Morning arrived quietly over the floating continent of Drakonius.

Golden sunlight poured through the massive glass windows of the luxury guest suite, illuminating the room with a warm, ambient glow.

On the king-sized bed, Aeon lay sleeping peacefully. His body was waiting for the familiar morning knock from Terra, but as the minutes ticked past his usual waking hour, his eyes slowly blinked open.Full novel: Infinite Ascension: The Chronicles Of The Infinite One — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

His unique purple and gold eyes stared blankly at the ceiling.

For a few moments, he instinctively remained still, waiting to hear Terra’s voice through the door. But the silence lingered. It was only then that reality caught up with him, and he remembered exactly where he was.

"Hahaha, I totally forgot that this isn’t home," Aeon muttered to himself with a soft laugh. He swung his legs out of bed and walked toward the bathroom.

The bathroom itself was a vast, seamless blend of futuristic technology and high fantasy. Walking inside, he approached a bathtub that was easily the size of a small swimming pool.

Embedded in the wall nearby was a sleek interface. He tapped a prominent red button, and holographic numbers immediately flickered into view, allowing him to adjust the precise temperature of the water.

Aeon selected level two out of five. For the first time in his life, he took a morning bath completely by himself without the help of a maid.

Once finished, Aeon dressed in a pair of sharp black pants and a clean white shirt, deciding to leave his formal jacket and tie behind for a more casual look. He walked over to the nightstand and picked up a small bell.

It was a magical artifact; with just a gentle shake, it emitted a subtle frequency that could only be heard by servants stationed miles away.

Only a few seconds after he rang the bell, a polite knock echoed at the door.

Aeon set the artifact back down and called out,"Come in."

Click.

The door clicked open, and a young elf with flowing brown hair and a pristine maid outfit stepped into the room. She bowed gracefully, greeting him with a polished smile. "Good morning, Young Master Aeon. What can I do for you today, sir?"

Aeon returned her greeting with a warm, calm smile. "Good morning to you, too. I would like to have some breakfast, please."

The elf looked momentarily taken aback by his genuine politeness. Quickly regaining her professional composure, she nodded. "Certainly. What would you like to have, sir?"

Aeon thought about it for a brief second before deciding. "I’ll go with a steak."

The elf tapped the face of a device on her wrist, typing in the order before closing the holographic display. Within seconds, a blue magic circle flared to life directly on top of the small dining table, and a perfectly cooked, steaming steak materialized out of thin air.

’Fancy. Using teleportation magic just to deliver room service,’ Aeon thought to himself. No matter how many times he saw the integration of magic and technology in this world, it always managed to amaze him.

The elf bowed once more, her voice noticeably softer and more respectful because of his kind demeanor. "Now then, please enjoy your meal, Young Master."

Aeon nodded appreciatively and began to eat.

.....

After finishing his breakfast, Aeon stepped out of his suite to explore the rest of the grand palace.

The structure was incredibly vast and majestic, decorated to the absolute core with a striking mix of ancient architecture, futuristic mechanics, and fantasy aesthetics. Amazingly, this was only the outer guest section, not even the core part of the palace.

The royal residence was split into three distinct zones, each progressively more beautiful, spacious, and heavily guarded than the last.

Aeon was currently restricted to the outer zone, along with the other visiting nobles. The inner zone was reserved strictly for the descendants of the Drakonius bloodline, while the Main core held the private quarters of the Royal Family and the Imperial Throne itself.

As Aeon strolled through a scenic courtyard, he spotted a familiar head of bright red hair. A young girl was standing beside an ornamental pond, quietly watching a school of vibrant koi fish swim through the crystal-clear water.

Aeon walked over, calling out a gentle greeting when he was just a few steps away. "Hey, Sophia."

Sophia jumped slightly, her shoulders flinching in sudden panic. Her cheeks immediately flushed with a deep, frantic shyness. She recognized that voice instantly. Slowly turning around, she found Aeon standing a few feet away, looking at her with an amused expression.

"A... Ae... Aeon?" she stammered, her voice cracking as panic took over. Her face grew even redder.

Aeon didn’t tease her about it. She was always like this whenever he came around. It was incredibly rare to hear her complete a single sentence without stuttering or breaking her words apart, but he didn’t dislike it at all. In fact, he found it quite endearing. ’She really is cute when she gets like that,’ he thought.

Stepping closer, Aeon reached out and gently rubbed her head. "Good morning. Did you sleep well?"

Sophia flinched at the physical contact, her face burning so hot it felt as though steam might actually start venting from her head. She looked up at him, her reply coming out like a broken record. "G... Good morning to you too, A... Aeon. Ye.. Yes, I... I slept well. And you?"

Aeon smiled warmly, finally pulling his hand back from her soft hair. "Yeah, me too. I had a good night."

He turned his gaze back to the ornamental pond, watching the fish glide effortlessly through the water. "They’re beautiful, don’t you think?" he asked, glancing back at her.

Sophia stared intently down at her feet, lightly clutching the fabric of her dress. "Yes! T... They are."

A comfortable silence settled between them. For a few minutes, neither of them spoke a word, simply enjoying the tranquil atmosphere and each other’s quiet company.

Finally, Aeon looked back at her. "Hey, Sophia, do you want to go out and explore the floating continent with me?"

Sophia’s large eyes widened in surprise. "Ex... Explore the continent? The tw... two of us?"

Aeon smiled. "Yeah. Our parents will definitely have guards following us from the shadows anyway, so we’ll be safe. What do you think?"

Sophia looked down again, remaining silent for a long moment as she processed the invitation. Then, she spoke in a soft, quiet voice. "Okay, let’s go."

