Once I arrived, I was exposed to the tragic sight of Aizawa being pinned beneath the Nomu, bleeding, his arm broken, with Shigaraki extending his palm towards his face and Kurogiri standing beside them.
‘ Shit, I took too much time helping others! That also means All Might could be here at any moment. I have to finish this quickly.’
As Shigaraki was talking, I took the chance and used the paralysis scream to immobilise everyone in the vicinity before his palm could touch Aizawa.
The black ghost ran towards Shigaraki
His hand turned into a sharp claw, going directly for Shigaraki's wrists and ankles,
a small smirk tugged at my lips when I saw his bodies fall to the ground.
“Oh, it seems like I made it just in time. Here you can add this to your collection.”
I said, picking up Shigaraki's cut hand and throwing it back as I walked toward Aizawa to check his injury.
Once I confirmed that he was alright,
I turned my attention to the remaining villains who had been swarming Aizawa.
At the back, I could also see Midoriya immobilised like the rest, with an expression of fear.
‘ Hum, seems like he also arrived here.’ I decided to ignore him for the moment and spoke to our teacher.
“Sorry, Sensei, my ability affects anyone in my vicinity. You'll have to wait for the effects to pass. It’s the first time I use the full intensity of my ability on so many people. I don't know how long the paralysis will last, so I'll go deal with the remaining villains first.”
‘ That's a lie! It's not the first time. I have enough control over my power to decide how long the paralysis lasts, and I can even stop the paralysis on anyone at will.
Take the cafeteria incident for example, Yaoyorozu didn't resist the effects just because she was covering her ear and standing behind me. No, if anything, due to our proximity she should have been the most affected; I was the one who stopped the paralysis.’
The villains were lifted one by one and slammed back into the ground.
I can crush or cut them like Shigaraki, but there are limits to the amount of injuries pro-heroes are allowed to inflict on villains. That is why I'm using just enough force to hopefully knock them out and leave them with only one or two fractures. The only one I didn't touch was Nomu.
I sighed internally. ' Even if Nomu is the perfect test subject to see how strong I am and try things I can't do to regular people, I can't risk fighting him right now, or I'll be forced to reveal too much.'
I simply leave him alone.
Once I was done, I turned toward Kurogiri; however, before the black ghost could get hold of him, a huge explosion ripped through the USJ front door.
"Huh?"
A moment later, a giant figure landed in front of me. Creating dust covering everything in sight.
Seeing this, I immediately stopped the paralysis of Kurogiri.
After the dust cleared, the figure of All Might was revealed, sporting his signature smile. As he loudly declared,
"Have no fear, everyone, for I am finally here."
Unfortunately, he didn't realize that two of the villains were now missing.
"Are you alright, young Arata?! I hope you are not hurt." All Might said while observing our surroundings.
"I'm alright, sensei, just a little tired. I'm more worried about Aizawa sensei." I replied.
"Seems like the situation here is under control. You can stay here while the other pro-heroes are coming to take care of the situation. In the meantime, I'll go help your remaining classmates."
He said after looking around for a few more seconds. Soon after, the rest of the teachers arrived along with the police to gather all the villains.
….
"I will ask again. Why did you cut Shigaraki's limbs?" A police officer was staring down at me while I stared back with a bored expression. I have been in this interrogation room for 10 minutes.
I must say. I'm really getting tired.
"Didn't I already answer that question?”
“I just wanted to stop him from hurting Aizawa sensei. Officer, shouldn't my parents or guardian be present for this?"
*SLAM*
"I'm asking the questions here, Kid!" The police officer slammed his hand on the table before yelling at me.
"Are you sure? Because if this is an interrogation and not a deposition, I need to have my legal guardian present." I responded to him in a neutral tone, not impressed by his action.
*SLAM!!*
"Shut IT!"
At that moment, Detective Naomasa entered the interrogation room.
"That's enough," Detective Naomasa said.
