POV Cornelius
After the ceremony, my training begins. Since I belong to the nobility, I have to endure a lot of long and boring lectures. The importance of humans as the dominant race in Narran, as the world is called, was the most interesting of these. This also includes the history and geography of the Empire, the nations that belong to the Empire, the wars that were fought, and much more. On the other hand, the exercises in etiquette, courtly manners, heraldry, and so on were great for falling asleep.
The first person I met again from my old life is Eleonore. She was my second girlfriend in my old life, her name was Jessica and she was totally in love with me. She literally hung on my every word and believed everything I told her. It was a comforting and exhilarating feeling to be so important. I liked her a lot too. My many lessons include the teaching of Lumos. Lumos is the patron deity of the Empire and is worshiped monotheistically. The practice of other religions is prohibited in the empire. The other races, however, worship other deities besides Lumos. This is one of many reasons why non-humans are persecuted in the Empire. If captured, they are in most cases enslaved. Slavery against humans is forbidden in the Empire, but is widespread amoung non-humans.
Anyway, my lessons on the teachings of Lumos take place in the cathedral. The cathedral is the headquarters of Lumos worship on Narran and is also home to much of the capital's priesthood, including the Pope, the head. I have the lessons together with other nobles my age. About three weeks after the start, we spontaneously received a new addition: a very young girl in a priest's habit.
“Everyone listen up. Starting today, this young priestess will accompany you through the lessons. Welcome them warmly. Eleonore, please step forward.”
The young girl steps forward and bows slightly. When she sees me she smiles as wide as the rising sun. Wait, Eleonore? Could it be that she is my old girlfriend Ellen? She often named her characters Eleonore.
“She is placed at the side of the noble hero Cornelius. Please treat her with respect, for she is also a hero and has been chosen to accompany him on his holy mission.”
Eleonore comes up to me and sits on the bench next to me. As soon as she sits down, she grabs my arm and wraps it around her. No doubt, she's my girlfriend.
POV Eleonore
I am eternally grateful to the god Lumos. He gave me the chance to be with the love of my life again. I can't remember why we all died back then, and when I woke up in the white room, I was scared at first. I was never very religious, but being in the presence of a god was very intimidating. Especially since the god Lumos has a very bright and dominant personality. But when he explained to me that I would be reborn with my boyfriend Michael, my heart screamed for joy. I forgot everything he said before. The only thing that was important was the fact that I could be with my boyfriend again. That's why I didn't put much emphasis on generation as God Lumos said. I just took what sounded like I could use to help Michael. Just like I always did in role-playing games. Healing magic = light magic = priestess and all important decisions were made. The only stupid thing was that I had to increase my charisma with an advantage, otherwise I couldn't choose a priestess. Regardless, the most important thing is Michael and that takes precedence. The journey into a new world could begin.
My memory begins a few months before my status ceremony. I learn the most important basics of writing, the teachings of the god Lumos, magic theory, geography, history, and arithmetic. So I feel well prepared for my ceremony and the theory lessons were interesting. Unfortunately, I haven't received any information about Michael, or Cornelius, as he presumably called himself. The day of the ceremony was very eventful. There were three other candidates for the priesthood with me. The location was the cathedral, the main church in the capital city of Lichtburg. The ceremony of insight was short and this is what my status looks like:

After the check, a big commotion breaks out. The priest performing the ceremony immediately sends one of the ceremonial helpers present out of the room. The other five year olds and I just stand around confused. Then a man in his 60s enters the room, whom I identify as a cardinal by the ornamentation. He speaks briefly to the priest, then nods and turns to me. “Congratulations, priest candidate Eleonore. Our Lord Lumos has chosen you to accomplish great things. You have the title of Hero and have been blessed by Lumos. This means you are one of the children we have been waiting for for years. Come with me, I’ll explain everything to you.” I am then led out of the room and many things are explained to me. About saving the world from the demons and stuff like that, and fighting the warriors of Luna, and that I have three comrades-in-arms, one of whom has already been found. I will be introduced to him immediately because he is here right now. I'm very nervous and as soon as I enter the room my eyes fall on Michael aka. I'm beaming from ear to ear and have never been as happy as I am at this moment. I have him back and he will be mine forever. Nothing can and will separate us again.
