As it turned out, the spatial distortion of the Limitless could not block the concept of death.
Almost the instant Ronawa activated her technique, Gojo’s expression changed.
He could clearly feel the defense of his supposedly invincible Limitless dying.
And then, that was that.
Ronawa was the first to give out, panting heavily as she retracted the death command she had imposed on his technique.
The cursed energy drain was simply too massive.
Slaying the concept of the Limitless was completely viable on a mechanical level, but her cursed energy reserves couldn’t keep up.
For her current self, forcing Satoru Gojo’s Limitless to actually die required an astronomical amount of cursed energy.
She couldn’t do it.
She just flat-out couldn’t do it.
Even so, Gojo was profoundly shocked by her ability.
He had anticipated something crazy, of course.
A cursed spirit born from the concept of “death” was never going to be weak.
But experiencing it firsthand was still deeply jarring.
How did an ability that could just straight-up order someone else’s innate technique to die even come into existence?
It was completely broken.
If Ronawa actually had enough cursed energy, couldn’t she just instantly one-shot him?
For a brief, fleeting second, Gojo genuinely entertained the thought: This woman is too dangerous to be kept alive.
Because it was blatantly obvious that once Ronawa fully matured, she would become an unrivaled, ultimate monster.
But…
Gojo really did kind of want to raise a monster.
Besides, if he didn’t play fast and loose with the rules, would he even be Satoru Gojo?
So in the end, he didn’t do anything to her.
Instead, keeping his earlier promise, he took Ronawa out for a massive feast nearby as a reward.
For a while after that, Ronawa just shut herself in her secluded little courtyard house.
She spent her days playing games, scrolling through videos, and surfing the web.
Occasionally, she’d tag along with Gojo to learn the fundamentals of cursed energy manipulation.
Like Black Flash.
Cursed spirits could land Black Flashes too.
At its core, a Black Flash was just the ultimate application and mastery of cursed energy.
Anyone who could use cursed energy could theoretically hit one.
Ronawa just hadn’t managed to land one yet.
She was still a complete noob, after all.
Of course, that “noob” status was purely her own self-assessment.
In reality, based on her sheer volume of cursed energy alone, she was already at the level of a Grade 1 sorcerer.
Paired with her completely unanswerable innate technique and abilities, it was borderline impossible for any Grade 1 sorcerer to exorcise her.
Even a weaker Special Grade risked getting totally rolled if they fought her.
It was only because she was up against a freak of nature like Gojo that she couldn’t see any hope of winning.
An ordinary Special Grade wouldn’t be able to just casually steamroll her.
Naturally, real combat was never that simple.
Fights weren’t just a matter of blindly comparing raw stats and hax mechanics.
Far too many variables influenced the outcome: mentality, environment, split-second decision-making.
These minute details were often enough to determine victory or defeat.
And in this regard, Ronawa was undoubtedly weak.
She had absolutely zero combat experience.
In a real life-or-death brawl, she’d easily take a massive beating.
However, in terms of pure output…
She was absolutely terrifying.
“Output” in jujutsu was actually determined by a formula: Output = Total Cursed Energy + Cursed Energy Efficiency!
It wasn’t just a matter of “more cursed energy equals stronger output.”
Take Yuta Okkotsu, for example.
His total cursed energy reserves were even greater than Gojo’s.
But could you say Yuta’s output was stronger than Gojo’s?
Obviously not.
Because “Cursed Energy Efficiency” had to be factored into the equation.
“Efficiency” referred to how much actual destructive power one could wring out of a set amount of cursed energy.
For instance, if Yuta Okkotsu used 1 unit of cursed energy, he could only produce 1 unit of destructive power.
But if Satoru Gojo used that same 1 unit of cursed energy, he could output 5 units—or even more—of destructive power.
This meant that even though Gojo’s total reserves were lower than Yuta’s, his destructive power—his output—completely eclipsed Yuta’s.
Their output levels simply weren’t in the same league.
And what about Ronawa?
She was a walking cheat code.
First of all, her total cursed energy had no ceiling.
As long as she continuously witnessed death, or maintained the balance of life and death, her reserves would endlessly increase.
It wouldn’t be long before her cursed energy reserves ballooned to a level that even Sukuna wouldn’t be able to comprehend.
And on top of those absurd reserves, her Cursed Energy Efficiency was outrageously high.
It was unequivocally above Satoru Gojo’s.
After all, she was the Cursed Spirit of Death, wielding the conceptual authority of the “death of all things.” She was the natural-born ceiling for output.
Never mind the future—even right now, her Cursed Energy Efficiency already surpassed his.
Think about it: if Gojo tried to use Ronawa’s current measly amount of cursed energy, he wouldn’t even be able to make a dent in the Limitless.
Yet Ronawa had managed it.
That alone proved her efficiency eclipsed his.
Just as Gojo suspected, Ronawa was a monster through and through.
An entity that, once fully grown, no one could keep in check.
Aside from following Gojo and learning the basics of jujutsu society, Ronawa also figured out the current timeline.
It was exactly one year before the main plot officially started.
The Night Parade of a Hundred Demons hadn’t happened yet.
But it was coming soon.
It was already past October, and December 24th was the day the Night Parade would take place.
There weren’t many days left.
Not that it had anything to do with her.
She wasn’t the one who had to go fight Suguru Geto.
Instead of worrying about that, she’d be much better off leveling up her own power.
And for her, the fastest way to gain power was to witness death.
Where did the most people die?
A hospital, obviously.
So, Ronawa took a trip to a local hospital.
Ignoring the gazes of others, she searched for someone on the verge of dying.
She quickly found a target: an old man lying on a hospital bed, his breathing incredibly faint, clearly at the very end of his lifespan.
Surrounding him were several of his children, weeping.
A very ordinary, common death scene.
Ronawa didn’t interrupt; she just stood there and watched quietly.
Not long after, as the old man’s last trace of vitality faded away, Ronawa distinctly felt her cursed energy increase.
It wasn’t a lot, but it was a tangible gain.
Ronawa hypothesized that the amount of cursed energy she gained was directly tied to the strength of the being whose death she witnessed.
The stronger the entity, the bigger the boost.
What did this mean?
It meant her future was going to consist entirely of crashing funerals!
Witnessing an ordinary human’s death yielded a negligible boost.
But what if she witnessed Satoru Gojo’s death?
What if she witnessed Sukuna’s?
Wouldn’t she instantly rocket to the top of the food chain?
And thinking of that, she suddenly recalled the closest, most immediate opportunity to rapidly power up.
Suguru Geto.
If she could just witness Suguru Geto’s death, her power would undoubtedly skyrocket!
