Everything Is Still Under Control
“Henry! How can you be here?”
Jessica Lewis abruptly stood up, but her feet stumbled, causing her to fall to the ground.
Seeing her in such a sorry state, Henry Rumelter couldn’t help but frown.
This was the first time he had seen Jessica so disheveled.
He directly tore open the cell door, then stepped inside to help Jessica up.
Witnessing Henry’s actions, Jessica’s mouth hung open wide enough to fit an egg.
“Henry, you just pried the door open?”
“It shouldn’t be a problem, right? You are Her Royal Highness The Princess, this kind of expense should be reimbursable, right?”
Faced with Henry’s joke, Jessica could not bring herself to laugh.
In her opinion, her title of Her Royal Highness The Princess was simply a joke.
Her father only saw her as a tool, and he had even insulted her mother, yet she could do nothing about it, not even manage to get Henry released.
This series of events had been devastating for her.
Yet, when facing Henry, she still forced a smile onto her face.
“Henry, I am very happy to see you, but can you tell me, how did you get to this place?”
“Oh, at that time a woman came to my cell and said some inexplicable things, claiming she was the future Empress. I thought she was a lunatic, so I slapped her, and then she locked me up in here.”
Jessica stared at Henry in shock.
She originally thought Henry’s usual actions were crazy enough.
She never expected Henry to dare to slap that woman’s face!
It was a pity she wasn’t there to see it; witnessing that scene would have been so satisfying.
“She… she is right. Joseph is indeed going to marry that woman as his wife.”
Jessica took a deep breath, trying to keep her weary mind clear.
“He has changed, no. He never changed. The love he showed my mother before was all an illusion. He never loved my mother at all; one could even say he was jealous of her.”
During her time in the cell, Jessica had completely figured it out.
Why did he always emphasize that her mother had hindered him.
Why did he always emphasize his status, his power, his Empire.
All of this, probably stemmed from his inferiority complex.
Because compared to her mother, his existence was simply too insignificant.
Everyone would sing praises of her mother’s contributions, but they would only forget this legitimate King.
So, after her mother passed away, he revealed his true colors.
Marrying that woman was also just to erase her mother’s existence.
As time faded, perhaps in the future no one would mention her mother, only that woman named Selina.
Henry sat down cross-legged beside her, quietly listening to Jessica’s words.
“Henry, don’t you think this Princess is ridiculous?”
Jessica curled up again, her eyes somewhat dazed.
“Your Royal Highness, what you urgently need right now is a sturdy shoulder, and it just so happens there is one right here.”
Henry patted his own shoulder and even raised an eyebrow at Jessica.
But looking at Henry’s actions, Jessica couldn’t understand. Clearly, Henry’s own situation wasn’t good either, so why could he still remain so optimistic?
Right now, he was bearing the title of murderer.
If the charges were confirmed, he would be executed!
“Henry, are you not afraid of death?”
“You’re not the first person to ask me that today.”
“Then what happened to the first person who asked?”
“I slapped her, and then she sent me in here to find you.”
Henry made a victory sign with his fingers, clearly indicating ‘mission accomplished’.
Jessica couldn’t hold back and pfft laughed out loud.
“Considering Your Royal Highness asked so sincerely, I’ll answer properly.” Henry cleared his throat. “Of course I am! Who isn’t afraid of death?”
“Then how can you still be so calm?”
“Because everything is still under control.”
While in his cell, Henry carefully pondered the role of the original owner.
Why did the original owner become a user of Dark Magic in the mid-game?
The reason was probably that the original owner couldn’t stay at the academy, was driven out of the Rumelter family by Luning Rumelter, and finally practiced Dark Magic, becoming a Boss.
This was the original game’s route.
But now, while he had indeed been driven out of the Rumelter family, he could still stay at Saint Nad Magic Academy.
It was this very matter that became a key turning point.
Obviously, the Rumelter family did not want him to stay at the academy.
At the same time, judging from the Rumelter family’s constant demands for him to drop out, even being willing to send people to negotiate, they did not want to eliminate him, but simply wanted him to leave Saint Nad Magic Academy.
So at this stage, no matter how much he courted death, the Rumelter family would not allow him to die so easily.
However, he still had missions to complete, so he must find the real murderer.
Looking at Henry’s confident smile, Jessica suddenly felt that Henry was a bit too dazzling.
Compared to Henry, she was simply wallowing in self-pity here.
She somewhat envied Henry, who could do all these things so freely.
Feeling the fatigue in her body surge over her like a tide.
Jessica subconsciously leaned on Henry’s shoulder.
“Henry, I saw Joseph personally give my mother’s memento to that woman. He didn’t care about my mother’s things at all. But for me, my mother’s memento is an important memory of her existence in this world.”
“Your mother’s memento?”
“Yes, it’s an alchemical ring that can temporarily seal the surrounding magical power.”
Jessica’s mind was filled with that ring; she wanted to take it back from that woman’s hands personally, no matter the cost!
She clenched her fists tightly, her bones even making sounds from the force.
But Henry, with a puzzled look, took out a ring from his pocket and placed it before Jessica’s eyes.
“Um, is it this one?”
That familiar ring suddenly appeared in Jessica’s line of sight.
She grabbed Henry’s hand tightly, afraid that the ring would run away!
“Th-this… how did this ring end up in your hands? Wasn’t it clearly given to that woman by Joseph?”
“I don’t know. That woman walked in wearing such a dazzling ring. Wasn’t it just asking to be robbed?!”
Henry found it hard to explain this matter, as it wasn’t very moral from an ethical standpoint.
“Can you give this ring to me? It’s my mother’s memento, it’s very important to me.”
Jessica’s eyes were filled with longing.
This made Henry feel somewhat embarrassed.
He silently averted his gaze and said.
“Since it’s something so important to you, then take it back.”
“Thank you, Henry!”
In her excitement, Jessica kissed Henry on the cheek!
The soft lips retreated quickly after touching Henry’s cheek!
By the time Jessica realized what she had done, it was already too late.
Her cheeks flushed red, she bit her lip, feeling somewhat at a loss.
Jessica: What should I do, I seem to have been too impulsive!
