While Ye Bai was dealing with the mobsters, his seaside estate was also receiving a group of uninvited guests.
To obtain the enormous fortune tied to Ye Bai, Kingpin had devised a comprehensive plan.
The first step was to target Ye Bai.
The second was to target Hela.
Kingpin believed that as long as he got Hela into his hands, Ye Bai would have no choice but to submit.
Kingpin’s idea was correct, but he had overlooked one thing: Hela was not an ordinary person.
After the assassins sent by Kingpin eliminated the bodyguards around the estate, Hela, who had originally been asleep, suddenly opened her eyes.
Those bodyguards had naturally been arranged by Ye Bai.
He didn’t need bodyguards himself, but that didn’t mean Hela didn’t need them.
The entire purpose of having those bodyguards was to protect Hela.
Unfortunately, compared with the assassins sent by Kingpin, those bodyguards were still far too inexperienced.
By the time the assassins overcame the bodyguards and broke into the estate, Hela had already gotten out of bed and arrived in the living room.
“Hurry up.
The police will be here in ten minutes.
Let’s move faster.”
One of Kingpin’s assassins urged the others.
Kingpin had enormous influence throughout the Big Apple and had connections with many politicians.
He even had people within the police department.
However, even Kingpin could only delay the police rather than prevent them from coming altogether.
That was why the assassins were under pressure as well.
If they failed to capture Hela before the time was up, the operation would be considered a failure.
No one would want to experience the consequences of failure.
With a bang, a miniature bomb blew open the gate of Ye Bai’s estate, and numerous assassins poured inside.
They had originally expected Hela to find somewhere to hide, but she was sitting on the living room sofa, coldly watching them.
“Looks like Ye Bai got himself into some trouble outside.”
Hela thought this to herself, but she didn’t pay much attention to it.
This was only Midgard.
How much trouble could he possibly have gotten into?
At worst, she could reveal her identity and turn all of Midgard upside down.
“We found the target.
Hurry up and take her away.”
Kingpin’s assassins hadn’t expected things to go so smoothly.
Their target was sitting right in front of them.
After only a brief moment of stunned silence, they quickly came to their senses and prepared to take Hela away.
One assassin couldn’t restrain himself and hurried toward Hela first, drawing curses from the assassins around him who had been a step too slow.
If they managed to capture Hela, it would definitely be a great accomplishment.
Unfortunately, someone else had gotten there first.
The assassin who reached Hela first was inwardly ecstatic.
He could almost see his glorious future ahead of him.
Hela merely shook her head, set down the coffee cup in her hand, and straightened her body.
Then a pitch-black “Night Sky Sword” was flung from Hela’s hand.
While the assassin was still immersed in visions of his bright future, the “Night Sky Sword” had already pierced through his chest.
The sudden turn of events left everyone stunned.
Under their frozen gazes, Hela slowly rose to her feet, carrying an air of classical elegance and dignity.
“Pathetic mortals dare attempt to harm a god.
Death is too good for you!”
Hela spoke calmly, but her words pronounced the fate of the assassins.
The assassins finally reacted, fear appearing in every one of their eyes.
“Mutant!!!”
Yes, in the eyes of these assassins, Hela’s abilities were clearly those of a mutant.
Remembering how powerful mutants could be, the assassins panicked.
At that moment, they no longer cared about the order to capture Hela alive.
They all raised their firearms and aimed them at her.
So what if she was a mutant?
Under their overwhelming firepower, she would still have only one path: death.
Hela, however, regarded these firearms as little more than toys.
With a casual wave of her hand, several more “Night Sky Swords” flew out.
Several more assassins were killed by the Night Sky Swords.
The efficiency of the slaughter was utterly horrifying.
The assassins could no longer control their fear and began firing at Hela.
But when the bullets reached Hela, they seemed to collide with an invisible wall and froze in place right in front of her.
“Boring.”
Hela spoke indifferently, then sent dozens more “Night Sky Swords” flying.
Like the sharpest scythes wielded by the Grim Reaper, they precisely reaped every life in the room.
This time, the assassins were completely terrified.
They no longer had the courage to remain there.
Their hearts were filled with panic and unease.
In their eyes, Hela wasn’t human at all.
She was a terrifying devil that had crawled out of Hell.
Yet in front of Hela, no one could escape, and no one could survive.
In the end, every assassin who had entered the estate was killed by the “Night Sky Swords.”
Hela didn’t bother looking at these mortals anymore.
After stretching lazily, she gracefully returned to her room.
Before leaving, however, Hela raised her right hand and brought her clean, slender middle finger and thumb together before snapping her fingers.
The next moment, the bodies of the assassins pinned down by the “Night Sky Swords” began to dissipate one after another, until not even the slightest trace remained.
For now, Hela had no intention of telling Ye Bai her identity.
Once she reclaimed the throne of Asgard, it wouldn’t be too late to reveal everything to Ye Bai.
····
Ye Bai had no idea that his estate had already been attacked by Kingpin’s assassins.
At that moment, he had just walked out of a supermarket, several bags of fresh ingredients in his hands.
It was a habit of Ye Bai’s to choose his own ingredients.
Otherwise, given his wealth, any ingredient in the world could be delivered to him in the shortest possible time with just a single word.
“I bought an extra chicken to help Hela regain some strength.
She’s too thin.”
Ye Bai thought to himself.
Hela’s features and figure were both perfect, and she even had a delicate, elegant collarbone.
Her only flaw was that she was a little too slender and didn’t have much flesh on her.
She looked beautiful, but hugging her could be a little uncomfortable because she was so bony.
Besides, being too thin could make the body prone to weakness.
Hela was already injured, so she needed to be properly nourished.
Ye Bai had absolutely no idea that the Hela he saw as delicate, soft, and easy to push over was actually a bona fide Goddess of Death.
If Hela’s former enemies heard Ye Bai’s assessment of her, they would probably cry tears of frustration.
How was she weak?
How was she fragile?
Did he know that back then, she could slaughter an entire planet by herself as easily as cutting grass, without even blinking?
And you call someone like that delicate, soft, and easy to push over?
Was there something wrong with you, or was there something wrong with me?
Ye Bai restarted his sports car and prepared to head home, completely unaware that he had already attracted the attention of numerous people.
Discussions concerning Ye Bai and his wife had already begun somewhere on Earth.
Thirty thousand meters above the ground, aboard the Helicarrier of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Nick Fury lowered the phone from his ear.
