Back at the seaside estate, Ye Bai returned to the living room after seeing Coulson off.

Hela had also woken up by then and was slowly making her way down the stairs.

Today, she was wearing a long black dress.Full novel: In Marvel: My Wife Is Hela, the Goddess of Death — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

With one hand lightly lifting the hem, she descended one step at a time, graceful and elegant like a classical lady.

She resembled a black lotus quietly blooming in the dark of night, an enchanting sight to behold.

“Did we have a guest just now?”

Hela asked, clearly aware that someone had come by.

“Not a guest.

Just a troublesome guy.

I’ve already sent him away.”

Ye Bai didn’t hide the fact, but he didn’t explain Coulson’s exact identity either.

Hela nodded without asking further.

She came to the dining table, sat down, and began enjoying breakfast.

Breakfast was very simple today, just ordinary boiled noodles.

Besides that, Ye Bai had added some expensive medicinal ingredients to the noodles, intending to give Hela a little extra nourishment.

Ye Bai had once received the reward “Little Chef’s Culinary Expertise.” In terms of cooking alone, there was probably no one on Earth who could match him.

Therefore, even something as simple as noodles carried an irresistible aroma when prepared by Ye Bai.

Hela gently picked up a few strands of noodles with her chopsticks and tasted them, closing her eyes in satisfaction and nodding.

Ye Bai’s cooking was also one of the important reasons Hela liked him.

Hela had never been particularly fond of food, but Ye Bai was gradually turning her into a genuine foodie.

“Did you get yourself into some trouble outside?”

As she slurped her noodles, Hela asked Ye Bai.

“No.

I haven’t broken any laws, so what trouble could I possibly get into?”

Ye Bai immediately denied it.

He didn’t want Hela to know what had happened outside.

It was only the mob, after all.

He could handle it himself.

“I see.

Then be careful when you’re out.”

Hela didn’t press the matter.

She knew Ye Bai was keeping quiet because he didn’t want her to worry, so she had no intention of asking further.

Instead, she took out a black ring and placed it in front of Ye Bai.

“Take this and keep it with you.

That way, I’ll feel more at ease.”

Hela didn’t explain much.

She also didn’t tell Ye Bai that the ring had been condensed from her divine power and could withstand a single attack from a Skyfather-level powerhouse.

She had specifically prepared it to protect him.

“This is the first time you’ve ever given me something.

I’ll take good care of it.”

Ye Bai didn’t ask any questions either.

He simply picked up the ring and slipped it onto his ring finger.

In Ye Bai’s eyes, the ring was probably similar to a good-luck charm.

He assumed Hela had specifically prayed for it to keep him safe, and that its main purpose was simply to give him peace of mind.

In reality, Hela had spent a tremendous amount of divine power creating it.

Even in Asgard, it would be considered a divine artifact.

Just as Ye Bai worried about Hela’s safety, Hela worried about Ye Bai’s safety as well.

After all, in Hela’s eyes, Ye Bai was merely an ordinary mortal.

An ordinary mortal who happened to have won her heart.

Knowing how fragile mortals were, Hela had specifically created this divine artifact ring because she didn’t want anything to happen to Ye Bai.

“Perhaps I should start thinking about how to turn Ye Bai into a god.”

Hela thought to herself.

With the ring she had prepared for him, Ye Bai would basically have nothing to fear in a small place like Midgard.

But mortal lifespans had limits.

Hela had no choice but to consider how she could extend Ye Bai’s lifespan.

Hela was greedy.

She didn’t merely want Ye Bai to accompany her for a hundred years.

She wanted him to stay by her side forever.

“I’ve finished eating.

I’ll go upstairs and rest first.”

Since the idea of turning Ye Bai into a god couldn’t be realized for the time being, Hela didn’t mention it.

Instead, she planned to go upstairs and rest as usual.

“All right.

I have a book signing today, so I need to go out for a while.

I might be back a little late.”

“For lunch, just call Aunt Liu and have her come over to make something.”

Ye Bai nodded and told her about his plans as well.

Aunt Liu was the housekeeper Ye Bai had hired.

She was quite good at making Sichuan cuisine, although she rarely had the chance to cook.

“I understand.

Be careful when you’re outside.”

Hela’s tone remained cold as usual.

That was simply her personality.

Moments as passionate as the previous night were, after all, rare.

Ye Bai was already used to it.

After clearing away the dishes from the table, he drove away.

What he didn’t know was that on the second floor of the estate, Hela stood beside the window of the master bedroom, watching him leave.

“The mortal who wanted to harm Ye Bai is named Kingpin, isn’t he?”

Hela spoke softly, but the tenderness she showed in front of Ye Bai was gone from her eyes.

In its place was a chilling killing intent.

Although Ye Bai hadn’t told Hela anything, she naturally had her own ways of finding out.

After learning that a mortal named Kingpin was targeting Ye Bai, Hela decided to do something about it.

Ye Bai was her man.

If anyone was going to bully him, only she was allowed to do so.

What right did a mere mortal have?

After confirming that Ye Bai had left the estate and wouldn’t be returning anytime soon, Hela disappeared from the room as well.

····

Inside Kingpin’s skyscraper.

Kingpin couldn’t figure it out no matter how hard he tried.

He had no idea what special identity Ye Bai possessed.

The feeling left him deeply frustrated.

He was the underground emperor.

When had he ever been this confused?

Not even knowing who his opponent was was an awful situation for someone like Kingpin, who liked to keep everything under his control.

And for some reason, Kingpin felt an intense sense of danger in his heart, as though some terrifying existence was about to descend upon him.

That made Kingpin even more uneasy.

After mobilizing a large number of assassins to protect him, he finally relaxed somewhat and regained a little sense of security.

Then, a woman dressed in a long black dress broke into the building.

Kingpin watched helplessly through the surveillance footage as his men were effortlessly defeated by the woman, unable to put up any meaningful resistance.

“Who is this woman?

Why did she suddenly break in and attack my people?”

Even if Kingpin racked his brain, he couldn’t figure out when he had provoked such a terrifying woman.

His assassins had undergone rigorous training and were elite enough to rival military forces.

Yet in the hands of this terrifying woman, they were completely outmatched.

Without a doubt, the woman who had suddenly broken into Kingpin’s building was Hela.

Through the souls of the assassins, Hela had learned of Kingpin’s existence and had immediately come straight to him.

This was Hela’s true style.

The tsundere Hela who seemed easy to push around in front of Ye Bai was simply the side of herself she showed him.

The real Hela was the Goddess of Death, a ruthless figure who had spread death and slaughter throughout the universe.

With a thunderous crash, Hela kicked open the door to Kingpin’s room.

His remaining men were already down.

Hela had moved too quickly for Kingpin to escape.

She had caught him right where he was.

“So you’re Kingpin.”

After entering the room, Hela immediately spotted the bald, overweight man and knew she had found the person she was looking for.

A “Night Sky Sword” appeared in Hela’s hand, and she raised it toward Kingpin, ready to end the matter.
