[Intelligence Roundup (Ongoing Updates)]

— Posted by Naming is Too Troublesome.

Skipping the pointless venting. Let’s keep the word count tight and get straight to it.

Below is everything I’ve personally been able to confirm so far. If you’ve got new intel, drop it in the replies.

1. When we cross over, we inhabit the body of a local. Their memories gradually return within 6 hours, including language and general knowledge. However, they can only recall the past 7 days — everything before that is a blank, and you’ll have to figure it out on your own.

The same applies to invaders coming over here, except they transform the human body into a Blood Clan form. Slightly better Strength and speed, but Constitution is comparatively weaker. Feeding more may gradually increase their power — or this round might just be a scouting run and a starter pack giveaway, with the real Blood Clan heavyweights yet to show up.

2. Invaders are afraid of sunlight. Garlic and holy water do nothing. Silver Weapons give them some trouble, but it’s not as dramatic as the legends make it sound. They need blood to sustain themselves and become especially desperate for it when injured. Destroying the brain kills them completely — after death, the body rapidly turns to ash in sunlight and leaves nothing behind.

3. INSIDER INTEL! Getting bitten by an invader triggers transformation into a new Blood Clan member within six hours — just like a zombie virus! Most critically, sunlight cannot kill the Blood Clan factor inside you during the transformation, and there is currently no known method to stop the process.

4. The higher-ups in Guan City have started paying close attention to this situation, but I have no way to tell anyone about any of this — and I’m sure it’s the same for you. On top of that, I can’t leave Guan City. The moment I step into an airport or high-speed rail station, a system prompt pops up threatening to strip my Character Card and wipe my memory.

So I’m guessing everyone here is a Guan City local? And since we crossed over, we probably aren’t too far from each other either?

Anyone up for meeting in person?

I’m hot, by the way!

5. We can’t bring any items across with us — holding something in your hand doesn’t work. This time I’m going to try holding something in my mouth. If you’re feeling brave, you could also try storing something inside your body. How? Use your imagination!

6. When we cross over, time in this world freezes — the system confirmed this. When invaders come to us, time in the Red Corpse World freezes too. Both worlds appear to run on the same timeline for now, but this needs more long-term observation.

It’s one side per turn — hunting each other, defending our own worlds. Maybe if we destroy the other side’s world, this whole absurd game ends?

But how exactly we’d go about destroying it — that’s the question.

7. Who created the Invasion Game? What’s the point of it? Are we really just Characters inside a novel? This is completely insane!

8. What does the so-called "word count" in the panel actually do? My guess is that it works like experience points for leveling up — does anyone know for sure?

That’s the full roundup!

I’ll open a separate thread later to compile the intel I’ve gathered in the Red Corpse World.

Alright, I’m off to slack off.

Yin Zhen blinked. How did someone else end up with the same naming logic as her?

[Blossoming Prosperity liked this post]

Yin Zhen hit like without hesitation. This "Naming is Too Troublesome" was surprisingly generous with information — she was going to need intel from every direction going forward, so it was worth making a good first impression.

Apart from the insider tip about biting and the detail about being unable to leave Guan City, everything else in the post was either something she already knew or could have figured out herself. As for intel on Character Cards and Extraordinary Abilities, she doubted anyone would be willing to share that.

Nobody else was posting, and there was no way to view usernames, so Yin Zhen closed the forum.

As for the so-called "word count," her guess was the same — experience points or some kind of currency, used down the line to upgrade her Identity Card. From cannon fodder to supporting Character, from supporting Character to protagonist, perhaps.

Or maybe it was a consumable resource of some kind. The specifics would have to wait until the system made an announcement.

She still had 3 unspent attribute points, which she could allocate to either her base self or her Character Card. The cat form couldn’t receive points.

Yin Zhen held off for now. She wanted to wait until her base body had recovered before using them to strengthen it.

Her base self was the Player. Even though it was far weaker than the Character Card right now, it couldn’t be neglected.

If other worlds opened up down the line beyond the Red Corpse World — and if Character Cards couldn’t be carried into them — then a strong base body would be the only thing that truly mattered.

Besides, S717 was a test subject. Everything about her was under the company’s surveillance. A sudden spike in her physical data would draw attention. That was a risk she couldn’t afford.

