The next day.
Falling Cloud Valley.
The Medicine Garden.
A middle-aged steward spoke to Qi Yuan with a serious expression:
“Big Qi, starting today, you will be responsible for working in Elder Kang’s medicine garden.”
“If there is anything you don’t understand, you can ask the senior brothers and sisters within the garden. But remember to know your place. Do not pick spiritual herbs without permission. Violators will be severely punished according to sect rules.”
Qi Yuan cupped his hands. “Thank you for your guidance, Martial Uncle. I will do my best.”
He was quite satisfied with being assigned to the medicine garden. After all, it was a relatively quiet place.
Usually, apart from some Elders’ disciples who came with tokens to request herbs, others were not allowed to enter this area.
He understood clearly in his heart that this good assignment landing on him was definitely thanks to that beautiful Senior Sister.
“Alright then, work hard here. If anything comes up, you can find me at the Outer Sect Steward’s office.”
The steward nodded, then turned to a young Outer Sect Disciple beside him. “Martial Nephew Liu, show him around the garden. I will head back first.”
“Yes, Martial Uncle.”
The Liu-surnamed male cultivator watched the middle-aged steward leave, then turned to Qi Yuan with a friendly attitude.
“Junior Brother, my name is Liu Tie. I’m an Outer Sect Disciple responsible for guarding the medicine garden. Since you’re new here, let me show you around first.”
“Thank you very much, Senior Brother Liu.”
Qi Yuan said politely and followed him into the medicine garden.
As they walked, Liu Tie said with a smile:
“Steward Niu brought you here himself. You must be highly regarded in the Outer Sect, Junior Brother. You have a bright future ahead of you.”
Hearing this, Qi Yuan sneered inwardly. He knew Liu Tie’s words seemed like praise but were actually probing his background.
If he chose to hide his light and appear weak now, he’d probably end up with all the dirty and tiring jobs in the medicine garden from now on.
Thinking this, he put on a modest smile but spoke truthfully:
“You flatter me, Senior Brother. Thanks to Elder Mo’s favor, he specifically named me to help manage the medicine garden. It’s truly an honor.”
“I’m still feeling apprehensive about it and only hope to repay Elder Mo’s kindness as soon as possible.”
At times like this, if you have backing, you must openly acknowledge it. It saves a lot of trouble later. The source of this chapter is g.com.
From Steward Niu’s words earlier, he already knew that being assigned to the medicine garden was Elder Mo’s intention.
Compared to Bai Xirou who was far away in the Inner Sect, an Elder at the Golden Core realm who held power over life and death in the entire Outer Sect was clearly more intimidating.
He wasn’t lying anyway; he was just stating facts. Whatever conclusions the other person drew after hearing it were none of his business.
Sure enough, upon hearing this, Liu Tie’s expression changed immediately. His gaze toward Qi Yuan became even more polite, even carrying a hint of respect.
“That is good to hear, Junior Brother Qi. We are fellow disciples. If you need any help, just ask; I will gladly lend a hand.”
Falling Cloud Valley’s medicine garden bordered the back mountain and covered a vast area. Apart from some Servant Disciples and Outer Sect Disciples, there was also an Inner Sect Disciple at the Foundation Building realm responsible for guarding it to prevent demon beasts from the back mountain from intruding and damaging the spiritual herbs inside.
Most of the demon beasts in the back mountain were deliberately raised by Falling Cloud Valley for disciples to practice on. Their levels were generally not high; most were at the Qi Refining stage, with Foundation Building demon beasts being very few.
“This medicine garden belongs to Elder Kang of the Alchemy Pavilion. The venerable elder is often in seclusion refining pills and doesn’t bother with mundane affairs. If there’s a shortage of medicinal materials in the Alchemy Pavilion, he sends his disciples to pick them.”
“Also, remember not to approach that small building for no reason. Senior Sister Zhen from the Inner Sect dislikes being disturbed the most.”
After walking around the garden together, Liu Tie brought him to the edge of a small spiritual field.
“You will tend this patch of Green Leaf Grass, Junior Brother Qi. Water it with spiritual water every morning. The rest of your time is free for cultivation.”
This spiritual field was about a hundred zhang square and planted with a pill-refining material called Green Leaf Grass. Its leaves were emerald green with a crystal-clear luster.
With a spiritual spring close by, watering the field would take no more than an hour. It was an absurdly easy assignment.
Qi Yuan was very satisfied with this arrangement. It meant he would have more time for system tasks.
With his Nascent Soul breakthrough approaching, he was eager to see what would happen if he attempted it while remaining in the Epiphany state.
Of course, this required a large amount of Reversal Points.
Hopefully this damn system can stay steady and not get carried away…
Qi Yuan thought silently.
After a dull day’s work, Qi Yuan somehow “lost his way” back to his residence and ended up in the back mountains.
While no one was watching, he “accidentally” stepped on a Red-Claw Bear at the eighth layer of Qi Refining, killing it. A meal of roasted bear paws followed.

Over the next few days, while slacking off and doing minimal work in the medicine garden, Qi Yuan transformed into an emotionless mission machine, frantically grinding Reversal Points. Read the latest chapters at novelping(.)com.

“System Bro, what’s going on? Where are the new missions?”
Inside the wooden hut, Qi Yuan looked at the empty mission panel before him, his expression very displeased.
“Give me another mission already! I want more missions!”
He had just started finding some pleasure in speed-running missions, only for it to come to such an abrupt halt. Previously, after old missions were completed, new ones would quickly refresh. This time, there was no movement for a long time.
【Ding! Please remain calm, Host. The 【First Time】 series of beginner missions has officially ended. This system is automatically generating next-stage missions for you.】
“System Bro, you’re not very capable.”
Qi Yuan rolled his eyes, saying with a look of disdain.
It seemed he had been too forceful these past few days and drained this damn system dry.
Wait!
Automatic generation?
Qi Yuan’s eyes lit up. Could it be that after all this hardship, he had finally reached better times? Would the style of upcoming system missions become normal?
Thinking this, he eagerly rubbed his hands together, silently cheering on the system.
Come on, System. Open your eyes and look at the world when you generate these missions! If you really can improve, I promise I will stop cursing you.
After a while, the long-silent system panel finally showed activity, displaying several lines of glaring small text.
Here it comes!
Qi Yuan perked up, looking on with full anticipation.
The next moment, his expression completely froze.
Damn!!!
