Modern Jujutsu.
The combination of those words might sound a little unbelievable, but over the past hundred years, it really had become a rapidly rising branch within the Jujutsu World.
The root of Jujutsu came from humanity's negative emotions.
That was Cursed Energy.
In ancient times, humans feared wild beasts. Threatened by them, they lay awake at night in fear and anxiety. Those overflowing negative emotions formed curses, and humans killed by beasts became Cursed Spirits, cursing other unfortunate humans to suffer the same fate, to be brutally devoured by beasts and die miserably in despair.
And so, in order to lay those dead to rest, ritual shamans appeared within the tribes.
They were born with a special constitution that allowed them to see Cursed Spirits. They could keenly extract Cursed Energy from even the slightest emotions, and they tried to use that mysterious power to drive away Cursed Spirits, so those resentful souls would not drag the living down with them.
And so, some of those shamans began to mutate.
They awakened powerful Cursed Techniques capable of killing beasts.
The birth of techniques was never something created by Jujutsu Sorcerers themselves.
It was closer to a kind of biological self-evolution, a form of natural selection.
When humans were unable to hunt beasts, the threat those beasts posed gave rise to enormous negative emotions.
Those negative emotions became twisted wishes, transforming into Innate Techniques engraved into the flesh of later generations, allowing those chosen by heaven to possess Cursed Techniques capable of defeating beasts.
Techniques were never something developed by Jujutsu Sorcerers.
They were determined by the direction of human civilization itself.
The less capable humans were of doing something, the more likely a corresponding technique was to appear.
In ancient times, when drought came, people could only pray to the heavens for rain.
And so Jujutsu Sorcerers awakened techniques that could summon wind and rain, leading human civilization onward and allowing it to survive.
But now, in the modern age, humanity could already control the climate freely through science and technology.
Those Jujutsu Sorcerers who had once seemed omnipotent, like gods capable of summoning wind and rain, had likewise become irrelevant.
They were like sailors from an old age, no longer able to board the ships of the new era.
Meanwhile, as human civilization developed, more and more Jujutsu Sorcerers began to awaken all kinds of strange new techniques meant to adapt to modern civilization.
Like [Projection Sorcery].
This was the modern Jujutsu born within the Zenin Clan over the past hundred years because of film.
A fresh and innovative modern technique like this should have been a ticket guiding Jujutsu Sorcerers into a new era.
And yet the sorcerers of the old era collectively rejected modern Jujutsu.
Why had Ogi Zenin always stubbornly believed that the position of Clan Head should have been his rather than his older brother Naobito Zenin's?
Because Ogi Zenin possessed [Blazing Courage], the oldest inherited technique in the Zenin Clan, an ancient technique from a thousand years ago that turned Cursed Energy into flames, lighting the night and driving away beasts.
As the Prometheus who brought fire, such a figure should have been exalted by humanity, basking in thunderous praise and standing as a beacon to guide civilization.
But now, anyone could bring forth fire whenever they wanted.
The impact [Blazing Courage] once had on human civilization was now not even as useful as a high-end lighter.
So why had such an outdated ancient technique still endured?
Because Jujutsu Sorcerers were unwilling to give up the status they once held. They took techniques that should have benefited humanity and transformed them into tools for rule and slaughter.
Flames no longer existed to drive back the night, nor to ward off beasts.
Flames were used to suppress enemies, and even more so, to burn common civilians to death!
And so [Curse Users] were born.
They were evil beings who hindered the progress of human civilization and stood against Jujutsu Sorcerers.
And yet this cancer that harmed civilization lay deeply hidden in the depths of the Jujutsu World, becoming a rotten ruling class.
That was the [Jujutsu Headquarters].
And also the [Jujutsu Higher-Ups].
A deep government tightly bound to the Three Great Families, manipulating the Jujutsu World from behind the scenes.
Since Naoya Zenin had already decided to change the course of the story, since he had already chosen that he wanted to live on.
Then this transmigrator had no choice but to completely change this rotten Jujutsu World.
In the original work, part of the reason Satoru Gojo ended up getting cut in half by Ryomen Sukuna and dying like a clown was because that was simply the kind of person he was.
But a very large part of it was also because the [Jujutsu Higher-Ups] had obstructed the development of the Jujutsu World.
Even though this was already modern society, the strongest fighting force in the Jujutsu World was still the Gojo Clan heir with [Six Eyes] plus [Limitless Technique].
The Jujutsu World had clearly developed a massive generational gap!
Satoru Gojo, the strongest jujutsu sorcerer of the modern era, was still fighting with a style passed down by his ancestors, and somehow that fossilized old meta was still top tier in the current patch?
Just how terrible was the balance in the current version of the Jujutsu World?
The first and biggest reason was that the devs at the top had gone completely rotten!
Those old bastards in Jujutsu Headquarters refused to develop anything new or back sorcerers using modern techniques until they could become top tier in the current meta. But the second they saw anyone below them come up with a new build of their own, they brought the hammer down and crushed them on the spot.
New playstyle? Modern Jujutsu?
Do you even realize you're breaking the law?
You're nothing but a [Curse User]. Just wait to get your account deleted.
"Modern Jujutsu is the future of the Jujutsu World."
In that instant, Naoya Zenin snapped his fingers with elegant ease.
The next moment, a vast surge of Cursed Energy burst forth, and a faint cyan breeze rose from the fingertips of the young noble.
As the seconds passed, that light wind abruptly condensed into a violent whirlwind.
"Since when did the Zenin Clan's technique have anything to do with wind?!"
The teachers below were all stunned.
After all, the Zenin Clan's oldest inherited technique was [Blazing Courage], the purest kind of flame technique.
And everyone knew that Naoya Zenin had inherited his father Naobito Zenin's technique, the modern [Projection Sorcery].
How could it possibly have anything to do with wind?!
The Kyoto nobles in the audience, who knew nothing about Jujutsu, all paled at once. Some could not help wanting to get up and flee.
It was obvious to the naked eye that the whirlwind carried terrifying destructive force. Only a bold and reckless young man like Naoya Zenin would dare use such a dangerous technique in a setting like this.
"And yet Jujutsu is not mere barbaric destruction. It is a wind of change sweeping across the world."
Then, under Naoya Zenin's precise control, the violent whirlwind abruptly split into dozens of thin wind blades, circling around him like wild beasts that had been tamed.
The blades flashed with a cold gleam, yet they did not injure a single person. Instead, they traced elegant arcs through the air before finally gathering into a blooming cyan rose.
The young noble lifted one finger slightly, and that rose of wind slowly rose into the air. Under the dome of the auditorium, it shattered in silence, turning into countless specks of light that drifted down.
The nobles and first-year students below stared blankly and reached out their hands, but the light vanished the moment it touched their skin, leaving behind no trace at all.
"This is modern Jujutsu. The miracle that makes gods of humanity."
The transmigrator swept his gaze across the entire hall, then hooked a finger into his collar and said flatly,
"Everyone here, I hate trash, and I hate useless fools even more. The Jujutsu World is a world where the strong devour the weak. It is a world where only bloodline lets you make something of yourself. And yet even with the privileged bloodline you were born with, you still have not managed to make your talents bloom."
"Looking at how pitiful and pathetic you all are really does put me in a good mood."