So the attribute points would have to stay on hold for now.

[00:09:12]

With nine minutes left on the clock, Yin Zhen shifted back into her human form and was surprised to find her clothes completely intact, with nothing she was carrying disturbed.

This kind of Transformation was more like magical shapeshifting than anything physical — most likely a deliberate design choice by the author of the Red Corpse World, to ensure Characters didn’t end up exposed or stripped of their gear every time they changed forms.

A novel’s world bending its own logic a little. Perfectly normal.

Yin Zhen moved back into her wheelchair, checked the doors and windows one more time, tucked a piece of candy in her mouth, gripped her Bone Cutting Knife tight, and waited for the countdown to hit zero.

This time, no matter what, she was going to last until the timer ran out and come back.

To get revenge.

Seven o’clock on the dot.

[Countdown complete. Time in this world is now frozen.]

[The tutorial round has ended. The official game phase is now beginning. Identity upgrade paths are now unlocked.]

[Each round will generate one random public Event Card. Complete it for rewards. Fail and you pay a penalty. Passive non-participation counts as failure.]

Just like before, Yin Zhen found herself inside that dark, oppressive Gothic Style building — her card table in front of her, two Gray Cards waiting, lightning cutting silently across the stained glass outside.

She hadn’t even had time to look over the changes to her Player Card when an ornate Silver Card materialized out of thin air above the table.

[Side Story Card]

The card flipped over, and two words — dripping red — slammed into Yin Zhen’s eyes.

[ASSASSINATION]

[Classic side story type "Assassination" has been activated. Assassinate one elder of the Eternal Council in the Red Corpse World before this round ends.]

[Mission success rewards: Silver Item ×1, attribute points ×10, 10,000 word count. One reward, first come first served.]

[Failure deducts 5,000 word count. If accumulated word count on your Identity Card drops below the minimum threshold, your Identity will be downgraded. If word count reaches zero, your current Character Card will be forfeit, all memories related to the Invasion Game will be erased, and the Player will be returned to their original fate.]

[Friendly reminder: Silver Event Cards are calibrated for the "Major Supporting Character" Identity Level. Players holding Copper Cards or Gray Cards are advised to think carefully before attempting this event. Players may explore the Red Corpse World to trigger various Event Cards and accumulate word count as a buffer against penalties.]

[We run a legitimate game. Every Player will always have a way out — we do not arbitrarily eliminate or target Players. Rest assured, and enjoy the experience.]

The door behind the table swung open again, same as last time, and the bloody light from outside poured in and swallowed everything.

Yin Zhen’s consciousness snapped back into S717’s body, and the bone-deep pain from the fight with the Fallen Species hit her all over again.

The candy hadn’t made it through. Yin Zhen clenched her jaw and looked up without letting anything show on her face.

[167:59:57]

hours. A full seven days this time.

Assassinate a council elder?

Are they out of their minds?!

Most of the Eternal Council’s elders were Pure Blood Nobles from the three great families — people whose names you lowered your voice to say. Their own abilities were nothing to scoff at, and on top of that they were surrounded by guards with Extraordinary Abilities rated B-level or higher, plus every kind of high-tech Weapon imaginable.

Seven days wasn’t enough. Seventy might not be either.

And yet — the penalty was effectively a death sentence for her.

Including the reward for killing Chen Wei, she had accumulated a grand total of 1,733 words. Pay the fine with her life?

And if she couldn’t pay it, how was she ever supposed to go back and get her revenge?

Just as Yin Zhen’s rage was peaking, a system chime rang out in her mind.

[Another cannon fodder died before you, taking the hit in your place.]

[Gray Card event "First to Die" completed. Title acquired: "I have experience." +300 word count.]

[Title: I have experience]

[Effect: When facing a monster that once nearly killed you — one that you later killed in return — shout "I have experience" to gain a 10% All Attributes boost for 3 minutes. Cooldown: 1 hour.]

Three hundred words. Absolutely useless.

Yin Zhen’s vision kept blacking out from sheer fury, and the steady blood loss from S717’s wounds was making her mind go hazy. Fortunately, just before she lost consciousness, she saw the lab researchers burst through the door of the training room and inject a Healing Potion directly into her body.