"B-But sir, we still haven't gotten anything", the man handling the police officer stuttered.
"And you won't get any.”
After the police had arrived to take the villains into custody. Our statements were taken, as well as those of the pro-heroes that had been present. Special attention was given to me, just because I cut a villain's limbs, giving him a severe and potentially fatal wound. A villain that, mind you, got away with another one.
‘ Yes, I let them escape, but they don't know that.’ Moreover, USJ is U.A. private property after all, so the laws restricting public usage of quirks do not apply.
Thankfully, a call from Nezu was more than enough to resolve the situation. Even if I injured a villain, with Aizawa and Thirteen present to defend my actions, they couldn't hold me for long.
Detective Naomasa nodded at me. His stern gaze was then turned into a warm smile,
"I understand. Rest assured, we will not press any charges against you. Plus, the circumstances demanded your intervention to save your teacher's life. But be warned that such actions will not be tolerated in any other circumstances. At least until you receive your provisional hero license, understand?”
“You don't have to worry, sir.”
“Good, one last thing your principal asked me to tell you: come by his office before you go home.”
“Thank you, sir.”
….
Some time after the USJ Incident concluded, I found myself again in the corridor leading to Nezu's office. This time the one present beside him was All Might, as I asked in a confused tone the reason for my presence,
"Hello, Sensei, Principal Nezu. Can I ask why I was called here? I hope I'm not in trouble?"
Nezu responded to my question in a playful tone, explaining the purpose of the meeting,
"You have nothing to fear, Arata-kun. First and foremost, I wanted to commend you for your quick responses during this Incident. I must say, I'm both grateful for your contributions and deeply regretful that you and your classmates had to endure such an ordeal. Not only did you help many classmates of yours, but you also protected your teacher. We're not even through the first week of classes, but you've already shown exceptional hero quality."
Hearing Nezu's praise, I smiled softly and was about to politely decline the compliment, but that was when All Might bowed to me, as he exclaimed in a grateful tone,
"I, too, would like to say a few words, young Arata! Please forgive me, my student, for not being present and letting you be in danger! I want to thank you for ensuring no one was seriously injured during today's incident!"
I rubbed the back of my head as I responded in a slightly embarrassed tone,
"You don't have to thank me, sensei; I just did my best to help everyone."
Nezu burst out laughing as he started clapping for me,
"You're really a wonderful young man. But we are going off-topic. The reason we called you here is to ascertain the identities and Quirks of the Villains who attacked USJ? We hope to create a profile on them before conducting the official interrogation. Ahh, that's right; you don't have to be nervous. We already received a report from your teacher. Still, it would be very helpful if you could tell us everything you know and answer some simple questions."
“I understand, principal. I'll try my best to answer your questions.”
I nod again and begin recounting the events. I stick mostly to the truth: how we were teleported, how I dealt with the villains in the mountain zone. But when I reached the fight, if you can call it that, with Shikari, I made some omission about what happened after immobilizing them. Only offering a few details about why or how the villain disappeared.
Nezu listens, his smile unchanging, his small paws folded neatly on the desk. But I can tell—he's been analyzing me from the moment I walked in.
"Thank you for your account, Arata-kun," he finally says, voice unusually serious.
"We'll do our best to ensure an incident like this never happens again."
"Thank you for listening. If that's all, I'll take my leave." Just as I turn, he stops me. Is it me, or am I having a deja-vu?
"Ah, before you go, there's just one more thing I'd like to ask. Since you can't seem to fully control your abilities, would you like to train with Present Mic? I presume it's sound-based; I think he could be of great help!" He said, his voice lighthearted
“I see… Could I think about it some more? I would really like to go home and rest for now.”
“Of course, Arata-kun, you can take your time.”
" Thank you, principal. If you'll excuse me.”
With that, I turned and left the office.
‘ I must say this has been a very exhausting day, and I intended to do absolutely nothing for the rest of it.’
