Hatshepsut sped down the busy street.

The night air felt delightful as she weaved in and out of traffic on her motorcycle.Full novel: Immortal Deception — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

She marveled at all the lit buildings that lined the strip and defined the horizon.

She smiled slightly at the drunken pedestrians as they walked in and out of the many clubs and casinos on the strip.

She could feel herself become swept away in the jovial atmosphere.

I needed this.

Hatshepsut had been feeling depressed the last few days.

After she left Senemut, she spent a couple of days in France, trying to remove her thoughts of Roman but to no avail.

Even now as she soaked up the buoyant surroundings, the grim feeling of loneliness was trying to creep back, pushing away her carefree mood.

Roman .

.

.

Hatshepsut had listened to Senemut’s words and took them to heart.

The more she thought about them the more foolish she felt.

Human or not, she did enjoy spending time with Roman.

They were perfectly matched.

Roman was powerful, intelligent and he seemed to adore her, all qualities she admired.

Nonetheless, she couldn’t get pass the fact of his short life span.

How old is he now?

How many more years does he have?

Hatshepsut knew that the last question wasn’t exactly one she could get an answer, but it didn’t stop her from pondering on it.

This only darkened her mood farther.

She sighed.

Remember why you are here, Hatshepsut scolded herself as she pulled up behind one of the many upscale hotels.

She got off her bike, removed her helmet and looked up at the building.

I could do this from another building, Hatshepsut pondered as she reached into her jacket for her shades.

He would not see it coming.

Then Hatshepsut smiled.

I feel risky.

Hatshepsut heard a door opened.

Since she had studied the floor plans earlier that day, she knew it led to the kitchen.

She flashed pass the man that was walking out the door, through the kitchen and into the stairwell.

Penthouse suite would be up.

Hatshepsut flashed up to top floor and peeked through the door.

She stalked out and glanced around the corner to see where the cameras were set up.

She noticed two guards at the door.

She pushed her hair back and looked at them with her marked eye.

She could see their turbulent auras.

Demons.

She flashed down the hall and stood in-between them, frosting the lens of the cameras on her way there.

“Hello, boys,” she said with a smile.

The two guards turned and looked at her confused.

In a matter of seconds both were ice shards on the floor.

She snatched a keycard from the pocket of one of the guards as he succumbed to his icy demise.

She smiled as she opened the door quietly.

As she walked in, she could hear voices.

She glanced around the corner and saw two men sitting on the sofa watching the television.

This is too easy.

She heard another door open.

She stood still as a well-dressed man walked out of the bedroom of the suite.

He was followed by a woman.

“I’m on my way downstairs,” he said buttoning his cuffs. Enjoying the story? Read on at g.com.

“You two keep an eye on things.” The man stopped abruptly as he saw Hatshepsut dressed in black leather walk into the room.

She casually removed her shades with a smirk.

“You are Dominique Horvés, yes?” Hatshepsut asked very businesslike.

“It depends on who’s asking,” Horvés said.

“I am asking,” Hatshepsut said as she put her shades in her front pocket.

“And who would you be?”

“I will be your assassin this evening,” Hatshepsut said with a pleasant smile.

“I hope all of your affairs are in order.”

“You can go to Hell!” Horvés cried as he backed into the bedroom with the woman, leaving the two men with Hatshepsut.

Hatshepsut looked at the two men with curiosity.

“Are you supposed to stop me?” Hatshepsut asked casually.

The two men looked at each other and then Hatshepsut.

They both flicked out long thorned tongues towards Hatshepsut which she dodged.

“Demons,” Hatshepsut said with a smile.

“Good.

There is no need for me to hold back.”

One lunged at her and flung his tongue out at her again.

This time she grabbed it.

“I am not that kind of girl,” Hatshepsut said as she began freezing his tongue.

She swung his freezing body into the other demon, but he evaded the blow as he lunged at Hatshepsut.

He flicked his thorned tongue at her again.

This time it wrapped around her neck digging its sharp spikes into her skin.

A piercing pain began to spread around her neck and chest as the demon’s acidic saliva burned her skin.

He flung her to the floor.

“You foul creature!” Hatshepsut cried as she kicked his feet from beneath him.