Aeon was pleasantly surprised by how smoothly she managed to finish that sentence. ’Maybe she’s finally starting to gain a bit of confidence around me,’ he noted happily.

He naturally reached out and took Sophia’s hand, leading her toward the palace’s transport bay. As they walked, he spoke a command aloud to the artificial intelligence linked to his wristwatch. "Airis, call my father."

A crisp, female synthesized voice replied immediately, "Certainly, Master."

Within moments, the line connected. Aeon quickly informed his father that he and Sophia were heading out together to see the sights of the floating continent.

Upon arriving at the guest parking lot, they selected a high-end flying car. The autonomous vehicle drove itself flawlessly the moment they settled into the comfortable back seats. Soon, the vehicle glided past the palace gates, soaring out into the open sky of the continent.

Although it was referred to as a floating continent, the landmass was essentially a hyper-advanced, sprawling metropolis spanning over 170,000 square miles—and it wasn’t even the empire’s capital city.

Aeon and Sophia spent the day exploring various attractions, visiting bustling entertainment districts and famous tourist spots.

Out of the two of them, Aeon was easily the most excited; having lived a completely dull, non-magical life in his previous world just five years ago, everything here felt like a dream come true.

By the time the thrilling but exhausting day finally came to an end, the two children returned to the palace. They shared a warm goodbye before heading back to their respective rooms. To both of them, the day had been a deeply memorable and unforgettable journey.

The following morning, the grand event officially concluded. Aeon, his family, and a massive wave of other noble guests boarded their transports and began the journey back to their respective territories.

When the transport finally touched down at the Astaraeas family estate, the family was welcomed home by long rows of bowing servants standing in deep respect.

As soon as they stepped inside the grand manor, Aldrich turned to look down at his son. "Son, meet Terra at the training chamber later this noon. It is finally time to begin your official training."

Hearing his father’s words, Aeon’s face instantly lit up with pure excitement. He couldn’t help but shout, "Really? Finally, some real action!"

Elisabeth chuckled softly at her son’s unbridled enthusiasm, while Aldrich burst into a hearty, booming laugh. "Hahaha! Yes! That is exactly the spirit!"

The Duke patted his son’s shoulder firmly. "Go get some rest for now. I am going to train you well." Aeon nodded eagerly, his mind filled with a potent mixture of happiness and rock-solid determination.

At noon sharp, Terra escorted Aeon deep into the manor to the family’s private training hall. The heavy, reinforced doors slid upward with a pneumatic hiss to reveal a vast, sterile white room.

Sitting directly in the center of the chamber was his father, dressed in simple, lightweight training clothes. His eyes were closed, his posture perfectly still as he meditated.

Aeon stepped inside, and the heavy doors slid shut behind him, leaving Terra waiting faithfully out in the corridor. Aldrich slowly opened his eyes, his gaze locking onto his son."Come. Sit in front of me."

Aeon walked forward across the polished floor, taking a seat exactly one meter away from his father.

Aldrich wasted no time, diving straight into the lesson. "Before we begin any physical movements, tell me. what do you actually know about the Path, and what are its different classifications?"

Aeon’s expression turned serious. He took a breath and answered calmly, "The Path is the road a cultivator takes depending entirely on their innate talent. It is the fundamental process of manipulating, refining, and storing cosmic energy within our own bodies in order to ascend to higher states of being."

He paused briefly to organize his thoughts before continuing.

"The Paths themselves are classified into three main categories. First is the Warrior Path. Those who possess the talent for this path form a specialized core inside their dantian. They absorb raw cosmic energy directly into this core, refining it continuously to hone, strengthen, and transcend their physical bodies."

"The second is the Arcane Path," Aeon continued, his voice steady. "This path is chosen by those who possess a core inside their heart. It is the path of magic. Instead of strengthening the flesh, they absorb cosmic energy to forge cosmic rings directly around their heart.

While they command vastly superior control and manipulation over cosmic energy compared to warriors, their physical bodies remain much weaker."

He took a brief breath before speaking of the final category.

"And the third, which is the most important and rarest path of all, is the Spiritual Path. This path focuses entirely on cultivating a person’s soul by absorbing a completely different type of power: spiritual energy. It is widely considered the most mysterious and devastatingly powerful path in existence."

Aeon concluded his explanation, locking eyes with his father to await his judgment.

Aldrich smiled proudly, nodding his approval. "Excellent. You have a solid, textbook understanding of the paths. Now, let’s begin."

Standing up smoothly, the Duke adjusted his posture as he continued the lesson. "As you know, it is fundamentally impossible for a person to walk two different paths simultaneously. Furthermore, awakening as a spiritual cultivator is an exceptionally rare event. Because of this uncertainty, every young child spends their early childhood training with weapons while studying magic and soul theories. No matter which path ultimately awakens within you, having early foundational experience will always give you an advantage."

With a sudden ripple in the air, a beautiful, gleaming training sword materialized directly into Aldrich’s palm. "I will personally oversee your physical conditioning, weapon mastery, and close-quarters combat," Aldrich announced. "Meanwhile, your mother and one of our family elders will handle your education in magic and soul theory."

He gestured with his chin toward the far side of the chamber, where rows of training armaments hung neatly along the wall. "Go on. Choose a weapon of your choice."

Aeon walked over to the weapon racks, his eyes scanning the various blades, spears, and axes.

After a moment of careful deliberation, his gaze settled on a sleek, elegant katana. He gripped the hilt, feeling its weight, and walked back out onto the white floor.

Stopping exactly ten meters away from his father, Aeon assumed a combat stance.

Aldrich raised his blade, a fierce, challenging grin spreading across his face. "Alright then. Let’s begin. Come at me with everything you’ve got!"
