Some habits enter everyone life so quietly…
She don’t realize they’ve become important until one day they’re missing.
And somehow—
Kairo’s messages had started becoming one of those habits.
It started with small things.
A random:
> “Did you eat?”
At 4 PM.
Or:
> “You disappeared today.”
When she stayed offline too long.
Tiny messages.
Simple messages.
Yet somehow…
Her day felt strangely incomplete without them now.
Which was honestly becoming a problem.
A dangerous problem.
Because emotional attachment had always scared her more than loneliness ever did.
Loneliness was familiar.
But getting used to someone?
That could destroy people.
Tonight her room felt colder than usual.
Rain clouds covered the sky again while soft thunder echoed somewhere far away.
She sat near her window wrapped in a blanket, trying to finish an assignment which she had been avoiding for hours.
Unfortunately—
Her concentration died the moment her phone vibrated.
Her eyes instantly moved toward the screen.
And there it was again.
That stupid little smile appearing on her face automatically.
She hated that smile.
…Okay maybe not hated.
But still.
> @Kairo.97:
> “Are you studying or pretending to study?”
She stared at the message dramatically.
Then typed back:
> “Bold of you to assume I even opened the assignment properly.”
Seen instantly.
> “So the answer is pretending.”
> “I prefer the word struggling.”
A few seconds later:
> “That explains why you were online staring at the same document for 40 minutes.”
Her eyes widened.
> “ARE YOU MONITORING ME?”
> “Maybe.”
She laughed loudly this time.
Actually laughed.
Not the small polite smiles she usually gave people.
And weirdly…
the room suddenly felt less heavy afterward.
Meanwhile.
Inside another country, another late night existed quietly.
Kairo sat cross-legged on the studio couch while producers adjusted music equipment nearby.
The room was loud.
But somehow his attention kept drifting toward her messages instead.
His exhaustion still existed.
Schedules still overwhelmed him.
People still expected perfection constantly.
Yet somehow…
Her conversations made his mind quieter.
Not happier exactly.
Just calmer.
And lately— that feeling had started becoming addictive.
Yahon suddenly dropped beside him dramatically again.
“You’re smiling at your phone.”
“I’m literally not.”
“You literally are.”
Kairo immediately hid the screen instinctively.
Which unfortunately made Yahon gasp like a detective discovering national secrets.
“OH MY GOD.”
“Stop being dramatic.”
“It’s definitely a girl.”
Kairo laughed tiredly while shaking his head.
“You watch too many movies.”
“And you suddenly enjoy texting after midnight every day.”
…Silence.
Yahon’s eyes widened slowly.
“WAIT. EVERY DAY?”
Kairo immediately regretted existing.
From across the room, Jiwoo looked up instantly.
“Every day?”
Jihoon sighed without even looking up from his laptop.
“I don’t want details.”
“Yes you do,” Yahon answered immediately.
“No I really don’t.”
The room erupted into chaos while Kairo buried his face into his hoodie dramatically.
And honestly?
A tiny part of him knew they weren’t completely wrong.
Because lately…
he had started waiting for her replies too.
Back in the room, her migraine had thankfully eased slightly.
The conversation continued lazily while rain hit the windows softly.
No pressure.
No awkwardness.
Just random thoughts flowing naturally.
Until suddenly— another message appeared.
> “Can I tell you something weird?” This story is hosted at g.com.
She blinked slightly.
> “That sentence already sounds concerning.”
> “I think talking to you became part of my routine.”
Her breath caught immediately.
The room suddenly felt quieter.
Rain louder.
Heartbeat faster.
She reread the message slowly.
Once.
Then again.
Because somehow…
those words felt scarier than flirting.
Routine meant importance.
Routine meant attachment.
And attachment meant the possibility of losing someone later.
Her fingers hovered above the keyboard uncertainly.
Then finally—
She typed honestly.
> “That sounds dangerous.”
Seen.
Then:
> “Probably.”
Her chest tightened softly.
Because for the first time— it felt like both of them were silently acknowledging the same thing.
This connection was becoming real.
Not fan-and-idol real.
Person-to-person real.
And maybe that’s why it scared both of them equally.
The typing bubble appeared again.
Then another message came.
> “But somehow… I don’t want it to stop.”
Silence filled in her room instantly.
She looked down at the screen while her heartbeat slowly softened into something unfamiliar.
Not excitement.
Not obsession.
Just warmth.
Quiet warmth.
The kind that enters slowly before she even realize her heart has already made space for someone.
Outside, thunder echoed softly again.
But strangely…
She didn’t feel emotionally restless tonight.
Because somehow— for the first time in a very long while— someone’s presence was starting to feel less like chaos…
and more like peace.
