The chill of the mystical pool did nothing to douse the liquid fire burning in my chest, nor my raging thirst for vengeance against Lucas and the rest of them.

Those bastards were going to pay tenfold for what they did to me.

Even though my porcelain skin remained flawless with no trace of blood on my bare stomach, the phantom memory of the vampire’s clawed fingers tearing through my heart still throbbed like an agonizing ghost through every fiber of my being.Full novel: Infinite Seduction: Reincarnated as a Kitsune in the Infernal Abyss — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

I pressed both hands to the center of my chest, trembling violently.

Beneath my palms, I could feel the frantic rhythm of my new anatomy—the wild thumping of an organ that, only seconds ago, had been crushed to ash.

It hurt... God, it hurt like hell.

Crystal-clear water dripped from the stalactites overhead, marking the seconds with cruel, mechanical precision.

There was no time to weep, no time to unravel the animal panic clawing at my gut. The chilled echoes of approaching footsteps were already reverberating from the cavern depths.

Clack. Clack. Clack.

“Well, well...” That same raspy, freezing, sultry voice drifted from the darkness. “It’s been over three hundred years since anything living tumbled into this miserable pit.”

I swallowed the scream of terror threatening to tear through my throat.

My mind, honed by years of tactical thinking as an adventurer, processed the lesson from the first loop at breakneck speed: hesitation and overt panic were an instant death sentence.

Carmilla held no respect for the weak, nor for those who wavered. If I acted like cornered prey, she would butcher me like it.

Gritting my teeth, I forced my limbs to obey. I rose from the pool with deliberate, measured grace.

The violet water cascaded down the curve of my hips, and I let my two tails of spectral silver fire fan out behind me like a majestic plume.

My fox ears twitched upright, straining to catch every vibration in the air.

Carmilla stepped out from the shadows. Her terrifying crimson eyes burned with the same bloodthirsty curiosity as before, raking over my naked form with the leering appreciation of an apex predator eyeing an exotic delicacy.

“A silver-furred Kitsune... what an unusual treat,” the vampire purred, closing the distance in a single, blur-fast stride that placed her less than a meter from my face. “Tell me, little vixen... did you come here to be my meal, or are you just another parasite seeking a grave in my domain?”

This time, I didn't shrink back. This time, I refused to let fear freeze my tongue.

Reaching deep into my new nature, I drew upon the faint embers of illusion magic inherent to my race.

A subtle silver shimmer danced across the slit pupils of my golden eyes. I curved my lips into an enigmatic smile, locking onto her crimson gaze without blinking.

“Neither, milady,” my voice rolled out like smooth velvet, laced with a brazen charm I never could have imagined possessing in my former life as a man. “I’m here because destiny deemed a queen of the night deserved company worthy of her presence, rather than this suffocating silence.”

Carmilla stopped dead in her tracks. For a fleeting heartbeat, genuine surprise flickered across her sharp, predatory features.

She raised a pale hand—not to impale me, but to glide the frigid pads of her fingers along the contour of my jawline. Her touch sent electric jolts skittering down my spine.

“A bold little creature...” The vampire smiled, exposing the needle-sharp points of her fangs. “I do appreciate beauty that doesn't drop to its knees. Frightened flesh always tastes so sour, but yours... yours promises to be sweet.”

Delicious...

A fierce jolt of triumph flared in my chest. It worked! I thought in desperate relief.

Audacity and seduction were the ticket.

Charm was how I’d walk out of here alive and claim my revenge.

My fatal mistake was celebrating too early.

Carmilla leaned in, pressing her face against my neck to draw in a deep breath.

Her icy exhalation raised goosebumps across my skin.

Then, she froze completely.

“What a pity,” she murmured, her lips brushing directly against my ear.

“W-what...?” A micro-fracture of panic cracked my composure for a fraction of a second.

“Your smile is lovely, little vixen. Your illusion magic is nearly flawless,” Carmilla said, her tone dripping with a mock pity that turned my blood to ice. “Yet your heart... it’s hammering at three hundred beats a minute.

You reek of primal terror dressed up in arrogance.

I despise liars, you know. And I especially loathe manipulative parasites who think they can play clever games with me.”

Her eyes narrowed with murderous disgust.

“Parasites like you.”

Before my kitsune reflexes could fire or I could beg for my life, Carmilla struck.

Her hand didn't aim for my heart this time; it whipped forward like a scythe toward the base of my neck.

CRACK!

The sickening sound of my cervical vertebrae snapping echoed in my skull before all sense of orientation vanished.

Gravity inverted as my head lolled backward at an impossible angle. There was no lingering agony like the first loop—only an instantaneous, freezing void.

Lesson number two: Carmilla could smell fear on a physiological level.

It wasn't enough to play the part; I had to genuinely possess unshakeable confidence, or an ancient vampire's predatory senses would sniff out the deception in a heartbeat.

GASP!

I burst through the water's surface in a violent convulsion, sputtering and choking on the mystical fluid.

I scrambled onto the freezing stone, coughing and wheezing while clutching my neck with both hands.

The phantom shock of snapped bone and total paralysis still lingered fresh in my nerves. A bitter, ragged sob of pure frustration slipped past my teeth.

“Damn it... DAMN IT!” I screamed, slamming my porcelain fist against the stone floor.

