Having found his way to a place that looked more like a castle than a student dorm", he was greeted by multiple servants on his way to find his room.
Only after inspecting his card once more did he realize it wasn’t for just a room; no, it was for an entire corridor in this castle. In the second-floor left wing, this old geezer had been lying to him; this couldn’t be the best place if he had to climb stairs.
Unwillingly, he continued his way up; he found an old servant at the door for his corridor. "Young master Bright, I am more than happy to serve you. I am Irose," the man said, greeting him with a deep bow.
"Thank you, Irose. Is my room ready?" Steven asked, feeling barely any magical energy from the old man.
"Yes, it is, sir, and your... guest is already waiting," Irose answered and then quickly added. "But I must tell you then rooms are not entirely soundproof.’’ His voice was trying to remain in a professional way, but Steven could see the man nearly laughing.
But Steven just walked past him with a nod. A guest? Who was he talking about and what was the last comment about? Steven continued walking, confused, until he arrived at the only already-opened double door.
The room was a bedroom in a blue-golden color palette. In the middle was a king-sized bed, but what was on top was much more interesting.
Lying on his bed was Lucy, only wearing a nightdress, her legs crossed as if she were waiting for him. Giving her a quick stare, Steven instantly turned his head away towards a fancy decorated wall.
’’What are you doing here?’’ He asked in a voice between annoyance and embarrassment.
"I need to talk to you," she answered as Steven could hear her stand up from the bed.
’’In this outfit?’’ Steven countered, his gaze still fixed on the wall as if he wanted to count every single decoration on it. Until he could feel her finger tapping on his shoulders.
’’Your guard probably wouldn’t have let me in otherwise.’’ As he hand moved over his shoulder to his arm as she turned him around. ’’Do i make you nervous or why are you acting so strange?’’
Only staring at her purple eyes. ’’Cut the crap, what do you want from me?’’
’’Oh why do you always think so bad of me Stevie.’’ As she moved her hand towards her face like she had been caught.
’’Don’t call me that.’’ He answered, his seriousness slowly returning.
But Lucy only continued as she shook her head, her long blond hair swaying through the air. "Don’t be so mean to me; I took all this time to get here, and you won’t even listen to me."
’’Fine then just tell me what you want so we can finish this.’’ He spoke with a sharp voice.
’’Ok ok, I am here to tell you that this princess has found great interest in you, she even asked the ministry for every data available on Steven Bright.’’ Her voice was flat and there was an undertone of annoyance but it didn’t seem to be directed at him.
’’Do you think she found out I am here undercover?’’ Steven could feel slight panic rising in him, maybe he had overdone it with the performance. This could easily turn out fatal to his mission.
"No, not that kind of data... more like personal info and your connections to others," Lucy spoke as Steven finally realized what she was talking about.
His heart dropped to his shoes. ’’You don’t mean like...’’ But she simply nodded as Steven began to sway; he leaned against his door, closing it.
Turning around, he slowly hammered his head against the wall. ’’And what do you have to do with all this?’’ He asked while his head slowly began to hurt.
’’I wasn’t supposed to tell anyone but my mission here is to protect the princess at any cost... So you messing around could become a problem.’’ She answered he tone stone cold.
’’How could this even happen?’’ Slowly hearing the wood splinter behind his head.
"You have some qualities about you that women might find appealing," Lucy answered in a whisper, her voice nearly shaking. "Only objectively, of course."
’’But i need to you promise me you won’t try anything with her while your in this school you understand?’’ Lucy added, her voice stabilizing.
Turning around towards her, Steven nodded. "Don’t worry, I am only here for my mission and a good pay cut." He answered truthfully, wanting this whole embarrassing situation to disappear as fast as possible.
Seeing his agreeing nod, Lucy let out a deep breathe. ’’Ok I will be going then.’’ As she walked past him and opened to door slowly. ’’See you tomorrow.’’
"Yeah, till tomorrow." He answered out of reflex, already feeling his weekend disappearing.
Sitting down on the cold floor, he could hear Lucy’s steps slowly disappearing in the hallway barely a minute later. A heavier pair of steps came closer.
Until somebody quietly knocked on his open door. "May I come in, Master?" Irose’s voice asked behind the door.
’’Sure Irose, what do you want.’’ Steven was slowly getting tired of people always wanting something from him.
’’I just wanted to inform you that the lady has returned to her room safely... And you two weren’t too loud, so most likely nobody heard you.’’ The old man cleared his throat, inspecting the slightly damaged door with an impressed gaze.
’’Oh thanks Irose.’’ Steven answered barely listening until it struck him. ’’ Wait no it’s not what you think.’’ He continued a minute later but the old servant had already disappeared.
Steven slowly began to think this whole mission was going terrible.
And tomorrow would probably be even worse.
