The memory of the Progenitor Blood still burned through my arteries.

It felt as though thousands of red-hot glass needles had surged through my bloodstream, ravaging every organ from the inside out until I was reduced to a withered husk.

My eyes snapped open, and I choked on a mouthful of glowing liquid.Full novel: Infinite Seduction: Reincarnated as a Kitsune in the Infernal Abyss — read the rest free on NovelCodex.org

The serene chill of the mystical pool welcomed me back.

Coughing violently, I hauled myself onto the stone bank, bracing my small, porcelain hands against the wet granite.

Behind me, my two silver tails collapsed heavily, dripping with violet water.

I drew in a long, deep breath.

A few seconds were all it took for my pulse to even out, forcing my kitsune physiology to regain its composure.

The System alert hovered faintly in the periphery of my vision, reduced to a subtle status indicator that didn't disrupt my train of thought:

[Loop #5 Initialized | Fear Resistance: Active | Aura Sight: Ready]

The game begins...

I didn't need flashing displays to tell me what needed to be done. The margin of error was razor-thin, almost cruel: show fear, and Carmilla would decapitate me. Lie, and she would snap my neck.

Charm her too quickly, and she would attempt to brand me with her lethal venom, collapsing my unevolved body.

Walking that tightrope required absolute precision.

Stray even a millimeter off during our conversation, and I’d end up dead for the fifth time.

Clack. Clack. Clack.

The sharp click of iron-shod heels echoed much closer this time.

She was already here—punctual and relentless.

I rose from the pool with deliberate resolve, letting the water sheet off the curves of my bare form.

Straightening my spine, I pinned my fox ears upright and fixed my golden eyes directly upon the gloom where the vampire would emerge.

Carmilla glided out from the shadows, her black silk gown sweeping across the stone with practiced poise.

Her crimson eyes flared with that familiar, bloodthirsty curiosity I already knew by heart.

“Well, well...” Her voice, smooth as velvet and cold as frost, drifted through the dark. “It’s been over three hundred years since anything living tumbled into this miserable pit.”

That same damn speech again.

She crossed the distance in a heartbeat, blurring forward to seize my chin with sharp-nailed fingers, forcing my gaze up into hers.

“A silver-furred Kitsune... what an unusual treat,” she murmured, raking her eyes over me. “Tell me, little vixen... did you come here to serve as my meal, or are you just another parasite seeking a grave in my domain?”

You're the one who's going to be devoured, I thought, a vicious spark running through my mind.

Sooner or later, I'm going to make you mine, Carmilla. Then you'll learn some damn respect.

Keeping my pulse completely flat, I engaged [Aura Sight].

Through my golden eyes, the swirling threads of violet energy around Carmilla materialized—a suffocating tide of paranoia and predatory caution.

“I was betrayed,” I answered, keeping my voice low, firm, and heavy with genuine grief. “The man I called my brother drove a blade through my fiancée’s heart and threw me into this abyss to steal the glory of our achievements.

I didn't come seeking death, milady.

Nor am I a parasite.”

I came to butcher those bastards. Even if I haven't figured out how yet.

Carmilla narrowed her eyes.

She leaned in toward my throat, tilting her head to listen to the cadence of my heart.

This was the danger zone. In the previous loop, this was the exact moment her obsessive fixation had spiraled out of control.

I had to redirect her before she decided the only way to "protect" me was by forcing her blood into my veins.

“A tranquil heart... a bitter tale,” Carmilla whispered, the cool pads of her fingers tracing the curve of my collarbone. “You smell of pure vengeance, little one.

It’s a delicious scent. I’m almost tempted to keep you all to myself—to brand you with my blood so you never leave this cave...”

She leaned closer, her lips brushing against my skin as she purred, “...so you can satisfy my darkest desires.

You enchant me so deeply. You will be mine in bed...”

“If you try to brand me now, I will die,” I cut in sharply, speaking with glacial composure.

Carmilla froze. Her crimson pupils contracted into dangerous slits.

“What did you say?”

“Look at me.” I took a deliberate step forward, closing the space between us until I was mere millimeters from her marble face.

“My body has just been reborn through the pool's magic. I am a newborn Kitsune. The mana running through my veins is mystical Spectral Fire.

If you inject your Progenitor Blood into my system in this state, the elemental conflict will liquefy my organs in five seconds.”

I held her gaze, adding with quiet provocation, “And then I won't be able to be yours the way you crave, my mistress.”

Carmilla blinked, caught off guard by the precision of my words and the brazen audacity of my move.

