Qingxue slowly sat upright, tidied her slightly messy clothes and hair, then raised her head and shot Xia Feng a glare filled with both embarrassment and irritation.

The meaning in her eyes was clear: You bastard. Just you wait. This isn’t over.

Xia Feng caught that “glare attack” immediately.

What could he do?

He could only pretend to be blind.

He lowered his head even more and hammered away at the keyboard, looking busy, innocent, and completely clueless.

The office fell into an eerie silence.

The air still seemed to carry a trace of awkwardness and something unspoken.

This silence lasted quite a while.

Finally, Su Qingxue couldn’t hold it in any longer.

She cleared her throat, trying to make her voice sound normal, but the slight tremor at the end betrayed her inner unrest.

“Xia Feng.”

“Hmm?”

He looked up at her with a confused expression.

“What exactly did you go do this morning?”

Su Qingxue was genuinely curious.

She had known Xia Feng since university. Nearly ten years of friendship made them two of the people who understood each other best.

She knew how responsible and reliable he was.

Since they founded this company together, he had never been late, left early, or taken leave.

Today was the first time ever.

It made her uneasy.

Hearing her question, Xia Feng didn’t think much of it. Their relationship was close. There was nothing to hide.

He scratched his head casually and said, “Oh, that. I got married yesterday.”

He said it as lightly as if he were saying, “I had hot pot yesterday.”

“So this morning… well, there were some things to take care of. That’s why I took leave.”

He didn’t dare tell the full truth.

He couldn’t exactly say that he had been so carried away by newlywed bliss that he and his wife stayed in the hotel until noon.

If he said that, Su Qingxue would probably grab a keyboard and smack him with it.

“Oh, so you got married…”

At first, Su Qingxue nodded absentmindedly.

But in the next second, her brain finally processed what he had just said.

Married?!

“What?!”

A sharp scream burst out of her mouth uncontrollably!

The volume startled even Xia Feng.

He looked at her in confusion.

“What’s wrong? Why such a big reaction? It’s just marriage.”

“You…”

Su Qingxue felt as if an invisible hand had gripped her heart tightly, making it hard to breathe.

She stared at Xia Feng’s puzzled face, her mind in complete chaos.

“How… how did you suddenly get married?!”

Her voice was no longer steady.

She abruptly stood up, leaning forward with both hands on the desk, staring at him.

“Why didn’t I hear a single word about this from you?!”

“And… didn’t you always say you didn’t have a girlfriend? How did it jump straight to marriage?!”

Her questions came one after another.

Her eyes were filled with shock, confusion, accusation, panic, and helplessness.

Xia Feng was baffled by her intense reaction.

What could he say?

Was he supposed to explain that he had originally signed a fake marriage agreement, only to be tricked by his cunning childhood friend and end up turning it into a real marriage?

It sounded too ridiculous to believe.

So he forced himself to come up with a half-true explanation.

“Well… it’s like this.”

He carefully organized his words.

“You know my childhood friend, Liu Ruyan.”

“I always treated her like a buddy. But yesterday, she suddenly confessed to me.”

“So… I thought about it carefully, and it didn’t seem bad? Then… I agreed.”

“And after that… she dragged me straight to the Civil Affairs Bureau to register.”

By the end, even Xia Feng felt a bit guilty and laughed awkwardly.

“Yeah, I admit… things progressed a little fast.”

After he finished, the office fell silent again.

Su Qingxue simply stared at him without saying a word.

Her lips trembled slightly, and her eyes gradually filled with moisture.

She blinked hard, trying to push the tears back.

Why…

Why did it have to be like this?

The secret she had hidden in her heart for so many years, the feelings she had carefully guarded all this time…

Were suddenly sentenced to death.

She had thought there was still time.

She had thought that as long as she stayed by his side, building the company together, growing with him, one day he would turn around and see her.

But now… he was married.

To another woman.

The fact felt like the sharpest blade, piercing her heart and making it hard to breathe.

But she couldn’t cry.

At least, not in front of him.

She was his best friend. His most trusted partner.

She had her pride.

After a long while, she took a deep breath and forced out a smile that looked worse than crying.

“Is that so…”

Her voice was hoarse.

“Then… I wish you a happy married life.”

Each word seemed squeezed out from between her teeth, draining her strength.

She slowly sat back down and turned to face her computer screen again.

It looked like she was about to bury herself in work, using it to numb her nerves and distract herself.

Xia Feng also turned back to his computer and continued working on his project.

The only sound in the office was the crisp tapping of keyboards, but the suffocating atmosphere lingered heavily in the air.

Time passed bit by bit.

Soon, it was 6:00 PM. Time to get off work.

Xia Feng shut down his computer, packed his things, and walked over to Su Qingxue.

“Qingxue, I’m heading out.”

“Mm.”

She didn’t lift her head, only responding with a faint sound from her nose.

Her eyes remained fixed on the screen. Clearly, she intended to work overtime.

Su Qingxue was a workaholic. Staying late was normal for her.

After getting her response, Xia Feng eagerly thought about picking up his newlywed wife.

He turned and walked out, closing the office door behind him.

Click.

That sound felt like the final straw.

The moment she was left alone in the office, Su Qingxue’s tense shoulders finally collapsed.

She couldn’t hold it in anymore.

Her trembling hands covered her face as she buried her head into her arms.

The tears she had suppressed all afternoon finally broke free.

“Wu… wu wu wu…”
