SONG- GOOD FOR YOU BY SELENA GOMEZ
JAY JAY POV
Asshole.
Absolute, good-for-nothing, arrogant fucker.
Note to self: Never ask Mark Keifer Watson for language lessons, life advice, or food ever again.
The man is a pathological liar when it comes to stealing kisses.
I marched down the sidewalk with long, furious strides, my heels clicking loudly against the concrete, aggressively holding my paper bag of leftover garlic bread like a weapon.
The cool night air did absolutely nothing to soothe the fiery heat burning on my cheeks.
“Jay-jay, stop walking so fast,” Keifer called out from behind, his deep voice laced with that annoying, breathless chuckle as his long legs effortlessly caught up to my frantic pace.
I spun on my heel, stopping dead in my tracks and glaring daggers straight into his smug face.
“Asshole! Did you see the media poking out from the bushes across the street?!” I hissed, gesturing violently toward the dark parked sedans along the curb.
“They probably took thirty high-definition photos of your damn lips plastered all over my face on a public restaurant terrace! By tomorrow morning, the entire city is going to be dissecting that kiss in the tabloids!”
Keifer stepped into my space, completely unfazed by my rage.
His dark eyes glittered with pure, unadulterated amusement as that infuriating, teasing smirk stretched across his lips.
“There is nothing wrong with that, Jay,” he said smoothly, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear “After all, we will be doing so many more things than just kissing once Sunday night arrives.”
My entire face flushed bright crimson, burning so hot I thought my skin was going to melt off right there on the sidewalk.
Before he could notice just how completely flustered I was, I planted my hands on his chest, shoved him backward, and bolted ahead toward the car.
He drove us back to the Mariano estate, insisting that he would never let his future bride take a cab home after dark.
When the car rolled smoothly up the long, gated driveway and parked in front of the grand entrance, I sat quietly in the passenger seat for a few seconds.
My hand hovered over the door handle, torn between wanting to sprint inside to safety and not wanting to say goodbye just yet.
Before I could push the door open, his hand shot out, catching my wrist with that firm, surprisingly gentle grip.
He pulled my hand up to his lips, his mouth pressing softly against the inside of my wrist, right where my pulse was hammering like a trapped bird.
“Todo es culpa tuya que esté tan enamorado de ti, te prometo que haré que me vuelvas a amar de una forma u otra,” he murmured against my heated skin, his dark eyes locking onto mine with an intensity that took my breath away.
It is all your fault that I am so in love with you, I promise you that I will make you love me again one way or another
I pulled my hand back with an exasperated huff, rolling my eyes to hide the frantic thumping in my chest.
“I hope your dumb ass knows that you are speaking Spanish again,” I snapped, thoroughly annoyed that he kept hiding behind Spanish whenever he wanted to say something heavy.
Keifer just leaned back against the leather headrest, his arm casually resting over the steering wheel, that wicked, dangerous smirk spreading across his lips.
“Keep cursing at me, Jay,” he said, his voice dropping into a low, smoky purr, his eyes drifting down to my mouth.
“Keep cursing and see what happens to those pretty, juicy lips of yours.”
I rolled my eyes, slammed the passenger door shut before he could get another word in, and stormed up the front steps into the mansion.
The moment I stepped into the brightly lit foyer, kicking off my heels near the door, I found Papa standing near the living room entrance holding a cup of black coffee, with Percy and Aries lounging on the sofas behind him.
“Is Keifer outside?” Papa asked, looking past my shoulder toward the glass doors.
I nodded, clutching my bag of leftover garlic bread to my chest.
“Hmm. Call him inside for dinner,” Papa said calmly, gesturing toward the driveway.
“It’s cold out, and it’s poor manners to send him back on an empty stomach.”
“Don’t worry about him, Papa. He ate a massive bowl of pasta and half a loaf of bread at the restaurant,” I told him quickly, trying to slip past before anyone examined my heated face.
“He’s basically full.”
“Jay-jay,” Papa’s voice dropped, carrying that stern, quiet Mariano authority that made all three of us freeze.
“Go call your future husband inside,” Papa commanded gently, raising an eyebrow at me.
“Right now.”
Aries peered over the back of the sofa with an irritating smirk, while Percy squinted at me like a detective examining a crime scene.
“Wait a second,” Percy called out, pointing an accusatory finger at my face.
“Why are your lips so red and swollen, sis? Did you eat spicy food, or did Watson give you mouth-to-mouth resuscitation in the car?”
“Shut up, Percy!” I yelled, my cheeks flaring instantly.
“Jay-jay,” Papa repeated, firmer this time, tapping his foot against the polished marble.
“The door. Call him.”
I groaned loudly, threw my head back in defeat, and stomped right back to the front entrance to wave the smug asshole inside before my family started a full-blown interrogation.
Keifer stepped through the grand front doors, unbuttoning his tailored suit jacket and nodding with deep, formal respect to Papa.
“Good evening, Mr. Mariano,” Keifer said smoothly, looking as composed, elegant, and infuriatingly polite as if he hadn’t spent the last hour teasing me half to death in his car.
I took one look at his smug, handsome face, turned right around on my heel, and practically sprinted toward the grand staircase to escape to the safety of my bedroom.
“Jay-jay, come and sit down to eat with us,” Papa called out from the dining room archway, his voice firm and disapproving of my sudden retreat.
I paused on the third step, gripping the mahogany banister, and turned back with a completely exhausted, dramatic expression.
“I’m full, I’m completely exhausted, and I desperately need sleep,” I insisted, not giving anyone a chance to argue with me.
“Goodnight, Papa. Goodnight, Percy. Goodnight, Aries.”
I pointedly did not say goodnight to the tall, dark-haired mafia standing right in the middle of the foyer.
Instead, I gave Keifer one final, withering glare, spun around, and took the stairs two at a time, leaving the four most dangerous men in the city standing at the bottom of the staircase to eat their dinner without me.
