Chapter 6: Evolved To A Monster Maiden

Infinite Realm-Hopping With My Monster Maiden Harem

Seraphina catches my arm right before we step through, voice quieter than I’ve heard it all night. "If this goes wrong..." She doesn’t finish it. Just looks at me a second too long, like she’s already composing the apology she’ll never get to give. "Just — be careful, Jake."

Then the door shuts behind us, heavy and final, sealing us into the containment chamber alone.

The cold isn’t just cold anymore in here — it’s alive, pressing against my chest like a weight, mana so dense in the air it feels like breathing through ice water. Frost creeps along every surface, jagged spikes of it climbing the walls, the floor, and there in the center of it all, chained but barely holding, is Aurelia.

She’s massive. Scales the color of frozen steel, wings half-unfurled and scraping frost dust off the ceiling, eyes burning a pale, furious blue. The second she registers us in the room, she rears back and lets out a roar that doesn’t just echo — it freezes the sound itself, the air crystallizing mid-vibration, shards of frozen noise scattering to the floor like broken glass.

Viperess steps half in front of me instinctively, shadow flaring defensive around her. "Master. Say the word and I end this quickly. She is strong — stronger than the Beast I inherited from. I cannot guarantee your safety if she breaks the last restraint."

I feel it too — the raw pressure radiating off her, the kind that would’ve dropped me flat an hour ago. Even now, with everything Viperess gave me, some animal part of my brain is screaming to back off.

But I think about what she said outside the door. She is suffering. Not just feral. Not just dangerous. Something’s been done to her, or taken from her, and this is what’s left.

"No," I say, and I step forward, past Viperess, straight into the cold.

Aurelia’s head snaps toward me, chains groaning, another restraint cracking loose behind her with a shriek of stressed metal.

"I’m not here to kill you," I say, voice steady even though my breath is fogging thick in front of my face. "I’m here to free you."

Her jaws snap toward my hand, teeth like ice-carved daggers, close enough that I feel the frost bite at my skin before she pulls back, chains groaning as she fights the restraints just to get another shot at me.

"Easy," I say, low, steady, not backing away even though every instinct’s screaming at me to. "I’m not your enemy."

I keep my hand out, slow, deliberate, and when she lunges again I don’t flinch — just let my palm settle against the scales of her snout the second she’s close enough, cold burning against my skin like touching dry ice.

She stiffens. Another snap, weaker this time, more reflex than intent, chains rattling as she thrashes half-heartedly against them.

I don’t pull back. I stroke my hand slow along the ridge of her jaw, the way you’d calm something wounded instead of something dangerous, and slowly — so slowly — the tension in her starts bleeding out. Her breathing shifts, the freezing mist pouring off her slowing from violent gusts to something closer to shaky, exhausted breaths.

The prompt hangs steady in my vision, patient, waiting on me same as it did with Viperess.

I look at her — really look, past the ice and the chains and the rage, right into those pale blue eyes still watching me like she doesn’t fully trust this yet.

"Last chance to decide for yourself," I say quiet, mostly to her even though I know she can’t understand the words. "But I think you’re tired of being afraid."

I close my hand gentle against her scales.

Yes.

The frost around her collapses inward, folding into her instead of scattering, and where the massive dragon stood a second ago, something smaller settles onto the floor — a maiden, half dragon still, white scales tracing along pale skin, a long white tail curled beside her, a dress that looks woven from ice itself draping over her frame like it grew there rather than being worn. Her eyes are the same pale blue, sharp and regal even sitting in the frost-covered dirt.

She doesn’t kneel like Viperess did. Doesn’t bow her head, doesn’t ask for a name right away. Just sits there, spine straight, looking at me with an expression that’s still got pride burned into every line of it, even after everything.

"Why," she says finally, voice cool and clipped, "did you save me. I was mindless. I could have killed you where you stood, and you would have gained nothing from my death."

I crouch down to her level instead of standing over her, and I answer honest, because I figure she’d see through anything less.

"Because you weren’t a monster," I say. "You were hurting. And nobody deserves to get put down just ’cause the people around them were too scared to actually help."

She studies me a long moment, something shifting behind that cold regal look — not quite softening, but warming, the way ice does right before it starts to melt.

I reach out and pat her head, light, careful. She doesn’t blush, doesn’t flinch away either — just lets it happen, expression still composed, still dignified, but something warmer settling underneath it now.

[Name Required][Assign designation to bound Maiden — Master Jake Vance]

The prompt blinks steady in my vision, waiting on me again.
