The moment Xu Lang stepped into the deep mountains, his entire demeanor changed.

His previously casual gaze sharpened like that of an eagle.

From the wind came the faint scent of freshly snapped grass.

On a small patch of soil, there was half of a blurred footprint.

On a piece of tree bark, a few strands of gray fur remained.

These traces, meaningless to ordinary people, quickly formed a clear picture in Xu Lang’s mind. The running path of a wild rabbit, its size, and even the time it had left could all be deduced to within fifteen minutes.

The feeling was indescribably wonderful.

He did not rush to chase it, instead following the traces at a steady, unhurried pace.

Before long, behind a patch of bushes, he spotted a gray rabbit gnawing on grass roots.

Xu Lang stopped in his tracks. Without hesitation, he flicked his wrist.

The sharpened wooden spear on his back shot out like an arrow released from a bow, slicing through the air with a sharp whistle!

“Thud!”

A dull, muffled sound followed.

The rabbit did not even have time to make a sound. Its body stiffened instantly, pinned firmly to the ground by the wooden spear. It twitched twice, then went still.

Killed in a single strike.

Xu Lang walked forward, casually pulled out the spear, and lifted the still-bleeding rabbit.

Done.

He weighed it in his hand. This rabbit was at least 1.5 to 2 kilograms, nice and fat.

At that moment, his ears twitched slightly.

From a patch of grass not far away came a faint rustling sound.

Xu Lang’s gaze sharpened. He drew another wooden spear and threw it backward in a smooth motion!

“Ji!”

A short, sharp cry sounded as another gray rabbit sprang out of the grass, pierced clean through, and rolled onto the ground.

Two of them.

Xu Lang’s luck was quite good.

He wandered around the area a bit more and soon discovered a bird’s nest on the branch of an old locust tree.

In just a few moves, he climbed up and retrieved five or six dull-gray bird eggs from inside.

A fruitful harvest.

…

Inside the thatched hut, the atmosphere was somewhat heavy.

The four women sat around the small wooden table, none of them speaking.

The meal had long been prepared, just a thin wild vegetable porridge. Although there was cured meat in the jar, Hua Yourong felt they should be frugal and not indulge at every meal.

After all, there were five people in the household now.

The chopsticks were neatly arranged on the table, and all four women were waiting for Xu Lang to return.

“It’s… it’s been so long. Why hasn’t Husband come back yet?”

Xia Zhiruo’s small face turned pale as she anxiously glanced toward the door. “Could something have happened to him?”

Murong Yanran scolded coldly, but the way she clenched the corner of her clothes until her knuckles turned white betrayed her inner anxiety.

That fool insisted on going hunting!

If she had known, she should have gone with him.

Li Xiuzhi was even more at a loss. With her hands clasped together, she kept muttering prayers for Xu Lang under her breath.

Only Hua Yourong remained relatively calm. She gently comforted them, “Husband is blessed with good fortune. Nothing will happen to him.”

Even so, the worry in her eyes could not be hidden.

At that moment, a figure appeared at the doorway.

“I’m back.”

Xu Lang’s voice sounded like heavenly music.

The four women turned their heads at once. When they saw what Xu Lang was holding, they all froze.

In his left hand, he carried two plump wild rabbits. In his right hand, he held several bird eggs. A relaxed smile hung on his face, as if he had merely gone out for a stroll.

“Ah! Rabbits! Husband caught rabbits!”

Xia Zhiruo was the first to cry out, like a joyful little sparrow as she rushed forward, hugging Xu Lang’s arm and jumping excitedly.

Hua Yourong and Li Xiuzhi also gathered around, their beautiful eyes filled with shock and ecstasy as they looked at the two still-bleeding rabbits.

This was meat!

In a time when even grass roots were scarce, these two rabbits were more precious than gold.

Li Xiuzhi looked at Xu Lang, her eyes shining with admiration.

Xu Lang was too amazing!

