Ye Bai thought about what would happen if Kingpin died and realized that what Kingpin had said did indeed make sense.
As the current underground emperor, Kingpin’s death would certainly throw the underground world of the Big Apple into chaos.
Once those violent criminals of the underworld were no longer restrained by any rules, trouble was bound to follow.
Ye Bai wasn’t afraid of those people, but they would still be a nuisance.
Therefore, Ye Bai indeed had no intention of killing Kingpin for the time being.
“You’re very smart.
You’ve successfully convinced me.”
“I hope you remember what you said today and don’t come looking for trouble again.”
“Otherwise, next time, I’ll twist your head off.
I mean what I say.
And don’t doubt whether I can find you.
As long as you’re on Earth, you won’t be able to escape me.”
It was a very direct threat, and also a warning to Kingpin.
Whether Kingpin believed him was his own business.
If he didn’t, Ye Bai would simply carry out his threat and twist his head off.
How could Kingpin possibly not believe him?
The man had just punched through two meters of steel plating.
Did Kingpin dare doubt him?
Kingpin certainly didn’t think his body was tougher than steel.
Hearing that Ye Bai was willing to give him another chance, Kingpin finally relaxed like a man who had narrowly escaped death.
At the same time, he made up his mind that even if he had to kill himself, he absolutely would never provoke Ye Bai and his wife again.
Not only that, Kingpin also planned to station a large number of people around Ye Bai’s estate, just in case some fool tried to offend this god of slaughter.
It could be said that by sparing Kingpin, Ye Bai had not only achieved his own goal but also eliminated many potential problems.
With Kingpin’s help, at the very least, those insignificant characters would never be able to cause Ye Bai any trouble.
Any mobsters planning to kidnap Ye Bai wouldn’t even make it to his doorstep before Kingpin threw them into the grinder to feed his dogs.
After dealing with Kingpin, Ye Bai left the underground warehouse.
Before leaving, he also took one of Kingpin’s suits.
During the earlier barrage of gunfire, Ye Bai himself hadn’t suffered the slightest injury, but his clothes had been shredded.
That was the price of showing off.
Only after watching that god of slaughter finally leave did Kingpin breathe a sigh of relief.
He dropped heavily onto the floor and gasped for breath.
It had been terrifying.
Facing a monster like Ye Bai was simply too frightening.
Kingpin was already a notoriously fearless man, yet even he had been scared pale.
If an ordinary person had been in his position, they might have literally been frightened to death.
Fortunately, he had managed to survive.
After a long while, Kingpin finally calmed down, and the authority of the underground emperor returned to him.
He was going to summon his subordinates and announce an important order.
From now on, in the Big Apple, anyone who dared to oppose Ye Bai would be opposing Kingpin.

“Why did you come back so late today?”
As the sun was setting, Ye Bai finally returned to his estate.
Hela was already awake and complained when she saw Ye Bai, looking exactly like a wife grumbling about her husband coming home late.
“The book signing ended, and then I had dinner with the publisher.
It took some extra time.”
Ye Bai told a harmless lie because he didn’t want Hela to worry too much.
After all, a man shouldn’t bring the troubles and turmoil of the outside world back home, much less make his wife worry about him.
Hela didn’t think much of it.
She had only asked out of habit.
Now that Ye Bai had the divine artifact ring she had created for him, and the culprit, Kingpin, had already been dealt with, she wasn’t particularly worried about Ye Bai’s safety.
“Let me ask you something.
If one day you discovered that I’m not the person you think you know, what would you do?”
Hela suddenly asked a question that seemed to come out of nowhere, leaving Ye Bai somewhat stunned.
But when he saw the anticipation and unease in Hela’s eyes, his heart softened.
“Silly girl.
I like you because you’re you.
No matter what kind of person you are, I’ll still like you.”
Ye Bai walked over to Hela, stroked her hair, and smiled as he spoke.
The intimate gesture immediately caused Hela’s face to flush again.
She still wasn’t accustomed to such affectionate actions.
But she didn’t resist.
She was simply shy.
“If one day you discovered that I’m a bad person, would you still like me?”
Hela ignored the hand messing up her hair and looked at Ye Bai as she asked another question that could only have a dangerous answer.
Ye Bai didn’t respond immediately.
Instead, he vaguely felt that Hela seemed somewhat different today.
He couldn’t put his finger on exactly what it was.
It simply felt as though something was weighing on her mind.
Ye Bai moved the hand that had been playing with Hela’s hair and wrapped his arms around her waist.
“You’re my wife.
Even if you’re a bad person, you’re still my wife.
No matter what you become, I’ll still love you.”
Ye Bai whispered softly beside Hela’s ear.
His warm breath brushed against her earlobe, making it visibly turn red.
“Annoying!”
Hela struggled half-heartedly, but soon closed her eyes and simply let Ye Bai hold her.
It was already getting late, so they should probably go upstairs and rest first.

The Helicarrier, S.H.I.E.L.D.
Natasha had returned to her usual icy demeanor, putting away the fangirl-like expression she had shown in front of Ye Bai.
She quickly entered Nick Fury’s office and began her report.
“My first contact with the target didn’t produce much progress.
I’m not his type.”
The target Natasha was referring to was naturally Ye Bai.
Natasha had approached Ye Bai under Nick Fury’s orders.
Otherwise, she wouldn’t even have known who Ye Bai was.
“That’s normal.
According to our investigation, Ye Bai and his wife have a very good relationship.
He’s a devoted husband.”
Nick Fury spoke confidently, unsurprised by the result of Natasha’s first attempt.
Before making contact with Ye Bai, Nick Fury had naturally conducted a thorough investigation.
As Ye Bai’s wife, Hela had naturally been investigated as well.
What puzzled Nick Fury was that he couldn’t find any information about Hela.
All he knew was that Hela had suddenly appeared beside Ye Bai roughly a year ago, as though she had simply fallen from the sky.
This made Nick Fury wonder about Hela’s true identity.
Had she really met Ye Bai by coincidence, or had another organization placed her beside him?
The former would be fine.
The latter, however, was something Nick Fury would have to take seriously.
“So why didn’t you have Coulson handle this?”
“Why did you have to send me?
Were you trying to get me to ruin the relationship between the target and his wife?”
“I don’t remember S.H.I.E.L.D.
being in charge of divorce cases.”
Natasha complained.
To this day, she still couldn’t understand what exactly Nick Fury had been thinking when he sent her to approach Ye Bai.
Hearing Natasha’s complaint, Nick Fury almost coughed from embarrassment.
It was indeed awkward.
But Natasha wasn’t wrong.
He had genuinely considered having Natasha seduce Ye Bai, preferably to the point where Ye Bai couldn’t live without her.
Compared with Hela, a woman whose background was completely unknown, Ye Bai’s wife being someone Natasha, whom S.H.I.E.L.D.
knew thoroughly, would obviously be more reassuring.
It would also be more beneficial to S.H.I.E.L.D.
Of course, Nick Fury couldn’t force something like that.
Ultimately, it would still depend on what Natasha herself was willing to do.
As for Hela, if possible, Nick Fury also wanted to make contact with her and probe her background.