“You would only be killing me,” I pressed on, locking my golden eyes onto hers. “And I doubt a queen of the night wants a pretty corpse cooling on the stone.

You want a companion who understands the sting of betrayal.

Someone who can look you in the eye without trembling.”

I tilted my head, offering a slow, sultry smirk. “You want someone who can truly make love to you.

And that someone is me.”

A dense silence fell over the cavern. Carmilla’s violet aura fluctuated wildly. The dark chains of energy coiling around her slackened slightly, shifting into an electric, breathless intrigue.

Slowly, the vampire began to laugh. It was a soft, melodic sound that chimed against the stone walls like crystal glasses.

“Clever... captivating, and absurdly bold,” Carmilla murmured.

Instead of seizing me with lethal force, she lightly stroked my cheek with the back of her cold hand. “You have a point, little vixen.

A corpse is of no use to me. And it would be a shame to break such a fascinating toy so soon.”

She lingered over my face, licking her lower lip. “How delicious... you truly fascinate me.”

I exhaled silently.

A prompt from the System flashed through my mind:

[Yandere Brand Temporarily Averted | Carmilla Affection: 3.5% | Status: Cautious Fascination]

“Follow me,” Carmilla commanded, turning with a sweeping flourish of her silk skirt. “If you’re going to survive down here while regaining your strength, you won't stay naked in this filthy puddle.”

She cast a teasing glance over her shoulder, her eyes raking over my curves. “Though it doesn't bother me in the slightest to see you like this... You have a delicious body.”

I followed behind her. The cavern floor was freezing, but the supernatural balance of my new body allowed me to pad across the stone without making a sound.

My two silver tails swayed gently behind me, shedding a soft spiritual light that cut through the darkness.

We passed through an arched corridor cut deep into the ancient rock until we reached the vampire’s personal sanctum.

It was a surreal sight. What had once been a subterranean fortress now lay in ruins, yet Carmilla had transformed the great hall into an opulent palace.

Antique red velvet tapestries hung from the weeping stone walls; hand-carved dark wood furniture and a massive four-poster bed draped in black silk dominated the chamber.

A bed where I’d belong to her, and she’d belong to me...

The air smelled of dried roses, aged wine, and ozone.

“Put this on,” Carmilla said, tossing a garment toward me from an open wooden chest.

I caught the fabric out of the air. It was a loose robe of black silk bordered with delicate silver thread.

I slipped it over my shoulders, relishing the cool, soft texture gliding against my skin. It hung loosely around my frame, baring part of my left shoulder, with a slit in the back that allowed my twin tails to sway freely.

Carmilla sank into a velvet armchair, crossing her legs with practiced elegance.

Her legs were stunning—long, statuesque, and thoroughly captivating.

She watched me closely as I adjusted the robe. “Tell me your name, little one.”

“Elina,” I answered without hesitation. The name Alan had been buried beneath the snows of Weeping Peak.

Only the kitsune seeking vengeance remained.

“Elina...” She rolled the name over her tongue, savoring the syllables. “A sweet name for a creature born of tragedy.”

Carmilla gestured with her fingers, bidding me forward.

I crossed the room and stopped at the base of her chair.

She leaned in, catching a lock of my silver hair between her pale fingers.

“Tell me, Elina... what do you intend to do once you leave this cave? Surely you realize the only way out is barred by the Abyssal Seal. Right?”

“I’m going to hunt down the three men who betrayed me,” I said, the venom in my tone so pure that the Spectral Fire along my tails flared with bright azure-silver sparks. “I’m going to tear the skin from their bones, destroy everything they love, and ensure they beg for death.”

I met her gaze evenly. “Every waking second, until the very last breath of their miserable lives.”

Carmilla smiled, her crimson eyes gleaming with an almost sensual delight at the sheer brutality of my words.

“A magnificent ambition,” she purred. “I do adore destructive passion in the young.

But to break the seal, you require either the blessing or the demise of the two entities guarding this place.

And my fellow resident... is far less accommodating than I am, you know.”

She was referring to Ignis.

“The dragon,” I murmured.

“That scaly brute,” Carmilla sneered, her lip curling with genuine disgust. “She sleeps away the centuries atop a mountain of shiny trash.

An arrogant, uncultured monster without a shred of refinement.

Stray into her domain, and she will reduce you to ash before you can whisper your pretty name.”

At that moment, the bedrock beneath the fortress shuddered.

A deep, violent tremor ripped through the stone.

Dust and jagged fragments rained down from the vaulted ceiling.

The velvet curtains whipped frantically as a sudden wave of stifling, blistering heat crashed into Carmilla’s chilled sanctuary.