In the village, the hunter Zhao Erhu would be considered lucky if he managed to catch even one rabbit in a whole day.

Yet Xu Lang had only been gone for a short while and had already brought back two!

Murong Yanran stood frozen in place, her mind blank.

She looked at the rabbits, then at Xu Lang’s calm and effortless demeanor, her heart in turmoil.

How many more surprises did this man still have that she did not know about?

“Husband! Are we eating rabbit meat tonight?”

Xia Zhiruo shook Xu Lang’s arm, practically drooling.

Xu Lang flicked her nose lightly and shook his head.

“The rabbits aren’t for eating.”

He smiled, “They’re for building a house.”

…

Late at night.

The bed was still the same old wooden plank. All four women had flushed faces, and none of them spoke.

Li Xiuzhi felt especially conflicted.

She had just married in. According to custom, tonight… tonight she should be the one to serve her husband.

But with so many people…

How was she supposed to say it?

She could feel Murong Yanran beside her breathing rapidly, clearly still awake.

Just as Li Xiuzhi was caught between embarrassment and hesitation, nearly fainting from shyness, Xu Lang suddenly turned over. New chapters come out on g.com first.

In the darkness, he seemed to sense Li Xiuzhi’s awkwardness, as well as Murong Yanran’s gaze from the other side that was practically murderous.

He suddenly let out a light chuckle and spoke lazily, “I haven’t shared a bridal night with Zhiruo and Yanran yet. Xiuzhi, you’ll have to wait your turn…”

Boom!

The words exploded in the minds of the four women like thunder.

Hua Yourong instantly buried her face in her chest. Xia Zhiruo let out a small gasp. Li Xiuzhi was so embarrassed she nearly fainted.

Murong Yanran’s face flushed bright red to her ears, both ashamed and furious, wishing she could kick this shameless rogue off the bed.

Xu Lang said nothing more, only letting out a quiet laugh.

After dinner, Hua Yourong helped Xu Lang take measurements, planning to make him a set of clothes first, then one for herself… and then for the other three sisters.

Xu Lang stood still, raising his arms.

Feeling Hua Yourong’s soft hands moving across his body, sometimes pausing, sometimes wandering.

Was this really measuring?

Well, it was… but being full of youthful vigor, it did not take long for his thoughts to drift.

Before long, the measuring somehow ended up on the bed.

The unreliable wooden bed creaked “creak, creak” throughout the night once again.

“This…”

Li Xiuzhi felt completely numb. Her body was tense, as if countless ants were crawling inside her heart.

Then a pair of arms suddenly wrapped around her.

It was Xia Zhiruo, her face flushed red.

Looking to the side, Murong Yanran was gritting her teeth in frustration.

…

Early the next morning.

Xu Lang stepped out of the thatched hut feeling refreshed and full of energy.

Hua Yourong had no strength left to even be upset. She felt that her husband had endless stamina.

On the bed beside her, Murong Yanran, Xia Zhiruo, and Li Xiuzhi all had dark circles under their eyes, completely lacking energy. It was obvious they had not slept at all.

Not only had they not slept, they had been thoroughly tormented.

Who would have thought that the first victims of his enhanced constitution would be his own wives?

Xu Lang took it all in, feeling extremely satisfied, but said nothing. After breakfast, he went out.

On the street.

Xu Lang boldly carried the two dead rabbits in his hand and walked to the large locust tree in the center of the village.

Many starving villagers were gathered there, sitting weakly in the sunlight with hollow eyes.

Xu Lang cleared his throat, his voice ringing across the small square.

“Everyone, listen up!”

“Today, anyone willing to help me build a house will be fed!”

“Not only that, there will be rabbit meat to eat! And tonight, there will be wild vegetable and bird egg soup… it won’t be enough to fill you completely, but everyone will get a share!”

As soon as his words fell, the entire square fell into deathly silence.

All those numb, dying eyes instantly focused on him.

Then, they locked onto the two plump rabbits in his hands.

In the next moment, everyone went mad.
