Chapter 6: The blessing of the gods.

In Another World as My Waifu #1: Brave New World and the Fallen Prince(ss)

The people of the world I created know me by many names and many, many faces. Some are similar to my one true self, while others simply describe but a part of me. Yet, for those very people, I am both a matter of debate and a justification to spill blood. But that is not their fault. None of it is, for they do not know what has been forgotten.

There was a time when I was immature and forceful. I had created a world filled with many different beings, all capable of free thought and feeling, and yet… I did not know what to do with them. I was brash, foolish, emotional, to the point that I unwittingly pushed them onto the path that I wished for them to avoid.

And when I tried to fix it by using my powers, I abused them. I erased those who were problematic in an exemplary manner, making a show for all to see. I unleashed calamities untold, cataclysms unknown, and monsters unseen to force them, to make them understand what the right path was to walk on.

It did not work as I intended. Not at all. Instead, my actions became a toxic influence on the beings I created. One that I foolishly encouraged by making yet another mistake. Like my friend, the Goddess Nerinne, I tried to talk to them, but it backfired horribly.

My words were deliberately misinterpreted by the one I thought to be worthy of my trust and used them for their own means, turning them into the justifications they needed to commit many, many bloody acts. And the influence of those words can still be felt to this day.

Those people… My children all… I made them to be free, only to then try and chain them. It is obvious that they would stray, that they would hurt the world I made for them just as I hurt them. As a result, the damage from that is something that makes even other gods weep to this day, for they see in my world a possible future for their own.

Sadly, such a thing is common, given that many of us share the same ideas for the beings we end up creating, as it is more efficient that way. Although, it is not a rule nor an obligation, much less a law. Take the world of my friend, for example. Arte is populated by various humanoid species capable of rational and emotional thought just like my world, Earth, once did in a now forgotten time. For the most part, they coexist with one another while taking care of the world they live in. On the other hand, Earth was different. Rather than coexist with them, Humanity blamed them for the calamities, the cataclysms, the monsters, everything, and attacked them. Thus, guided by the greed and the vicious way of thinking my hubris created, they… they exterminated every other race.

The Refulgent Wars, they called them. Wars waged in one of my many names using my words as justification for their acts. I tried to intervene, but once again, my acts were willingly misinterpreted, and my words misheard, twisted to fit their narrative. And so, the world that once had known various races turned into a world that was dominated by just one. The balance was thrown out, lopsided…

Meanwhile, magic went from being a vibrant aspect of the world, to one on its death throes. And I… I was left with no other choice but to watch from afar. It was only then that I realized that it was too late to guide them to a different path.

But there was still some hope left. As it is bound to happen with freedom, different voices started to come up from inside of humanity. Some got free from the way of thinking my foolishness had birthed and found the truth in my words. It was beautiful. Change. A force that even I, Yawue, could not stop.

In these recent years, I have seen so much progress, so much growth, that my hope for a different path has been reignited. And maybe, after some more centuries, I will be able to tell the remnants of those who were exterminated that it is safe to go back to the surface. That they would be accepted, and even loved so dearly that it could erase those horrible memories. Hopefully.

But why is it that I, a God who seemed to have given up on his creations, would think like that?

Because of the existence of a certain group of people.

Those who are also known as nerds, otakus and so on.

I believe they hold the key to coexistence with different beings.

Because if just one of them can coexist with a Goddess, a being so categorically different from him, to the point that such interaction clearly influences her, then I can believe that those who are similar to him will bring us that future.

Now if only those same two would notice my presence already… It has been an hour since my return… I suppose that I will have to say something…

“I died ready.”

“Is that so? And here I thought it was an accident, Auros. To think that you planned all of this…what would your grandmother think?”

“Wha—?!”

“Ya-Yawue?! Since when?!”

Ye-Yes! What Nerinne asked! Also, I didn’t mean it like that, Yawue! It just fit the scene perfectly! I had to say it!

“Heh, I know, Auros. I jest. As for your question, I’ve been here for about an hour.”

“Eh?” Shocked Goddess is very shocked. I mean, it’s understandable, I too am very shocked. After all, we were about to summon him only to find out that he was already there. But, compared to me, the mere soul of a mortal that is already incapable of sensing Gods by default, Nerinne is a Goddess, and that means that this is not supposed to happen, which explains why she’s still very shocked. “Of course I am!”

