KABOOM-KABOOM-KABOOM-KABOOM!
The Raufoss Mk 211 rounds struck the Minotaur’s obsidian chest plate at two thousand nine hundred feet per second. The tungsten penetrators punched clean through the dark metal armor, triggering their internal zirconium charges inside the beast’s chest cavity.
Blinding flashes of white-hot thermite fire exploded outward, vaporizing muscle, shattering ribs, and scorching Asterion’s lungs from the inside out.
The Level 55 Dreadnought shrieked—a deafening, agonized bellow that echoed across the frozen peaks. The sheer kinetic momentum of the continuous .50 BMG barrage halted his charge dead in its tracks, blasting chunks of burning flesh and ruined armor off his torso and forcing the fifteen-foot titan backward onto one knee.
"How do you like that, asshole?!" John roared over the deafening cadence of the heavy machine gun, his maxed-out Physical Conditioning absorbing the brutal, bone-jarring recoil of the M2HB effortlessly.
Asterion, operating on sheer primal rage and boss-level tenacity, refused to go down. With blood and steam pouring from his ruined chest, the Minotaur summoned the last of his immense physical strength. He swung his twelve-foot executioner’s axe with a desperate, broad sweep, hurling the massive iron blade straight at John’s emplacement like a spinning missile!
John’s maxed-out Combat Perception registered the incoming flying steel in an instant.
He released the spade grips and dove sideways off the sandbag position.
CRASH-BOOM!
The heavy iron axe slammed into the sandbag barricade, obliterating the M2HB and sending sand, steel fragments, and sparks showering across the ice.
John rolled back onto his boots in the snow, his eyes locked on the heavily bleeding, disarmed boss. He didn’t waste a single microsecond. Reaching into his system interface with a razor-sharp thought, he summoned his heaviest handheld explosive ordnance.
"System! Deploy RPG-7 with PG-7VR Tandem HEAT rocket!"
FLASH!
The iconic, wood-and-steel rocket launcher materialized directly into his hands, pre-loaded with a massive dual-stage warhead designed specifically to defeat heavy explosive reactive armor.
Asterion pushed himself up from his knee, roaring in a final, frantic attempt to close the ten-yard gap with his bare, clawed hands.
John hoisted the RPG-7 onto his right shoulder, aligned the iron sights directly with the open, burning crater on the Minotaur’s chest, and squeezed the trigger.
"Rot in hell!"
FSHHHHHHH-BOOM!
The rocket motor ignited with a blinding backblast of fire and smoke. The tandem HEAT warhead traveled the short distance in a fraction of a frame, striking the exposed, unarmored wound on Asterion’s chest.
KABOOOOOOOOOOOM!
The primary precursor charge blew away the remaining bone fragments, while the secondary main warhead detonated its shaped charge directly against the beast’s heart. Thousands of degrees of concentrated, molten jet pressure blasted through the Minotaur’s internal organs, erupting out his back in a massive geyser of black blood and pulverized tissue.
The fifteen-foot titan froze. His six crimson eyes went completely dim as the kinetic force of the explosion blew him backward, slamming his giant frame onto the icy arena floor with an earth-shattering thud.
Silence returned to the high mountain peak, broken only by the howling sub-zero wind blowing through the broken gates and the heavy, rhythmic gasps of John’s breathing.

The colossal double doors slowly ground open on ancient iron hinges with an echoing CREEEAK that vibrated through the stone floor.
John raised his FN SCAR-H, his tactical boots crunching softly over the hard ice as he approached the threshold.
Swirling clouds of thick, freezing mist rolled through the open doorway, obscuring the interior of the chamber in a dense, milky haze. John adjusted the focus on his AN/PVS-31A night-vision goggles, switching his visor overlay to FLIR thermal vision.
His HUD painted the foggy room in cold blue and violet hues—except for the exact center.
Right in the middle of the massive, vaulted sanctuary, a distinct, radiant heat signature pulsed against the freezing ambient air.
"Movement or energy signature?" John muttered into his headset mic, clicking his selector switch to semi-automatic.
With his maxed-out Combat Perception scanning every shadow, he stepped through the mist. The floor inside was made of polished white marble, free of snow and dust. The freezing fog clung low to the ground, parting around his combat boots as he closed the distance to the pulsing signature.
As he reached the center of the grand chamber, the mist thinned out, revealing the source of the thermal luminescence.
Hovering three feet above a raised marble dais was a massive, twelve-foot-tall blue crystalline monolith. The crystal glowed with a soft, ethereal light, casting geometric reflections across the vaulted stone ceiling.
John raised his rifle slightly, stepping up the dais stairs to inspect the anomaly. He leaned in closer, his white-phosphor optics mapping the interior of the semi-translucent blue structure.
Inside the crystalline cocoon, suspended in suspended animation, was a young woman.
She possessed porcelain-white skin, delicate, elegant facial features, and long, shimmering silver hair that floated around her as if suspended in water. Sharp, slender pointed ears peeked through her hair, marking her unmistakably as an elf. And she was naked.
John lowered his SCAR-H slightly, staring through the crystal wall at the trapped elf girl.
"Well," John growled softly behind his tactical mask. "That’s definitely not a monster."
