Lu Hengge felt like he must have woken up the wrong way. He closed his eyes again, waited a moment, then opened them once more. The woman was still in his arms. So this wasn’t a spring dream?

He didn’t make a sound. Instead, he gently got up from bed and stood, silently staring at the woman for a long time. He could sense that her cultivation was terrifying, but strangely, she didn’t exude any killing intent. It seemed like she had willingly climbed into his bed and slept there all night.

Lu Hengge rubbed his chin thoughtfully. After a brief moment of hesitation, he took out a handful of bottles and jars from his storage ring. Once opened, the room was filled with an overwhelming medicinal aroma—so strong it was almost irritating.

Grrr—

His stomach growled loudly.

Lu Hengge sighed helplessly. Ever since he became a mortal, he seemed to have returned to a life of needing three meals a day to fill his belly.

But that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing. Satisfying the cravings of the tongue was a kind of enjoyment too. Especially now that he couldn’t cultivate for the time being and had to moderate his time spent refining pills, aside from studying the [Gazing Immortal Scripture], the only thing left to pass the time was cooking.

Without further delay, Lu Hengge got to work.

In the Three Thousand Dao Sect, most animals had been influenced by spiritual Qi and gained a degree of intelligence and cultivation. Catching them for food was no easy task. Since brute force wouldn’t work… time for a softer method.

Lu Hengge had a natural talent for poisoning.

Enlightened animals no longer ate grass and flesh alone. They were also attracted to things dense with spiritual Qi. Using pills as bait, he lured more and more.

He took out a pill from his storage ring and tossed it outside. After a while, he opened the door and found a plump red-tailed chicken collapsed outside. It was still twitching, unable to cluck even once.

“Sorry, Brother Chicken. Today’s just not your lucky day.”

Lu Hengge brought it back inside. After plucking and cleaning it, the rich aroma of stew soon filled the hut.

“Lu Hengge.” A crisp and flirtatious voice came from behind.

Without turning his head, Lu Hengge scooped a spoonful of soup to check the saltiness before calmly replying, “Who are you?”

The woman didn’t have any killing intent. And given her cultivation level, killing him would be effortless. Resistance was futile anyway.

Mo Hu glanced down at her disheveled clothes and flushed with embarrassment. Back when she hadn’t taken human form, she never had to deal with such awkward situations. “You don’t remember me?” she asked, her voice laced with deep disappointment.

Hearing that, Lu Hengge finally turned to face her. He stared carefully at the woman sitting on the bed. “You…”

Mo Hu’s eyes filled with anticipation.

The next second, Lu Hengge pointed to her chest. “Your undergarment’s showing.”

Pervert!

Mo Hu’s face turned bright red. Her small white ears twitched with shame as she quickly straightened out her clothing. Visit g.com for the full chapter.

Lu Hengge carried the steaming chicken soup to the table. “I don’t remember ever meeting you. Fellow cultivator, you must have mistaken me for someone else.”

Mo Hu was stunned. Lu Hengge indeed had never seen her in human form before. Still, she thought it was his fault for not recognizing her. Huffing, she got up and sat at the table, snatching the entire pot of chicken soup. Lu Hengge had only taken one sip—he didn’t even get a bite of meat.

“I’m hungry.”

Without waiting for a response, Mo Hu tore off a drumstick and took a big bite.

Lu Hengge smacked his lips. This woman was so aggressive—it was hard to like her.

He didn’t rush her. Only after Mo Hu had eaten the entire chicken did he calmly ask, “Full now? If not—”

Mo Hu looked at him with hopeful eyes.

So he could be considerate after all!

Unexpectedly, Lu Hengge crushed her excitement with his next words, “If you’re still hungry, there’s nothing left anyway. You’re a cultivator—you don’t need food to survive.”

Instantly, Mo Hu’s delicate face darkened.

After so many years apart, how had this man become so irritating?

Her eyes narrowed, and a teasing smile curled on her lips. “Lu Hengge, do you know why I’m here?”

Lu Hengge shook his head.

At first, he suspected Ye Feng had hired an assassin, but thinking carefully, Ye Feng’s network wasn’t developed enough yet to know such a terrifying woman.

What surprised him even more was that this stunning female cultivator didn’t appear to be part of Ye Feng’s future harem—at least not in the previous life. Lu Hengge had never seen her around Ye Feng before.

The course of history had already begun to change ever since Lu Hengge crippled his own cultivation.

“Someone asked me to kill you,” Mo Hu said, resting her chin on her hands, eyes blinking playfully. “So? Should I kill you?”

Lu Hengge glanced at her. There was no killing intent at all. This meant one of two things—either she was exceptionally good at hiding it, or she had no intent to kill him in the first place.

Lu Hengge leaned toward the latter. If she really wanted to kill him, she could’ve done it last night.

“Ye Feng?” he asked with a smile.

No—Lu Hengge was not her master anymore! The moment he sent her back to the fox clan, that relationship had ended.

While clearing the table, Lu Hengge casually asked, “Then why haven’t you made your move? I’ve lost all my cultivation. Killing me wouldn’t be difficult.”

Mo Hu’s smile faded. She went quiet for a moment, then asked, “What happened to your cultivation?”

Lu Hengge raised a brow. Was she… concerned about him?

That was rare.

He thought only Elder Yao Fan would still care about him in this world.

“I crippled it myself. Starting over from the beginning.”

“It’s just a Nascent Soul. Abandoning it isn’t that big of a deal.”

Mo Hu figured something must have happened behind the scenes. But knowing Lu Hengge’s personality, she knew asking would be pointless. “After years of hard cultivation, you’re really willing to throw it away?”

Once the cleanup was done, Lu Hengge smiled and looked at her. “So, fellow cultivator, are you going to make your move?”

They were standing very close.

If Mo Hu tried to kill him, the guards outside wouldn’t be able to react in time.

Yet Lu Hengge wasn’t nervous at all. In fact, he was confident he could kill her the moment she tried.

After all, an 8th-grade alchemist also went by another name—8th-grade poison master.

From the moment Mo Hu stepped into the hut, she had already been poisoned. Just in case, Lu Hengge had even used a few extra types of deadly toxins. Given how high her cultivation was, he had to stay cautious.

Even a Fusion Realm expert couldn’t fully resist all of them.

Unless… she had the Poison Heavenly Physique.

If that were the case, then he’d just have to admit defeat.

But Mo Hu had no intention of attacking. Instead, a strange amusement flashed in her eyes. She licked her lips slowly, her gaze growing sultry. “I won’t kill you… if you call me ‘Master.’”

Lu Hengge: ?

Wow. This woman… definitely had some kinks.