“Well my friend, judging by the state of the room”–he sighed after having glanced at the room he left us in, and I so want to hide right now–“you were simply too absorbed into what you were doing that you did not notice. Although, I know the blame does not fall solely on you.” Aaaaand he just looked at me. Of course God would know that it is my fault the room looks like the altar of some nerd. I'M SORRY!! I GOT CARRIED AWAY! Should I try the legendary bowing method known as dogeza?! Would it work even though I’m not Japanese?! What should I do?!

"Calm down, Auros. I was just… surprised. There is nothing to apologize for."

"O-ok..." Phew… I thought I was a goner. Wait… I'm already dead.

"It seems you enjoyed your time with Auros, Nerinne." Moving on from me, God brought the Goddess out of her shocked state with a few words, and she quickly gathered herself.

"Y-yes. Indeed. It was quite fun and interesting. If I were to use his words, we clicked well with each other."

"I cannot doubt that after what I saw."

I am so embarrassed right now… Since he said that he has been here for an hour, that means that he… that he saw the whole thing about me taking the Goddess route and the promise we made to each other to go further once I get a body. I know that God sees all and that one shouldn't be embarrassed but… yeah, definitely embarrassed.

"There is nothing for you to be embarrassed about, Auros. Gods and Goddesses involving themselves with mortals romantically is a story as old as the beings involved." That’s sweet. Nerinne tried to make me not feel embarrassed… and I guess she is right, but I just can't help feeling the way I feel, after all I am but the soul of a mortal.

"It is natural. But you did choose this path, so you better grow accustomed to it, Auros." Said Yawue as he looked at me with a serious expression on his face. He even sounded like a father-in-law telling me to not fuck the relationship with his precious daughter up. I of course instantly gulped and answered in the best, most respectful way possible.

"... Yes, God. I will try my best." Nerinne giggled at my reaction to God's words. This Goddess has fun with lots of things I tell you...

"Then, shall we begin?"

"Yes. Auros, please walk into the magic circle that just appeared and stand on its center."

I did as Nerinne told me and walked into the magical circle. Oh! Now that I am in the center it has begun moving.

"In accordance with divine law, I, Yawue, bestow my divine protection as compensation for the act of ending a life sooner than it was meant to," said God as he extended his hand towards me from which a white light came out and covered me completely. "It shall protect you from extra-dimensional attacks and provide you with high luck, all so that your new life lasts longer."

"In accordance with divine law, I, Nerinne, bestow my divine protection as part of the compensation for the act of ending a life sooner than it was meant to," declared the Goddess Nerinne as she did the same as God and extended her hand towards me. But rather than white, the light that comes out of it and covers me is light blue. "It shall give you the ability to understand all the languages of the races, as well as all the mystical languages and the divine tongue. Making it possible for us to speak with each other, like here." The Goddess smiles and I respond in kind. She already gave me lots of powers and skills, so her divine protection goes more to the side of us being in a relationship. Wa-wait, I forgot to ask about the hard drive!

"Don't worry about that. I already took care of it."

Ah, thank you very much, God! But there is one more thing! God! Answer my question!! WHO IS BESTO GIRL?!

"Heh." Wait… Was that a knowing chuckle?! "I apologize but I can't tell you that."

That smug look…HE REALLY KNOWS!!! AT LEAST TELL ME!!! COME ON!

"Now close your eyes, Auros, son of my world. May your path lead you to happiness." He ignored me and simply moved on. So sad… Nerinne is almost cackling. Well, I had to try...

"And awaken in a new world. My world. Let us enjoy your time there."

Even with my eyes closed, I can feel the warmth in the words of both Gods and of course her love. Nerinne, I will do my best so let's have fun.

To be continued... (cue epic song of the soundtrack sold in 4 volumes with 4 songs each for $79.99!)

Glossary Entry #4:

Besto Girl: Way of writing ‘Best Girl’ in forums and online interactions to determine which character is the ‘Best Girl’. One that is perfect in their way of taking care, protecting, helping, and supporting other characters. Yes, I did not specify that the character must be female, because that is not a must. Any character can be ‘Best Girl’ for anyone. Speedwagon from JoJo is a good example of ‘Best Girl’ without needing to a be a ‘Girl’. Although ‘Best Boi’ is also a thing, so it is not absolute.

Author's Note: Thank you for reading everyone! I hope you have enjoyed the first 6 chapters of my story! Starting from chapter 7 I will be uploading 2 chapters daily. Please look forward for them!