She raised her leg and brought her the heel of her foot down on his head.

She could hear a wet crunch as its skull cracked.

Hatshepsut stood up and readjusted herself as the skin of her neck healed.

She heard the injured demon moan on the floor as she walked pass.

Hatshepsut reached under the back of her jacket, pulled out a gun and shot him.

She didn’t watch as his body transformed into ice, but she could hear the crackle as he transformed.

She re-holstered her gun as she walked over to the double doors of the bedroom but was stopped as two more men came crashing through the door from the outside hall.

He must have called for backup.

Hatshepsut leaped straight up over the lunging demons as they swipe at her with long curved talons.

Hatshepsut landed behind them with her guns drawn.

She fired a single shot from each gun.

She could feel the ice as it made contact with her victims.

She could feel the energy of the ice as it encased each demon.

Hatshepsut looked at each with disbelief.

They both should be ice blocks.

Hatshepsut watched as they both broke free of their icy restraints and sneered at Hatshepsut.

“We’re fira demons,” one scoffed.

“Your ice has no effect on us.”

“We will see,” Hatshepsut said darkly.

The demons cackled as they began shooting fire at her from their hands.

With her incredible speed, Hatshepsut maneuvered around their attacks and leaped over one.

She drove her elbow hard into its spine.

She could hear a snap followed by an awful yelp.

Hatshepsut turned her attention to the other demon that reached out for her with its flaming talons and sharp teeth bared.

Hatshepsut aimed her gun at its opened mouth and began filling its mouth with ice.

The thrust of the bullets pushed the demon back.

“No effect,” Hatshepsut mocked as she reached down for the demon whose spine she had broken.

She grabbed it by the hair and with a twist, ripped its head off.

Hatshepsut left their smoldering remains behind as she walked over to the double doors again to get to Horvés.

Hatshepsut put her hands on the doors.

Slowly the doors transformed into ice allowing her to see Horvés and the woman waiting in horror.

With a loud crack, the doors exploded knocking Horvés and his lady friend back.

“Knock, knock,” Hatshepsut said as she strolled in.

The woman pulled out a gun and aimed at Hatshepsut, but before she could pull the trigger, Hatshepsut flashed behind her and snapped her neck.

Horvés stood in front of the bed calm as he watched his lady friend disintegrate before his eyes.

“You’re not going to kill me,” Horvés said confidently.

“Why would you think that?” Hatshepsut asked amused.

“You don’t kill humans,” Horvés said with a smile.

“The great ice assassin only kills demons.

“But you are not human,” Hatshepsut said as she pushed him down on the bed and crawled over him.

“Not completely.

I see your aura.

I smell your blood.

You are in the process of converting to a demon.

Why would you want to be like them?

They are empty creatures forever looking to be filled.”

“They have power.”

“Obviously not enough,” Hatshepsut smirked as she motioned back with her head at the carnage she left behind.

Hatshepsut sat up on him and put both of her hands on his chest.

Horvés could feel the painful sting of cold spreading from her fingertips across his chest.

“I am going to kill you slow,” Hatshepsut said coldly.

“I will double whatever you are being paid,” Horvés said with panic.

He could feel the stinging cold cutting its way towards his heart.

“Triple.”

“Save your breath.

There is no amount you can offer me.

I have principals.”

“What if I have some information that may interest you,” Horvés said, the pain becoming evident in his voice.

“What could you possibly say that will interest me?”

“What if I told you that you are a wanted woman?

Would that interest you?”

Hatshepsut removed her hands from his chest and crossed her arms.

She still remained kneeling over him.

“Speak.”

“I am sure you are familiar with the Demonic Bounty List?”

“Very.”

“A new listing was made on the list recently.

A five million dollar listing.

Guess who it’s for?”

“Me.”

“Yes, you, the notorious ice assassin, are wanted dead.

Does that interest you?”

Hatshepsut pondered his words as she got up slowly and turned towards the door.

“Why don’t you work for me?” Horvés said sitting up.

“I need someone with your skill and looks.

I can think of the perfect job for you.”

Hatshepsut reached behind under her jacket and turned towards Horvés with a gun raised.

“Not interested,” she said as she pulled the trigger.
