The person who had been robbed thanked Minh profusely and pressed fifty thousand dong into his hand.

Delighted, Minh happily stuffed the money into his pocket and turned to leave when he heard a loud rip.Full novel: If I Had One More Chance — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The pocket that had torn that morning had completely split open.

The fifty-thousand-dong note slowly floated to the ground.

A pleasant breeze caught it and sent it twirling through the air like a butterfly.

Minh chased after it, running while begging the wind to stop being so helpful.

The banknote landed right in front of the nose of a goat tied up by the roadside.

The goat didn’t hesitate for even half a second.

It grabbed the note and began chewing happily.

Minh’s eyes went wide.

He clasped his hands together and pleaded, “Mr.

Goat…

that’s money, not vegetables.”

The goat chewed slowly, then let out an enormous burp.

The goat’s owner laughed until tears streamed down his face, while Minh stood there counting…

the goat’s teeth.

Determined to negotiate, Minh took out the remaining half of his bánh mì and held it in front of the goat.

The goat looked at the bread, then looked at Minh with an expression of complete contempt.

It tilted its head, then suddenly grabbed…

the leg of his trousers.

Minh hopped all over the sidewalk while the goat dragged along behind him as if it were flying a kite.

A group of children burst into laughter, cheering loudly for the goat to win.

After finally escaping the goat, Minh’s trouser leg was reduced to just a few dangling threads.

He stood there panting, his stomach growling nonstop.

Just as he passed a rice restaurant, the female owner cheerfully called out, “Hey!

We’re giving away free meals today!”

Minh was so happy that tears welled up in his eyes.

He bowed gratefully and rushed inside.

Before he even had a chance to sit down, the woman laughed and said, “Oh…

the free meals were yesterday.

They’re all gone today.”

Minh stood in front of the restaurant, his stomach growling so loudly that the owner turned around to look at him.

He hugged his stomach and laughed.

“It’s okay, sis.

My stomach is just…

saying hello to the food.”

The woman burst out laughing and, feeling sorry for him, gave him an egg.

Minh sat down and clasped his hands together as if he had just been appointed to a prestigious position.

But just as he raised his chopsticks, the egg slipped out of his bowl and rolled straight onto the ground.
