(Author’s Note: Aiming to woo Maki, pull Choso over to Jujutsu High as a brother, and play matchmaker for Choso and Yuki—long live the brother and sister-in-law!
P.S.
This is all a self-indulgent dream.
If anything makes zero sense, just assume I didn’t get enough sleep -3-)
Arata Hoshino sat by the window, elbow propped on the desk and chin resting in his palm.
His gaze drifted aimlessly outside.
It had been exactly one year since he transmigrated into this world.
A year ago, Arata had been pulling an all-nighter grinding Warframe.
Having finished his dailies and weeklies, he’d opened a streaming app to catch the latest episode of the Jujutsu Kaisen: Culling Game arc.
He hadn’t even lasted five minutes before falling asleep, only to wake up standing at the gates of Tokyo Jujutsu High.
His clothes hadn’t changed, but his phone had no signal.
Luckily, it wasn’t a soul-possession transmigration; it was his own body.
After a quick lament about how Warframe was the root of all evil, Arata accepted his new reality pretty quickly.
As luck would have it, a man with snow-white hair and a white bandage wrapped around the upper half of his face appeared shortly after.
Arata couldn’t quite remember the details of that first conversation anymore.
He only remembered Satoru Gojo eventually asking, “Wanna be my student?” and then somehow finding himself enrolled.
“A-ra-ta.”
A slightly raspy voice snapped him out of his daze.
Arata turned to see Maki Zenin standing by the podium, a naginata in hand and her brow slightly furrowed.
Clad in her Jujutsu High uniform with her hair tied in a high ponytail, her profile looked sharp and determined.
“You’re spacing out again,” she said.
“I wasn’t,” Arata blinked, then popped a lollipop into his mouth.
“I was contemplating.”
“Contemplating what?”
“Contemplating whether I bought enough desserts for today.”
Maki fell silent for a second before looking away, her tone dripping with mock disgust.
“…You’re going to get diabetes sooner or later.”
Arata chuckled but didn’t argue.
Just then, the classroom door slid open, and a fluffy white head peeked in.
“Yo, everyone’s here.” Panda waddled in, followed by Toge Inumaki, whose high collar was pulled up to his chin to hide the lower half of his face.
“Panda, Toge,” Arata raised a hand in greeting.
“Kelp,” Toge squinted and nodded in response before finding a random seat.
“So that guy called us here and then ended up late himself.” Glancing at the clock on the wall, Maki leaned her naginata against the desk and sat down directly next to Arata.
“Gojo-sensei seems to have gone to pick up a new student,” Panda said, hopping onto a desk.
His massive frame made the wooden legs groan under the weight.
“I heard it’s a transfer.”
“A transfer student?” Arata bit down on his lollipop stick, one eyebrow arching.
Based on the timeline, there was only one person that could be: Yuta Okkotsu.
“You look like you know something,” Maki suddenly looked at him, her gaze sharp.
Arata paused, then smiled.
“What could I know?
I’m not Gojo-sensei.”
“Hmph.” Maki looked away, not pressing further.
“Speaking of which,” Panda suddenly remembered something.
“Arata, did you go out with Gojo-sensei again yesterday?”
Arata’s expression stiffened for a split second.
“…How did you know?”
“Because a Panda’s intuition tells me you got scammed,” Panda said solemnly.
Maki snorted.
“You don’t need intuition to see that.
Whenever that bastard tricks someone into treating him, his grin stretches from ear to ear.”
Arata remained silent for two seconds, then silently pulled another lollipop from his pocket, unwrapped it, and stuffed it into his mouth.
“What was it this time?” Maki asked.
“Kikufuku.”
“How many?”
“Ten boxes of thirty.”
The classroom went dead quiet for a moment before Maki let out her first laugh of the day.
It was short, but it was definitely a laugh.
“Are you an idiot?”
With a lollipop bulging in his cheek, Arata muttered indistinctly, “Honestly…
he’s the head of the Gojo Clan.
How does he have the nerve to constantly leech off his students?”
Before the laughter could die down, the door swung open again.
This time it only opened halfway.
A hand rested on the handle as the four students looked over.
Standing in the doorway was a thin boy with messy, short black hair.
His features were delicate, but the dark circles under his eyes gave him a decidedly melancholic aura.
“…Sorry for the intrusion.” His voice was so soft it was almost inaudible.
The next second, an overly cheerful voice rang out from behind him.
A hand reached over the boy’s head and slammed the door wide open.
Satoru Gojo’s grinning face, half-hidden by bandages, popped into view.
“You’re all here!
Nice, nice.
I thought for sure you’d skip class.”
“You told us to be here,” Arata said expressionlessly.
“You’ve got a lot of nerve being the one who’s late.”
“Aw, come on, I was picking up the new student!” Gojo waved it off dismissively.
He placed a hand on the boy’s shoulder and gave him a gentle nudge forward.
“Let me introduce you.
This is Yuta Okkotsu.
He’ll be your classmate starting today.”
“Please…
please take care of me,” Yuta said, head bowed slightly.
Arata bit his lollipop stick, his eyes lingering on Yuta.
Come to think of it, his own technique was very similar to Yuta’s.
Yuta’s technique was Copy–the ability to copy others’ techniques and use them as his own.
However, Yuta’s version required Rika to consume part of the target’s body and was only effective for five minutes while connected to Rika.
It also couldn’t copy techniques tied to specific physical traits–like the Gojo Clan’s Limitless.
Furthermore, if the victim healed the consumed part with Reverse Cursed Technique, the copy would immediately fail.
But Arata’s ability was Perfect Copy.
He only needed physical contact to perfectly replicate a target’s ability.
The downside was that he also copied the technique’s side effects.
So far, Arata had only copied Blood Manipulation, Cursed Speech, and Reverse Cursed Technique (which wasn’t technically an innate technique).
As for Limitless…
without the Six Eyes, he’d put that on the back burner for now.
Seeing how overwhelmed Yuta looked, Arata smiled.
“Don’t be nervous.
Aside from Gojo-sensei, everyone here is normal.”
“Hey, hey, hey,” Gojo protested.
“I’m the most normal one here, okay?”
Maki let out a cold sneer.
Toge silently gave a thumbs-down.
Panda nodded in agreement.
“You students…” Gojo covered his face, looking heart-stricken.
“You’re breaking your teacher’s heart.”
“Cut it out,” Arata rolled his eyes.
“As the filthy rich head of the Gojo family, the fact that you repeatedly trick first-years into buying you sweets is proof enough that you aren’t normal.”
“Fine, fine, I’m shutting up.” Gojo made a zipping motion over his mouth, then strode boldly behind the podium and hopped onto the desk.
“Now, since everyone is here, let’s get down to business.
Arata-kun~ There’s a job specifically requesting you.
Yuta can tag along too–consider it an orientation.” Check out other works!