The scent of dried roses was obliterated in an instant by the sulfurous reek of boiling magma and suffocating smoke.

Carmilla sprang to her feet. The poised elegance on her face warped into a monstrous snarl. Black veins pulsed violently along her neck, and her fangs lengthened past her lower lip.

“That miserable lizard...” the vampire hissed, her voice vibrating with a distorted power that shook the air. “How dare she pour her aura into my domain?!”

[ENVIRONMENTAL ANOMALY ALERT]

Event: Premature Awakening of Ignis (Calamity Dragon).

Cause: Kitsune Spectral Fire, ignited by Elina's emotional surge, has been detected by draconic senses.

Threat Level: Catastrophic.

BOOM!

The northern wall of the hall blasted inward in an eruption of fire and molten basalt. A tempest of incandescent gold flames swept through the breach, flash-incinerating the velvet tapestries and wooden furnishings in a single heartbeat.

Through the rolling smoke and glowing rubble, a titanic silhouette carved into view. It was not the dragon’s entire body, but her colossal, horned head forcing its way through the shattered masonry.

Her crimson scales gleamed like red-hot rubies, and a single massive golden eye locked straight onto me.

“That scent...” Ignis’s psychic voice slammed into my skull like an iron hammer, making my fox ears ring with blinding pain. “A fox spirit... Spectral Fire burning in my abyss...”

Carmilla blurred into position directly in front of me.

A protective barrier of blood magic and solid shadows erupted from her palms, deflecting the scorching shockwaves that threatened to roast my skin.

“Get out of my territory, you filthy beast!” Carmilla roared, her crimson eyes blazing with blinding fury. “She is mine!”

The dragon’s golden slit narrowed. A low, mocking rumble shook the foundations of the cavern.

“Yours, decrepit leech?” Ignis taunted, parting her massive jaws as a vortex of white-hot flame gathered deep in her gullet. “Everything that falls into this abyss belongs to the strongest. Meaning ME... And a silver-furred Kitsune is far too valuable a tribute for you to waste on your boudoir games.”

“Lay a claw on her and I will tear your wings off with my bare hands!” Carmilla shrieked, unleashing a swarm of shadow familiars and crystalline blood lances straight toward the beast's eyes.

A battle between two Rank S apex predators detonated less than ten paces away.

The deluge of draconic fire smashing into the gothic blood barrier produced an apocalyptic shockwave.

The vaulted ceiling began to disintegrate, dropping massive blocks of granite into the chamber.

The heat was suffocating, the air turned to toxic ash, and the sheer atmospheric pressure of both clashing auras felt heavy enough to crush my lungs.

I was trapped dead center in the clash of titans.

Carmilla, blinded by possessive rage, was entirely consumed with blocking the dragon’s direct breath weapon, paying no heed to the falling ceiling.

Overhead, a colossal slab of granite tore free, hurtling straight toward my position.

I tried to throw myself aside using my kitsune reflexes, but Ignis’s crushing aura pinned me in place like lead weights.

“Elina!” Carmilla’s shriek pierced the din just as the shadow fell over me.

The granite slab struck my torso full-force, smashing me into the bedrock. The impact was cataclysmic; breath and blood erupted from my lips simultaneously.

I felt my ribs pulverized into dust and my spine snap in two.

Through fading, blood-drenched vision, I caught a glimpse of Carmilla’s face twisted in pure, desperate terror as she lunged toward me, just before the entire cavern caved in under a tidal wave of fire and shadow.

“No... NO!”

Her final scream was swallowed by the dark as the mountain collapsed upon us.

Damn it all...

GASP!

I surged out of the mystical pool with a violent convulsion, clutching my chest and hacking up mouthfuls of glowing violet water.

The violet magical fluid shimmered in peaceful silence. No flames, no falling rocks, no reek of brimstone. My porcelain skin was pristine, and my spine was whole.

Death number five. But this time, it hadn't been caused by a conversational slip-up with Carmilla.

I had died because my uncontrolled emotional flare had turned my Spectral Fire into a beacon, igniting a catastrophic territorial war of jealousy and dominance between the vampire and the dragon before my body had the power to survive the crossfire.

Clack. Clack. Clack.

Far down the tunnel, the crisp strike of Carmilla’s iron heels began to echo once more.

I took a long, steady breath and wiped the water from my lips, a cold, bitter smile touching my kitsune face.

“Loop number six...” I whispered, watching my twin silver tails shimmer beneath the water.

“This time, I’ll have to learn to handle two monsters at once before they bring the house down over my head.”

I’ll use every ounce of charm I have to pull it off!