A droplet of shimmering silver blood welled over my knuckles.

The pain was real. Death was real. Lucas's betrayal, Elena's murder, losing my human body... it was all a living nightmare from which I couldn't wake up.

I was trapped in an abyssal hell with an immortal psychopath who butchered me for hesitating and snapped my neck for lying.

Clack. Clack. Clack.

Carmilla's footsteps echoed in the distance, punctual as death itself.

“Not again...” I whimpered in sheer panic.

In this third loop, I had zero mental fortitude left to stage another doomed seduction.

If I stayed, I would die for the third time in under an hour.

Pure survival instinct seized the reins. Scrambling to my feet and ignoring my nakedness, I bolted toward the opposite side of the cavern, throwing myself down the dark tunnel boring into the belly of the mountain.

Behind me, Carmilla’s chilling laughter rippled through the dark:

“A chase? Oh, I do love it when they run, little vixen! It makes the blood flow so much warmer.”

I leaned into the supernatural agility of my kitsune form.

Delicate and slender though my legs were, they packed monstrous power.

I vaulted over jagged rocks and dodged stalagmites at speeds I never could have dreamed of as a human.

My twin silver tails blazed like spectral torches, illuminating the pitch-black corridor and guiding me through the subterranean maze.

I ran for what felt like an eternity.

Carmilla’s footsteps eventually faded into the distance, but the surrounding cavern underwent a violent shift.

The damp chill of the abyss grew thick and stifling.

The ambient temperature spiked at a terrifying pace. Instead of frosty mist, every breath of air seared my throat like liquid lead.

Wet stone gave way to veins of black basalt and petrified magma glowing a sullen, incandescent crimson.

Where the hell am I? I skidded to a halt at the edge of a subterranean precipice.

Before me lay no ordinary tunnel. It was a gargantuan caldera of a chamber, vast enough that its vaulted ceiling vanished into the oppressive dark above.

In the center bubbled a churning lake of molten lava, belching geysers of embers across a sprawling mountain of hoarded gold, ancient plate armor, and charred bones.

And perched atop that colossal mountain of treasure and ash rested a titanic behemoth.

A dragon.

Yet this was no feral reptilian brute. Her scales gleamed a deep, obsidian-shaded crimson, polished to the luster of cut gemstones, and each curving talon was the size of a greatsword.

A suffocating mantle of searing heat and godlike sovereignty rolled off her resting form in waves.

Without even realizing it, I had fled headlong into the other half of this abyssal nightmare: the domain of Ignis, the Calamity Dragon.

A tiny loose stone clicked beneath my bare foot, shattering the cavern's silence.

A massive eye slid open.

A slit pupil of incandescent gold fixed directly onto my tiny, naked kitsune silhouette at the cliff’s edge.

The heat inside the chamber surged tenfold in a single breath.

Ignis’s aura was suffocating, crushing, saturated with an arrogance so colossal that it made Carmilla’s bloodlust look like child’s play.

“What wretched vermin dares disturb my domain?”

Her voice didn't travel through the air; it detonated directly inside my skull like divine thunder, the sheer pressure flattening my fox ears against my head in excruciating pain.

I froze, paralyzed. I was trapped between a paranoid vampire stalking my rear and a living catastrophe glaring down at me like an insignificant bug.

“M-milady...” I stammered, raising both hands and backing away. “I... I don't mean any harm... I was only looking for a way out of here...”

Ignis’s golden slit narrowed with unadulterated contempt.

“A silver-furred rat presumes to speak to me as an equal?” The dragon’s psychic voice vibrated with destructive pride. “Your very existence within my sanctuary is an insult to my lineage. Lesser beasts do not plead for audiences. They kneel—and they burn.”

Ignis didn't even bother rising from her hoard. She simply parted her jaws, and a blinding radiance of white-gold light ignited deep within her gullet.

No time to dodge. No time for illusions.

A roaring torrent of draconic fire, so searing it flash-vaporized the stone cliff beneath me, engulfed my entire reality.

Fire scoured away my porcelain skin, incinerated my silver hair, and melted my bones in a fraction of a millisecond.

The sheer agony of being turned to ash was so cataclysmic that my mind shattered long before my body finished disintegrating.

GASP!

Frigid air tore back into my pulverized lungs.

I curled up against the bottom of the mystical pool, clutching my trembling frame as tears streamed unchecked from my golden eyes.

The phantom scorch of draconic flames still burned across every square inch of my skin, mingling with the sickening memory of a snapped neck and a crushed heart.

Three loops. Three agonizing deaths.

I was caught in an impossible prison. On one side, a vampire who smelled fear in my bloodstream and executed me the moment she detected deceit. On the other, a dragon possessed of divine hubris who atomized me simply for breathing in her presence.

And to break the seal, escape, and butcher the bastards who ruined my life and slaughtered Elena... I had to make both of them fall head over heels in love with me.

A ragged, hysterical laugh tore from my kitsune throat into the gloom of the cavern.

“This is impossible...” I whispered, staring down at my porcelain hands trembling violently under the violet water. “This is absolute insanity

...”

Clack. Clack. Clack.

In the distance, Carmilla’s heels struck the stone once more. Time waited for no one. The loop had reset.

Damn it all.
